2 Welcome to the 41 st Annual Virginia Senior Games (VSG) Our philosophy is to provide something for EVERYONE 50 & better! From swimming to tennis, events are chosen to include the non-athletic as well as the athletic, to accommodate all skill levels, and to promote an atmosphere of competition and fun! REGISTRATION OVERVIEW Registration deadline is Monday, April 15. Registrations will not be accepted after this date. NO refunds will be given. This is due to the number of VSG athletes, and in keeping with the precedent set by National Senior Games. Registration MUST be completed online. One submission per address. Contact if you need to update your registration. EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION We are offering a discounted administrative fee for athletes who register by Feb 28. Virginians: $6 through Feb 28, $16 after Feb 28. Out of State: $20 through Feb 28, $30 after Feb 28. HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE You must have a valid address to register. Go to Select REGISTER ONLINE NOW Have your credit card ready. Have your credit card billing address available. Enter all required information (denoted by red asterisks). Do not leave the screen until you have clicked Submit Registration at bottom. Your registration confirmation will be ed to the address you have provided. Confirm receipt of your registration! The charge will appear as VRPS WEB or VA REC PARK SOC on your credit card statement. SCHEDULING Athletes may enter as many events as they choose; however, athletes who are not at their events at start time may be disqualified. In addition, athletes should allow plenty of time to commute to events. Events will not be postponed due to traffic, weather, or delay/overage of other events unless the decision to do so is made by the Virginia Senior Games committee. TEAM REGISTRATION Coaches must register teams online. 60% Virginia residency is required to be considered an in-state team in 3-on-3 basketball and volleyball for national qualifying purposes, however, there are no requirements for this tournament. Note: Doubles/partner teams, made up of one in-state and one out-of-state player, will be considered an out-of-state team. Each team player must complete an individual athlete registration as well. Athletes participating in team competition only (Basketball/Volleyball) must still complete an individual registration in order to be included on team rosters. AGE REQUIREMENTS All athletes must be 50 on or before December 31, Age divisions for all individual competition will be determined by the athlete s age on December 31, Age divisions for all doubles, mixed doubles, and team competition will be determined by the age of the youngest team member on December 31, Game officials reserve the right to combine age groups of any event due to insufficient entries. Events are divided into separate divisions for men and women. Unless otherwise specified, age categories will be in 5-year increments. PARTNERS VSG no longer partners athletes in any partner events, to include Badminton, Bowling, Pickleball, Racquetball, Table Tennis, and Tennis. Athletes may visit the Athletes Bulletin Board to post or view posts regarding players seeking partners. Athletes who register for partner events without partners are not eligible for refund. In consideration of the acceptance of my application for registration in the Virginia Senior Games, I hereby waive and release for myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators any and all rights and claims for injuries, damages, and/or losses to include loss of life, (except for personal injury solely and proximately caused by the negligence of The Virginia Recreation and Park Society, any sponsor, and/or their respective officers, employees, or agents, their representatives, and their affiliates) arising out of any and all activities connected with the Virginia Senior Games. I acknowledge and understand the inherent risks involved with participating in the physical activities of the Virginia Senior Games. By signing this waiver and release, I affirmatively declare and warrant that: I am physically healthy and able to participate, I have no medical condition that may limit or impair my safe participation in the games, I have received my doctor s permission, if necessary, to participate, and I voluntarily assume all foreseeable risks associated with physical activity incident to the Virginia Senior Games. I understand that photographs or videos of me may be taken during the events, that my likeness and/or name may appear in news coverage, publications, and/or publicity regarding the Virginia Senior Games, that no compensation will be made by the sponsors, and I give my consent to these conditions. 2

3 Athlete Check-In Be sure to go to the Athlete Check-in to receive your information packet, VSG 2019 t-shirt, participant bag, and name tag. Multiple pick-ups are permitted. Athletes DO NOT need to visit Athlete Check-in prior to their events in order to participate. However, shipping charges will apply to athletes who are not on site to pickup their registration packets or medals and would like them later.
