To stage an inspirakonal Olympic Games and Paralympic Games for the athletes, the Olympic Family and the viewing public 2. To deliver the Olympic Park and all venues on Kme, within agreed budget and to specificakon, minimising the call on public funds and providing for a sustainable legacy 3. To maximise the economic, social, health and environmental benefits of the Games for the UK, parkcularly through regenerakon and sustainable development in east London 4. To achieve a sustained improvement in UK sport before, during and a_er the Games, in both elite performance parkcularly in Olympic and Paralympic sports and grassroots parkcipakon ODA Priority Themes Health, Safety and Security Design and Accessibility Equality and Inclusion Legacy Employment and Skills Sustainability The ODA developed and published a strategy for each of these themes, outlining strategic goals as well as specific objeckves which the ODA commided to achieve in the course of delivering its programme of construckon. In order to ensure programme- wide objeckves for the priority themes were delivered, specific targets were deployed down through individual projects (such as the Velodrome) and to Tier 1 contracts where applicable 2

Carbon footprint study conclusion Confirmed that the Olympic Delivery Authority responsible for delivering the transport, uklikes, building and landscape infrastructure would be responsible for 55% of all carbon emissions from the London 2012 Games Enabling works the green clean up Archaeology 40 trenches excavated Roman coins Iron Age sedlement 3,000 year old burial ground 220 exiskng buildings demolished Species and habitats translocated Cujngs and seeds collected Soil treatment 2.3 million cubic metres excavated, 800,000 cubic metres cleaned of contaminants Oil, tar, cyanides, arsenic and lead Seven soil washing machines Transport One hundred per cent of spectators by public transport 250,000 spectators/day 55,000 athletes, officials, media and other VIPS 140,000 staff and volunteers Javelin High Speed train: 7 minutes from St Pancras to the Olympic Park Stragord Regional StaKon capacity doubled to 80,000 passengers per hour at peak Stragord InternaKonal stakon with new Docklands Light Railway stop Docklands Light Railway increased capacity to three car trains Docklands Light Railway extension to Woolwich Arsenal North London Line capacity and frequency increased East London Line - new and improved stakons Kings Cross Northern Ticket Hall - capacity quadrupled to 100,000 passengers/hour at peak Walking and cycling Nine strategic routes across London The Greenway a 7 km off road pathway improved, including The Viewtube River and Canal Transport Transport infrastructure along the Thames improved Frequency and capacity improved Tower Pier improved Greenwich Pier improved Bow Back canals re- opened for commercial and leisure use for the first Kme in decades Gejng around the Park and surrounding neighbourhoods Over 20km of new roads More than 30 bridges and underpasses 12km loop road Fully connected through TransformaKon ready for Legacy Energy 50 overhead pylons removed and power lines placed in 7.5 km of underground tunnels with 200km of cables A new energy centre providing clean, green electricity, heakng and cooling for the Games and for 10,000 homes in legacy. It includes a biomass boiler using woodchip for heat and natural gas for combined heat and power delivered by barges A completely new uklikes infrastructure sewage, potable and non- potable water, Low- voltage distribukon network, telephony, etc Water Flood- risk an addikonal 5,000 properkes protected surrounding the park Improved river quality New potable supply New non- potable supply black water treatment plant 3
