6 Nordic CCM proposal CCM methodology and regulatory approval process For the Day Ahead timeframe The Nordic TSOs propose to implement a Flow Based capacity calculation approach for the Day Ahead Market timeframe For the Intraday timeframe As the long-term solution, the Nordic TSOs propose to implement a Flow Based approach for the intraday timeframe as soon as the intraday market platform is technically able to utilize flow-based capacities. As an interim solution, the Nordic TSOs propose to implement a coordinated net transmission capacity approach for the intraday market timeframe.

14 Characteristics of the Nordic FB / differences with CWE Support the CCM implementation at the RSC Advanced Hybrid Coupling is applied on all DC links Number of Bidding Zones: 26 Nordic bidding zones: 12 Virtual bidding zones: 14 Due to the high dimensionality of the FB domain, the vertices and volume cannot be (easily) computed Two synchronous areas DK1 is part of the continental European synchronous system FB plain is applied Running the intuitive patch poses issues given the high dimensionality of the FB domain (overconstraining the system)

26 First steps for the five services Coordinated Capacity Calculation (CCC): Joint release of capacities to the Power Exchange(s) Coordinated Security Analysis (CSA): A daily analysis, based on the Nordic CGM Outage Planning Coordination (OPC): Weekly coordination for upcoming 4 weeks Short and Medium-Term Adequacy (SMTA): Daily assessment for upcoming seven days. Cross-regional assessment with other RSCs Common Grid Model (CGM): (Covered in next slides).

34 Quality of the D-2 CGM Important factors that we are working on with the TSOs: 1. The input data from the TSOs to the pre-alignment function Implementation guides has been decided with the Nordic TSOs Splitting up the information on bidding zone (BZ) level 2. The quality of the D-2 IGMs Quality assurance of the grid models by defined rules The D-2 IGMs are checked against the aligned values before they are used for further processing 3. The quality of the D-2 CGM Quality assurance of the CGM by defined rules

40 Transparency needs agreed upon by stakeholders in the Oct 11 Stakeholder Group meeting As a minimum, each CNE should have a unique identifier ( name ) + information on the location where it is (i.e. in which bidding zone, or between which two bidding zones). Information on the critical outage, the scenario under which the CNE is monitored, is not relevant. The individual components of the RAMs (being the FRM, Fmax, Fref, RA, and FAV). The methodology to select CNEs (why are they a CNE?) + justification if internal CNEs are used; note that this is not needed for price forecasting, but to build trust The CWE transparency level should be the minimum in the Nordics.
