2 President s Note The Fort Wayne Photography Club Changes! Hello members, The Joint Executive Board meeting was held on June 8 th and several decessions were made that will result in changes in the way the club operates for the 2017 / 2018 season. These changes include: Revised hours for competition & critques, 5 Digital competitions and 3 Print competitions, Updates to the Constitution, Updates to the 2017 / 2018 Schedule Of Events, Selection of Category Themes. Digital Competition Digital images will need to be submitted via to DIGITAL@FWPHOTOCLUB.COM No later than Tuesday at midnight before competition. There will still be two groups, Novice and Advance. File size and marking remain the same as last year. Updates to the Constitution The 2017 / 2018 Board decided to review the Constitution and By-Laws and update, if necessary, and language or requirements to reflect current club operations. Any changes will be presented to the club members and voted on at the 2018 / 2019 Joint meeting. Revised Hours The board decided to set competition hours from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Print Competition A survey was conducted to determine how many, if any, Print Competitions the club should have for the 2017 / 2018 season. There will be three print competitions and five digital competitions. In addition, there will no longer be Novice and Advanced sections for print competitions. So Novice and Advanced will both compete together under each theme. Club members will be able to enter up to four images for each print competition. However, you can only enter one print per category. Schedule Of Events and Category Themes The 2017 / 2018 Schedule of Events and Category Themes are included in later sections of this Cable Release and will be included in the monthly Cable Releases. Print entries will be accepted 30 minutes prior to 7:00pm. Maximum size for the matt is 72 inches which is a measurement of the matt / print s height and width times two ( 16 inches + 20 inches times 2 (for example). 1

4 Meetings Meetings are generally held the first and third Thursdays each month, September through May. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm and workshops at 7:00 pm VISITORS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! Membership $25 Adult (full year) $12.50 Adult (half year after Feb. 1) & Students (full time and under 21) $6.25 Students (half year after Feb. 1) November 16th Workshop Denise McQuillan Photographing People: In this workshop I ll be giving tips to take thebest photos of people with any camera, including a cell phone. I will discuss posing, locations, lenses and lighting. I also will be covering everything from newborns to senior citizens and everything inbetween, including a little about weddings. Even if you don t shoot formal portraits, come to learn about the best way to photograph your family and friends. November Outings Nov 27th: Embassy Theater - Festival of Tree Our best opportunity will be at the least crowded time on Mon 6:30-7:30 (The FTW Childrens Choir is performing at that time) $8/person. Festival events run from 11/22 11/27 (This NOT an exclusive event) Nov 30 th : St Francis Christmas at the Castl Bass Mansion 2701 Spring Street 5-7pm $5/person (Exclusive event) 3
