1. Head on at crossroad This picture shows a head on collision The black car was turning right, the green car intending to follow the road straight ahead.. STOP Who do you think was to blame and what caused the collision? Why might the driver of the green car be to blame? Why might the driver of the black car be to blame? Are there any other things that might cause a crash like this to happen?
2. Corner cut flash crash This picture shows frontal collision at a junction The red car flashed his headlights to give way to the green car which was turning right from the road on the right. The black car pulled out in front of the green car. Why might the driver of the black car be to blame? Why might the driver of the green car be to blame? Why might the driver of the red car be to blame? Are there any other things that might cause a crash like this to happen?
3. Roundabout truck crash This picture shows side impact crash at a roundabout. The truck was not showing a signal. The car was heading for the 4th exit in the right hand lane Why might the driver of the green car be to blame? Why might the driver of the truck be to blame? How could this crash have been avoided? What other situations are there where a crash like this could happen?
4. T-junction signal crash This picture shows side impact crash at T junction The green car was showing a clear left turn signal but did not intend to turn left.! BANG Why might the driver of the green car be to blame? Why might the driver of the black car be to blame? Was the driver of the yellow car an innocent victim? How could this crash have been avoided? What other situations are there where a crash like this could happen?
5. Y-junction crash This picture shows a side impact crash at Y junction The black car was showing a clear right turn signal. Why might the driver of the yellow car be to blame? Why might the driver of the black car be to blame? Was the driver of the black car an innocent victim? How could this crash have been avoided? What other situations are there where a crash like this could happen?! t The pa h y the taken b black c ar STOP BANG
6. Mini-roundabout crash This picture shows a front-side impact crash at a mini roundabout The yellow car was showing a clear right turn signal. Why might the driver of the yellow car be to blame? Why might the driver of the other car be to blame? Was the driver of the green car an innocent victim? How could this crash have been avoided? What other situations are there where a crash like this could happen?
7. Blind junction crash This picture shows a front impact crash at a T-junction The green car was emerging to turn right through a gap in stationary traffic. Why might the driver of the green car be to blame? Why might the driver of the blue car be to blame? How might the driver of car B have escaped the accident? How could this crash have been avoided? What other situations are there where a crash like this could happen?! BANG B
8. Dual-carriageway crash This picture shows a multiple crash near a dual-carriagway slip road The green and pink cars were entering the dual-carriageway - all of the other traffic was already on the dualcarriageway. Note: that there is more than one crash. Why might the pink car on the slip road be to blame for the crashes?! BANG Why might the first truck driver be to blame? Were the car drivers in lane two innocent victims? How could each of these separate crashes have been avoided? What other situations are there where a crash like this could happen?
9. Road-works crash This picture shows a crash on a bend with temporary traffic lights The red and green cars were stopped at a red light at road works when the blue car crashed. How might the driver of the red car avoided this accident? What other options did the driver of the blue car have? What was the main cause of the accident? Looking at the diagram - at the moment that the crash happens - what is likely to happen next?
10. Single car fatality Fast round corners? Dead easy... The car has hit a tree - these accidents are often fatal for the driver and passengers... What time of day is this most likely to happen? What might have caused the driver to lose control? Could inexperience play a part in this sort of crash? How might passengers have contributed to the crash? What could passengers do to help prevent an crash like this?
11. Roundabout emerge crash No so merry go round This type of crash is quite common and can lead to severe whiplash injury and possible fatalities resulting from neck injuries ! C! H C N RU Is there any time of day when this type of crash is more likely to happen? CH N U CR Why might the driver of the black car have failed to stop? Could inexperience play a part in this type of accident? What caused the second accident? Where might similar crashes happen? What could passengers do to help
12. Right turn crash This picture shows a side impact crash at a junction The blue car was indicating to turn right as it approached the junction on the right. The black car was overtaking the traffic queue. Why might the driver of the black car be to blame? Does the driver of the blue car have any responsibility for the crash? Could the other drivers have done anything to prevent the crash? What type of vehicle (other than cars) would be particularly vulnerable in this kind of crash? What would the consequences be if the black car was a heavy goods vehicle?
13. Crossroad flash crash This picture shows a side impact crash at a crossroad The blue car was indicating to turn right as it approached the junction on the right. It was travelling at a safe speed as it passed the standing traffic. The green car in the traffic queue left the junction clear and flashed the second green car to emerge.! G N BA Why might the driver of green car in the queue car be to blame? What could the driver of the right turning blue car done to have avoided the crash? What do you think the driver of the emerging car was doing to cause the crash? How would you avoid being involved a situation like this?
