3 Children's raffle Ice creams Spin a prize Guess sweets/loom bands Barrel train Face painting Bean bag toss SCL Nail painting Penalty shoot out Kingswood camp Points made re stalls: Bar down as weather not warm enough for PImms Barrel train could benefit from 8 barrels next year rather than just 6 as done this year BBQ very successful Bottle tombola very successful Bouncy castle wristband system hampered sales and three castles aimed at different age groups (Under 5s/6-8/8-11) could work better Children s raffle could benefit from prizes being handed out on the day as not everyone who buys tickets will be in junior assembly so puts people off Children s stalls were too cramped but this was because they wanted to get under gazebos in case of rain Children s tombola 120 up on last year 120 more children in school! Cobbett s Got Talent did very well Raffle did very well Refreshments did very well thanks to JH and friend Hoopla game was too hard Tony Fresco worked well Better external advertising could bring in more people next year SCL representative arrived late, on her own, without equipment. SCL been cancelled for Summer BBQ in light of this. Mr Liddle has agreed to run a kick the ball/speed JH to look for prize for stall that raised the most money. 3
4 competition. Prize for best children s stall had been promised but not awarded. A parent had suffered a skin reaction to a Henna tattoo. SH to find out if tattoo was done by children s Henna stall or external Henna stall and pass on to GP. JH has been researching new games for Summer Fair 2017 and gave descriptions of various games she d found. It was agreed to introduce some new games to the next fair. It was agreed to form a Summer Fair Committee at COBWEB s September meeting so that organisation could start earlier. It was agreed to decide the date of the Summer Fair at COBWEB September meeting. b. Jelly and ice-cream party (Years 3, 4 and Woodlands) Wednesday 25 May JH said lists of dietary needs could be done earlier. The entertainers aimed a bit too young for the age range. CF suggested a magician Badshot Lea had recently used one and it had been well received. c. Jelly and ice-cream party (Years 5 and 6) Thursday 26 May AM said this event didn t appeal for this age group. It was agreed to revamp the event for next year to make more appealing to age group. d. Sponsored Bounce Due to several events being held in a short space of time involving donations from parents, it had been agreed to postpone the sponsored bounce. It was agreed to reschedule it for Friday 30 September. Sophie Ince and Colette Fuller to organise it with support from Committee. Forthcoming events (Summer term) a. Fashion Show (Thursday 30 June) This event was in hand. b. Rabbit Class cake sale It was agreed to hold this on Friday 8 July rather than the last day of term as originally suggested. c. Summer BBQ 15 July HB/VW organising. Potential Camp Cobbett event had been suggested to run on after the Summer BBQ. JH had got an estimated cost of portaloos which was approx. 300 for one toilet which would serve 50 people for 8 hours. It was agreed not to hold the Camp Cobbett event after the BBQ this year. It was agreed to consider a live music event for September. COBWEB to speak to Potter s Gate PTA about how they make camping event profitable/deal with toilets issue. 4
5 d. Leavers BBQ PTA had traditionally paid for this event. Last year, Year 6 children were charged 3. It was agreed COBWEB would pay the difference between the total cost and the 3 contributions. 110 burgers, 110 sausages and some vegetarian food to be ordered. AM requested COBWEB help for the Year 6 show on 13 and 14 July. JH to buy icecreams/chocolate/wine for the Year 6 show. Fundraising wish-list It was agreed to include this on the agenda three times a year rather than six. It had been agreed already to contribute 6,000 to the new Reception class building and 180 to the Cross-country club for flags. The Committee had looked at all suggestions that had come in from parents in response to an appeal about how COBWEB should spend money raised. Committee had selected: Trim trail at Junior site Improvements to Year 4 playground Dyslexia aids for all years Bibs for Netball team Swimming hats for galas Theatre trips for junior pupils After discussion, it was agreed to purchase dyslexia aids, bibs for netball team and swimming hats for galas. GP to ask staff for more details of these items. The junior trim trail was ruled out. It was agreed more discussion was needed on the Year 4 playground improvements and theatre trip. Fundraising ideas GP raised the reading shed on behalf of a teacher. COBWEB want to buy a laminator. SD said Year 3 needs an A3 one. Film nights It was agreed to do three separate film nights (Infants/Years 3 and 4/years 5 and 6) just before October half term. Exact dates to be decided at September meeting. Paul Fitchett Photography checking availability for Summer BBQ It was agreed not to pursue Riverford Organic fundraising. It was agreed to pursue Easyfundraising we are already signed up. GP suggested selling refreshments at Sports Days as parents had been looking to buy them at the Junior Sports Days. It was suggested we sell ice-lollies at Infant Sports Day as has been done in the past. GP to go back to teacher for more detail on reading shed. SD to research A3 laminators JC to check with PF GP to check if COBWEB can sell ice-lollies at Infant Sports Day 5
