10 Northern Sea Route traffic in the period (transits included) ,8 mln. tons of cargo were transported via NSR in 2016 in total. Thus the general amount increased 4,7 times compared to 1998 when the traffic was at its lowest (1,46 mln. tons). The total amount of NSR traffic in 2016 constitutes 103% of 1987 year volume when 6,58 mln. tons were shipped. Suez Canal transit in 2015 was 998,7 mln. tons (+3,7%) and vessels (+2,0%). 10
