2 OVERVIEW Mesquite Senior Games is an annual event that offers opportunities for seniors to stay active, both physically and mentally. Our games are held annually in the Mesquite area and we host over 1,000 participants age 50 and better. We are the second largest community senior games event in Nevada, next to Reno-Tahoe. Many seniors come from across the country and Canada to enjoy our sunshine and hospitality. And, they bring more than their competitive spirit they bring their dollars to spend in our local businesses. Mesquite Senior Games began in 2002, following an outreach from the Nevada State Games in Las Vegas to communities throughout the state. It s been our mission to promote the health and fitness of those aged 50 years and better, while stimulating tourism in the city of Mesquite Nevada. Our programs contribute to the vision of a healthy, active, and vital community. Athletes normally compete in five-year, gender specific age groups for gold, silver, or bronze medals. Our first year began with Softball, Track and Field, Basketball Skills, 3-on-3 Basketball, Tennis, Golf, Bowling and Swimming. We have grown a lot since then! We now host: Basketball Skills Bicycling Bocce Ball Bowling Bridge Fitness Hike (All Ages) History Tour (All Ages) Long Drive Pickleball Poker Putting Shotgun Sports Softball, Men s & Women s Table Tennis Target Pistol Tennis Track & Field Softball is our largest sport with four tournaments hosting over 60 teams per year. We are honored to host the Nevada qualifiers for the National Senior Games men s and women s softball. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, supported by participant fees and charitable gifts from businesses and our generous community.
