16 KEY MESSAGES OF WUF5 Review and reflection of governance institutions Calls were made for new and bold approaches to planning Repeated calls for new paradigms for service delivery and new business models for urban development Need to complete the three pillars of sustainability social, economic and environmental Need to make cities more resilient, climate-proof and more rational land use planning Greener and more robust building codes, and smart infrastructure and services In effecting urban poverty reduction, it is important to work with the poor, not for them. 15
