16 London 2012 Games readiness An improving picture, businesses are preparing Larger organisations now recognise the need to prepare London 2012: 87% have either carried out readiness assessments or are in the process of doing so (46% and 25% in previous surveys). 90% say they are on track or ahead of where they need to be (56%, 33%). Question marks remain over rigour and testing, whilst not enough BCPs are being reviewed. Readiness planning is an ongoing exercise develop an increasingly accurate picture in the lead up to the Games. 17 London 2012 Games readiness And there is much greater confidence in the economic benefits Confidence in the economic benefits of the Games has rebounded: 97% of businesses are confident the Games will have a positive impact on the economy. 81% of businesses now expect an increase in demand for their goods or services (38%, 53%) Less than 4% now fear a decrease in demand (15%). Retailers are most optimistic with 84% expecting an increase in demand. Predicting demand remains difficult contrast between Visa research and that of Visit Britain. 18 London 2012 Games readiness Employee availability remains the biggest concern Over 40% say this is their key concern, but business is rising to the challenge 33% of companies intend to review their flexible working policies before the Games (14%). 43% intend to review their annual leave policies (33%). 55% of companies will install screens on working floors, staff rooms or break out areas (30%). 26% intend to have screens in staff canteens (12%). Only 5% will not allow staff to watch the Games (16%, 29%).
