1 2006 AUSTRALIAN WINTER OLYMPIC TEAM TORINO ABSA (Australian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association) STANDARDS FOR THE NOMINATION OF OFFICIALS 1. Background As required under Clause 8.4 of the AOC Team Selection By-Law, an NF may only nominate to the AOC persons it considers suitable for selection as officials of a Team but in doing so will only nominate those persons it believes: i) are suitable and qualified to fill the required positions in respect of the section of the Team concerning the sport controlled by the NF; ii) iii) whose capabilities, skills and experience accord with the requirements of the AOC as advised from time to time; and who will work efficiently and harmoniously with the Chef de Mission of the relevant Team appointed by the AOC. NF s must not nominate anyone who cannot fully satisfy the standards of conduct and behaviour required of each member of the Australian Winter Olympic Team as detailed in the Team Membership Agreement Officials. 2. Positions to be Nominated 2.1 Subject to the final staff allocation numbers, ABSA will nominate to the AOC persons to undertake the following positions in order of priority for bobsleigh the men's Coach, the Women's Coach, and then the men's Assistant Coach: Bobsleigh In the event of qualifying a 2 man Women s team: Women's Coach - Will Alstergren In the event of qualifying a 2 man Men's Team Mens Coach - Doru Francu In the event of qualifying a 4 man Men's Team Men's Coach - Doru Francu In the event of qualifying a 2 man Women's and a 2 man Men's Team Women's Coach - Will Alstergren Men's Coach - Doru Francu

2 2 In the event of qualifying a 2 man Women's and a 4 man Men's team Women's Coach - Martin Bonnici Men's Head Coach - Doru Francu In the event of qualifying a 2 man Women's Team, a 2 man Men's team and a 4 man Men's Team Women's Head Coach - TBA Men's Head Coach - Doru Francu Assistant Coach - Martin Bonnici Skeleton In the event of qualifying one Women's skeleton athlete Women's Skeleton Coach - Terry Holland Video Technician - Doug Rosemond In the event that the above qualifications (and after coaches positions have been allocated as they are the priority first) ABSA requires a person to provide video analysis of all Bobsleigh and Skeleton Teams as this is crucial to each team's performance. Also note, there are no reserve athletes provided for by the Participation Criteria, therefore ABSA requires an assistant coach to help with the moving and maintenance of heavy sleds and runners. It will seriously effect ABSA athletes performances if these tasks are left to competing athletes. 2.2 Persons undertaking the role of : Women s Bobsleigh Women's Coach - Will Alstergren Men s Bobsleigh Men's Coach Doru Francu Women s Skeleton Women's Skeleton Head Coach - Terry Holland will be required to: See attached position description Annexure A 2.3 Persons undertaking the role of: Men s Bobsleigh Assistant Coach - Martin Bonnici will be required to: See attached position descriptions - Annexure B

3 3 2.4 Persons undertaking the position of: Video Technician - Doug Rosemond will be required to: 1 Video and provide video analysis of all ABSA athletes sliding, including starts on a daily basis, where possible. The video analyst will provide video support for the athletes on the program as they occur. That is, priority will be given to Skeleton athletes first and then support to Bobsleigh athletes for their events as they occur later on the program. 2 Provide all video equipment necessary to perform the task. 3 Attend all sliding sessions of ABSA athletes, where possible. 4 Provide nightly review sessions to all ABSA sliding athletes. 5 Follow directions from ABSA coaches as to where they want athletes videos such as which corners and or starts. 6 To video other athletes when directed by ABSA coaches for comparison. 7 Help when necessary to move sleds and help preparation of all ABSA athletes when requested by ABSA coaches. Video Technician JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS: 1 Have at least one FIBT season's experience as an athlete or official in Skeleton or Bobsleigh. 2 Have a working knowledge of Video Camera usage and play back capabilities including video comparison analysis. 3 Have demonstrated an ability to work in a team environment and converse with ABSA officials and athletes. 4 The nomination of these positions will be conditional on Officials meeting the pre-requisite behaviour prescribed by the AOC Selection By Law. 3. Selection of Officials by the AOC i) The selection by the AOC of officials to the Olympic Winter Team will be solely conducted by the AOC in its absolute discretion. ii) iii) iv) The final number and type of officials positions will be determined by the AOC in its sole and absolute discretion. The AOC may advise ABSA in respect of the Team of the AOC s determination of the number of officials that may be selected as members of the Team and the positions available to officials. Any requirements of the AOC concerning officials are guidelines only and are not nomination or selection criteria. The AOC may amend these requirements at any stage, whether generally or specifically to an individual official s position. ABSA will implement a proper process to identify those officials that it will nominate to the AOC fully satisfying the AOC s requirements and the standards established by (NF name) to govern the nomination of officials. v) The AOC may select any person as an official of the Team and is not obliged to follow the nominations of ABSA. vi) vii) Selection of each official will be conditional upon him or her signing the applicable Team Membership Agreement for the Team to which the official is selected. There is no appeal against any official s selection or non-selection by the AOC.

