2 2013/14 Tour de Ski Review The cross-country skiing festival that was celebrated in the Lenzerheide holiday region over New Year s Eve and New Year s Day 2013/14 was fantastic. Thanks to the excellent organisation and perfect weather conditions, the premiere of the Tour de Ski Lenzerheide was a success. Approximately 20,000 visitors attended and followed the exciting tournaments. The President of the Organising Committee, Hannes Parpan, was enthralled: «That was simply world class!» The backdrop against which the world s best cross-country skiers presented themselves when the last Tour de Ski was held in the Lenzerheide holiday region was breathtaking. Blue skies, snow-covered mountains, and a sea of waving flags and enthusiastic faces. The Tour de Ski Lenzerheide provided a cross-country spectacle at the highest level. Whether it was the enthralling sprint runs or the impressive endurance races over 15 and 10 kilometres, respectively the international field of competitors offered both the local audience and the TV viewers an extremely attractive cross-country skiing event. The spectator numbers on both days of the tournament met the organisers expectations. Even without the Swiss figurehead Dario Cologna being present, approximately 8,000 visitors were welcomed on New Year s Eve during the sprint tournaments in Lantsch/Lenz. «Especially during the races in which Swiss competitors took part, the atmosphere in the stadium was practically at boiling point!» Bruno Fläcklin, Director of Tourism in the Lenzerheide holiday region is pleased to report. During the endurance races on New Year s Day, it was even around 12,000 cross-country skiing enthusiasts who flocked to the tournament s cross-country ski run and cheered on the athletes. 31st December 2013 Sprint, free technique Results Men Results Ladies 1. The best-placed Swiss competitor in the Men s Distance was Jonas Baumann, ranking 16th. Dario Cologna was unable to compete in the 2014 Tour de Ski Lenzerheide as he sustained an injury during the preparation phase.

Media Center Opening times Media Center Thursday, 31st December 2015 Friday, 1st January 2016 Saturday, 2nd January 2016 Sunday, 3rd January am 8.00 pm 9.00 am 9.00 pm 9.00 am 9.00 pm 9.00 am 9.00 pm The accreditation desk is located at the entrance of the Media Centre. Upon accreditation you will receive your personal media ID and a usual press kit. 2. Workstation We are happy to provide you with a workstation at the Media Centre. Please remember to clear out your workstation before leaving the Media Centre. 3. Power Connectors Your workstations at the Media Centre are well supplied with power connectors (220 Volt) with the threeprong sockets that are usual in Switzerland. Power adapters with narrow two-prong international plugs can be used without difficulty. Against a depot of CHF we will provide you with adapters for Europlugs. 2

4 4. Wifi At the Media Centre we provide LAN workstations for national and international photo agencies. Wireless connections are availabe at the Media Centre as well as in the finish area (Mixed Zone). Acces is granted via Swisscom Hotspot with a separate SSID (only for media purposes). The usage is free of charge. SSID Wifi net for journalists: User Name: Coding: Password: Medien WPA2 abcd4040ef 5. Parking Parking in the holiday region of Lenzerheide is very limited. We kindly ask you to make use of the public transport (postauto) or the free Sportbus (Line Tour de Ski). No parking spaces will be available at the venue! You will not be able to access the area with your own vehicle. Please use the shuttle bus. For media representatives with heavy devices (cameras etc.) a limited number of parking tickets will be issued for the parking lots near the venue. The decision whether to issue a parking ticket or not takes the Media Chief respectively his deputy. 6. Public Transport (Postauto/Sportbus) Travel to Chur by SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) or RhB (Rhaetian Railways) and then take the Postbus to Lantsch/Lenz, Biathlon Arena (special busstop for the event). From am until pm half hourly or hourly connection. Within the Lenzerheide holiday region a special Tour de Ski Shuttlebus operates from 31 December 2015 until 3 January 2016 next to the regular Postbus and sport bus line. The sportbus Tour de Ski operates on following route every 12 Minutes: Valbella - Lenzerheide/ Lai Post - Biathlon Arena - Lantsch/Lenz 7. On-course Photgraphers Photographers are given a special bib during accreditation. Only photographers with this bib may photograph along the course at predetermined locations. A map with the photo locations will be available at the Media and Submedia Centre. Coordinator for photographers is Sandro Wegmann. Bibs will be issued daily at the Media Centre against a depot of CHF Press Conferences / Interviews with Winners On every race day, a press conference will be held at the Media Center with the day s winners as well as with the tour leaders. The exact time will be announced in the short-term. 9. Smoking Smoking is strictly forbidden inside the Media and Submedia Centre. Ashtrays will be provided for smokers in front of the Centre entrance. 10. Tour de Ski-Bistro / Catering The Bistro will be at your disposal during Media Centre opening hours. There will be sandwiches, soups, sweets and fruits as well as warm and cold beverages. Meals may not be taken at the Media Centre workstations. Please use the Bistro. 3

Ibex Trophy The overall winner of Lenzerheide (ladies & men) will be special honoured with the Ibex Trophy by the OC during the official winner ceremony on the 3rd January The overall tour leader after the 3rd race in Lenzerheide (winner of the pursuit) will be honoured by the Ibex Trophy as she/he is the strongest athlete at the Tour de Ski Lenzerheide. Ibex is the heraldic animal of the canton of Grison and therefore a proudness of the Grisons public. Ibexes impress the Grisons with their power, their quickness and elegance to move them in the alpine terrain. It s a very special honour if a Grison share with something of the ibex and even the biggest honour is, if you get the hornet of the ibex. It s a sign of a deep respect of the achievement a person reached. The winning athletes need the same abilities as an ibex. Both have an excellent equilibrium sense and are real. Both are quick and skilful climber no hill or mountain is to steep for them. They like the high altitude as well as the step and various terrain. 5
