3 ACC - Agenda Item 2.1 City of Port Moody Minutes Arts and Culture Committee Minutes of the regular meeting of the Arts and Culture Committee held on November 6, 2017 in the Brovold Room. Call to Order Call to Order 1.1 Councillor Junker called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. 2. 4 ACC - Agenda Item New Business Decorative Lighting Video Projection Project 4.1 Councillor Junker and HFOUR HFOUR staff gave a presentation on Port Moody projection mapping, noting the background of the company and showed possible projections on the Galleria windows at City Hall and on the Port Moody Arts Centre building. The committee discussed the potential cost associated with the projects. HFOUR staff noted that they can present the committee with more specific descriptions of projects if a budget amount were proposed to them. HFOUR staff left the meeting at this point and did not return. Councillor Junker noted that this item will be brought back at a future meeting for discussion of the cost breakdowns. Cultural Expressions Review Arts Award Nominations 4.2 Brenda Millar displayed a number of handmade quilts to the committee. 4.3 Hilary Letwin left the meeting at this point due to a potential conflict of interests. ACC17/021 Moved, seconded, and CARRIED THAT, pursuant to section 90 of the Community Charter, this portion of the Regular Meeting of the Arts and Culture Committee be closed to the public as the subject matter being considered relates to the following: 90(1)(b) personal information about an identifiable individual who is being considered for a municipal award or honour, or who has offered to provide a gift to the municipality on condition of anonymity. The regular meeting was resumed at 8:20pm. Hilary Letwin returned to the meeting at this point. Arts and Culture Master Plan 4.4 D. Jain Staff provided an overview of changes made to the draft Arts and Culture Master Plan, including changes to the vision statement and to some of the photos in the document. Committee members provided a number of suggestions to the draft document, including: On page 29 of the document, the text box should be made smaller, so that the background picture is more visible; and On page 28 of the document, the artist of the carving project should be recognized, and the caption could read Coast Salish Welcome Post Project. 5 ACC - Agenda Item 2.1 ACC17/022 Moved, seconded, and CARRIED THAT the Arts and Culture Master Plan be endorsed as amended. Review Process for Selecting Community Banner Designs 4.5 D. Jain Staff noted that the theme for the 2018 Community Banner Designs is Port Moody s Shoreline and that an will be sent to the committee in the near future, containing instructions on how to vote for the top 30 designs. 5. Information News and Announcements 5.1 Staff circulated a thank-you card from Kickstart Disability Arts and Culture, which received funding from the committee earlier in the year. Staff provided an update on the artistic bike racks, noting that the bike racks have been fabricated and will be delivered this month. Staff provided an update on the Youth Arts Festival, noting that the Youth Focus Committee has decided against taking on the organization of the festival. A suggestion was made that another organization or department take on the task of organizing the festival to ensure that funding allocated for the festival does not disappear. It was noted that the Youth Arts Festival can be discussed again at a future meeting. Katherine Edmunds noted that the Port Moody Arts Centre recently received a presentation from Marcon regarding the development project for the 3000 block of St. George Street, which outlined the public art components of the project.