5 5 Annexure A JOB DETAILS Job Title: Women s Bobsleigh Women's Coach Men s Bobsleigh Men's Coach Women s Skeleton Women's Skeleton Coach JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1. The Coach would be expected to participate in team activities including travelling and official ceremonies, wearing uniform as provided and honouring stakeholder & sponsorship obligations. 2. The Coach is expected to operate the sport program to the agreed budget without exception. 3. The Coach is responsible for providing written team reports including individual athlete reports. 4. The Coach is responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of all program equipment. 5. The Coach is expected to work in conjunction with a range of service personnel including ABSA staff, OWI Staff AOC staff, Medical Services staff and various facility managers. 6. The Coach will in advance assess the technical and tactical aspects of each athletes performance and ensure they receive appropriate technical, physical, physiological and psychological direction & preparation. 7. The Coach will provide individualised coaching, training and skill development focuses to meet assessed needs and ensure the best possible preparation for the Olympic Games. 8. The Coach will be directly responsible for the technical direction and activities of the athletes. 9. The Coach will coordinate training and warm up during competition events and consult with any assistant coaches if applicable. In the lead up to the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy the Coach will be required to: 10 Support the development of the Team spirit in the lead up to the Torino Olympic Games and in the preparation for competition.

6 6 11 Ensure adequate training times are booked and utilised in Torino. 12 Assist the AOC staff with daily schedule during competition. 13 In conjunction with the AOC staff, apply and enforce any rules necessary for the effective management of the team or its individual members. 14 In conjunction with AOC staff, apply and enforce any rules necessary fro the effective management of the team or its individual members, with the policies determined by the Olympic Team Executive taking precedent over any NF or sport specific rules. JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge and Skills 15 Have a minimum of three years as a World Cup/National team coach or athlete in Bobsleigh or Skeleton. 16 Have previous suitable international competition coaching experience at a World Championships or World Cup or Olympic Winter Games level. 17 Preferably be in a position with a stakeholder who is responsible for delivering elements of the national athlete pathway. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS 18 Preparation and Organization. 19 Work Ethic. 20 Technical Coaching. 21 Equipment Usage. 22 Athlete Management. 23 Program success (i.e. athletes meeting individual targets). 24 Performance of athletes.

7 7 Annexure B JOB DETAILS Job Title: Men s Bobsleigh Men's Bobsleigh Assistant Coach JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 1 The Assistant Coach would be expected to participate in team activities including travelling and official ceremonies, wearing uniform as provided and honouring stakeholder & sponsorship obligations. 2 The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Coach in the monitoring and maintenance of all program equipment. 3 The Assistant Coach is expected to work in conjunction with a range of service personnel including ABSA staff, AOC staff, program physiotherapists and various facility managers. 4 The Assistant Coach will provide individualised coaching, training and skill development focuses, under the direction of the Coach, to meet assessed needs and ensure the best possible preparation for the Olympic Games.
