3 The CSAQ Newsletter Editor has been following some of the big events over the Christmas - New Year period which started with a trip out to Archerfield Speedway to watch the first appearance of the World of Outlaws Sprintcar Champion Donny Schatz from the United States who took out Round 1 of the KRE Race Engines 30 lap Sprintcar Feature, and had a very successful trip by winning a large number of the Sprintcar shows at Archerfield over the Festive Season. The next event that I have to report on is the 2014 Australian Speedcar Championships that was held from the 8th - 11th January 2014 at Speedway City, South Australia with thirty-eight speedcars that had nominated to witness the action with the following results:- 1st. W A 11 Adam Clarke NSW claiming his third title, 2nd. QLD 29 Alex Bright from the United States, 3rd. S.A. 41 Ryan Jones and by all reports the racing was good to watch. The next event that I went to watch was the POWRi Australian World Midget Championships held over the Australia Day weekend where there were approximately forty-one drivers who had nominated for this event representing the United States, New Zealand and of course from around Australia and the racing was also good to watch with only a couple of big accidents over the weekend. With a strong group of Drivers from New Zealand as well as the top drivers from the United States there was some good racing over the two night event, and with the This group of photos were placed Americans running away with the top three placings both nights I in the first nights programme to show some the late model speedcars that had nominated for the car shows that I have attended for a long time and from all reports would have to put the event down as one of the best midget speed- event and I will also be placing this event has been programmed for the next three years. Since our last edition of the Classic Speedway Association Newsletter several members of the club have made the trip to the Lockyer Valley Speedway as part of the pre-program of demonstration runs with the following classic vehicles like QLD 11 Tony Woods in his V8 Chevy powered Stock Car, QLD 26 Bob Hebert in the FX Grey Holden Saloon Car along with QLD 17 Kevin Fry in his 1000cc Suzuki powered Litre Sprintcar and a few other members along with there vehicles. On Saturday 8th March 2014 the Classic Speedway Club once again made the trip to the Lockyer Valley Speedway with the following group of Classic Vehicles like QLD 11 Tony Woods in his Stock Car, QLD 26 Bob Once again thanks to all the CSAQ Members who had made the trip to Gatton for the 5th meeting of the season which runs until May This photo shows QLD 43 Nissan Compact Speedcar with new owner Phil Crompton behind the wheel. I have added some of the photos taken in the pits as well as out on the track to this report please enjoy the Newsletter Editors work on this edition of the CSAQ Newsletter. If you do not have a photo of your car let Tony Woods know and he will print one for you. CSAQ Car Show at Greenbank needs help to make the event a success on the day. If you can let the Club Secretary know if you can help as stated in the information sent out to all members on the 27th February Help is needed in the following areas: Entry Gates, Parking the Show Cars, Parking of the Swap Meet Sellers & General assistance on the day. Please again contact the CSAQ Secretary Tony Woods if you can help. CSAQ VEHICLE INFORMATION SHEETS REQUIRED Just a message to all members of the CSAQ that are intending to nominate for any of the Clubs Events that your vehicle information sheets are needed to be handed in to the Club Secretary so we have some details on your Classic Vehicles when attending these events. If the Club Secretary hasn t got a photo of your vehicle the Newsletter Editor will be available to take the photo if required for the information details. All Vehicles Information Sheets will be presented to the Club Secretary for final approval before going to any of the events announcers. 10 STANTHORPE SHOW REPORT On Friday 31st January and Saturday 1st February the following Members of the Classic Speedway Assn (QLD) Inc., made the trip back to the 2014 Stanthorpe Show for another two day display with the following vehicles,qld 26 FX Grey Holden Saloon Car owned by Bob & Margaret Hebert, QLD 17 Litre Sprintcar owned by Kevin Fry, VIC 33 Formula 500 owned by Brian & Cathy Jones who once again made the trip fro Goondiwindi, QLD 76 Super Modified owned by John & Shirley Stephens, and Daryl & Jane Haywood also made the trip to give support for the display and the CSAQ Club. The photo to the right shows the group of CSAQ Members under the awning relaxing during there day at the Stanthorpe Show for This photo shows one of the youngest Saloon Car Drivers to ever get behind the wheel of a Saloon Car, and thanks to Bob Hebert for adding this photo to the collection as it just goes to show that this little fellow wants to race saloon cars when he grows up. In closing this report from the 2014 Stanthorpe Show the CSAQ Members would like to thank the members who made the trip to Stanthorpe and I am sure that the CSAQ will be making the trip back to Stanthorpe in The Newsletter Editor would also like to again thank Bob & Margaret Hebert for supplying the photos for this report. This year the Club Newsletter Editor wasn t available, but from all reports that he has received the event went off very well and everyone of the Members had a great time during the show, with one report that the crowd attendance was low this year but still enjoyed themselves talking to the visitors who stopped to have a look at the display. I would at this stage like to personally thank Bob & Margaret Hebert for supplying some photos from the show and I will place some of them with this report. The first photo show the Cheeky John Stephen showing that his wife the lovely Shirley has had to take out an insurance policy and John shows off the company to everybody at the show.(poser). This photo of Miss Show Girl for Ashleigh Williams standing beside John Stephen s Super Modified while it was on display at the Stanthorpe Show for 2014 and on behalf of the CSAQ we would like to congratulate Ashleigh after winning the Miss Show Girl event for Page 10
