Mar. 18, 2010 Citizens District 1 Patrol Members Commending three Patrol Members for assisting a citizen who was being harassed and stalked by an individual over a number of months. 3. Mar. 23, 2010 President of Strata Council 4. Apr. 8, 2010 Vintage Car Club Member Constables / Property Crime Unit Detective Traffic Section Sergeant and Constables Appreciative of the Constables who responded to two recent incidents, one which resulted in the arrest of a suspect attempting to break into the building. Special thanks to a Property Crime Unit Detective who liaised with Council Members and visited the building, providing valuable feedback on how the building could further enhance the security measures in place. Thank you to Traffic Section members for helping guide the club s members from Oakridge Centre and through the streets of Vancouver during the Easter Parade. 5. Apr. 12, 2010 Principal, Richmond School Constables Thank you to two Constables who spoke to Kindergarten students at the school s Kindergarten Community Helpers on how police help communities. The children were also given a tour of a police car and were introduced to Police Puppy, Wyatt. Page 1

5 Olympic Games Compliments Letters March 17, 2010 April 8, Mar. 17, 2010 Citizen VPD Members Thankful for the fantastic policing during the Olympic Games. Your officers on the street demonstrated a level of professionalism and restraint that was admired and appreciated. I loved how my personal appreciation was shared by so many others when they began to high-five the officers on duty. 2. Mar. 17, 2010 Citizen VPD Members Thank you for the preventive measures taken during the Olympics by way of additional police on the street, early closure of liquor stores, etc., in order that people could celebrate in safety. 3. Mar. 17, 2010 Olympic Volunteer 4. Mar. 18, 2010 Company Senior Manager (Also a Retired Police Officer) VPD Members While driving athletes and officials around the City, a volunteer found himself behind black-masked protesters in an Olympic van. It seemed to me that both my safety and the safety of the passengers were the priority for your members. Appreciative for the efforts, kindness, forethought, training and superior attitude of the VPD. VPD Members Thank you for the assistance of many VPD members before and during the Olympic Games. Your Department s shift in philosophy and culture, to include corporate and civilian partners in not only planning but operations, is a leap forward in major event management and sets the model for others to follow in the future. Apr. 1, 2010 Inspector, 2010 Torch Relay Security Team VPD Members Acknowledging the fine work of VPD members during the 2010 Olympic Games. I was impressed with the professionalism and dedication that the men and women of the VPD went about their various assignments, no matter how trying those assignments may have been. Our members were immediately welcomed to the group and made to feel as part of the team. Constable Acknowledgment of a Constable who was assigned Security Sweep Coordinator at Canada Place Main Media Centre during the 2010 Olympic Games. From his first meeting, this Constable displayed a strong desire to meet and exceed client needs and expectations, holding meetings and consultation with the Vancouver Organizing Committee, various media representative and the venue security team in order to fully comprehend the needs of various clients. The work of the Constable and his team was also noted by Olympic Broadcast Service representatives during a formal briefing of all media agencies. VPD Members Extending personal thanks to VPD members for their participation as members of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay Security Team. Team members were required to interact with the public and others to ensure Torchbearers were safe and secure in an unpredictable and dynamic environment as we traveled across Canada. We owe our success to their contribution to the team. Page 2

Apr. 8, 2010 Assistant Commissioner, Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit (ISU) Superintendent Recognized a Superintendent for his dedication of eight years to the Olympic project and appreciative for his secondment to the ISU. The Superintendent was responsible for venues in both Vancouver and Whistler and road based transportation. He can be trusted to understand the big picture and he is never shy in sharing his keen insight into important details. He is a strong leader whose knowledge and professionalism is outstanding. Inspector Recognition of an Inspector, responsible for Olympic venues and seconded to the ISU in She has worked tirelessly and with utmost dedication to the professional completion of this project. Her dedication and hard work have directly influenced the successful conclusion of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Page 3
