2 Head Coach s Message Now that it has snowed in Edmonton, it is time to start thinking about biathlon. We have a few camps on the horizon and this season Saskatchewan Winter Games will be a major event as we move towards the winter race schedule. Here are a few dates coming up soon that I will be at and I hope to see you there. (or, possibly Westerns in Red Deer in February) We mostly all stay at the Windtower. To book at the Windtower call and mention the Biathlon Saskatchewan Rate (which includes all the bacon that you can eat and parking) Standard Bedroom $89 (One Queen Bed) One Bedroom Suite $129 Two Bedroom Suite $209 Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation: Pitching In Again This season (again) Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation has partnered up with Biathlon Saskatchewan as our most important sponsor. In the past they have been key supporters of our organization assisting us with developmental programming, High Performance programing, and equipment purchasing. All this IN ADDITION to the best bunnyhugs ever and Medals at our races. Biathlon Saskatchewan members are encouraged sign up their families at a local SWF chapter in your community.

3 Biathlon Saskatchewan/Biathlon Canada Registration To able to take part in any Biathlon Saskatchewan programming, you must first register as an individual with Biathlon Canada which also automatically registers you with Biathlon Saskatchewan. 1) Go to biathloncanada.ca, click membership, how to join and individual 2) This will take you to zone4.ca and you fill in the information. Rifle Fees If you are using a Biathlon Saskatchewan Rifle for this season, fees are due now. Go to biathlonsask.ca click resources and then equipment rental/team fees it will take you the zone 4 website to take your information and pay online. Be sure to include your PAL, who is using the rifle and its serial number.

4 Qu Appelle Valley Nordic Qu Appelle Valley Nordic Ski Club is located in Lumsden off highway 734 (the old highway to Regina). We are a new ski club with a focus on Biathlon and Cross- Country Skiing. We have a beautiful new clubhouse and a lit range for night time practices. Ski trails are groomed and are appropriate for recreational as well as competitive athletes. QVN Ski Club is just beginning our FALL Biathlon programming. We have an Open House on October 1 from 11-1:00. We have programming for youth as well as masters athletes. Practices for youth are generally on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings. Masters practices are on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. If you are interested in registering, please visit qvn.ca and follow the registration prompts. Regina Biathlon Club This year we are an active community biathlon club associated with the Regina Ski Club, and the Regina Wildlife Federation (RWF). We host practices based on member consensus. We share the shooting range with partner clubs. This has been positive for range access, trails, snow grooming and minimizing costs. We will offer orientation, firearms safety course, coaches training, and access to training camps. With membership you receive a key to our buildings. Training as a group is weekly, with optional mid-week practices on CIty trails, and the range facilites are generally available for year-round access. Range availability is shared, and at times it may be rented to outside agencies. The objective is to provide maximum availability to members. Additional training is available through the cross-country programs of the Regina Ski Club. You can start at our club at any training event, and competitions are designed to recognize members age, experience and ability. This is an exciting and challenging Olympic sport open to all ages 8 to 88. Biathletes are also encouraged to participate in other associated cross-country skiing events, such as the Regina Ski Club Wednesday night race series, which are free to Regina Ski Club members. Fees:

5 $20 Biathlon Saskatchewan via the Biathlon Canada website (recommended for all family members attending) $30 RWF Youth membership, or $95 RWF General Membership to a maximum of $120 Family Membership for RWF. $30 per person plus $10 dollars for each additional member to a maximum of $60 per family for Regina Ski Club Membership. $100 Rifle Rental through Biathlon Saskatchewan allocation by provincial coach. Air Rifle rental is free. Practices are usually most Saturdays from 10:00 til noon. In addition to the Biathlon Saskatchewan/Canada Fees, Club fees are $100 for a family membership for the season.
