Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) is a joint venture launched by the city and private enterprises in February 2008 to promote Seoul as a convention and tourism destination.

3 Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) is a joint venture launched by the city and private enterprises in February 2008 to promote Seoul as a convention and tourism destination. STO is the city s primary source of information for international tourism markets. Other roles include developing and distributing promotional material to various sectors of the local tourism industry and conducting promotion campaigns designed to raise their global awareness. Seoul Convention Bureau (SCB), a division of STO, is the official city representative in charge of marketing and public relations for Seoul as a convention city. SCB aims to represent and promote Seoul as a prime venue for meetings, conventions and exhibitions. SCB also provides support for event planners and business visitors, ranging from financial support to expert supporters able to assist them and from the initial stages to the successful implementation of their event. Seoul MICE Alliance (SMA), a partnership of industry stakeholders, was formed to enhance the city s global business events competitiveness. The SMA is operated jointly by the city of Seoul and the Seoul Tourism Organization, with the aim of better promoting Seoul s meetings infrastructure and advantages to buyers around the world.

Our services include assistance in the preparation of proposals, a one-on-one presentation workshop and consultation on a successful bidding strategy. Venue Search and Site Inspections Hotel accommodations and transportation within Seoul will be provided by SCB for your board members or executives considering Seoul for their upcoming international meeting. City tours, site inspections of convention facilities and unique venues and information on tourist attractions are also offered. Bid Support Declarations The SCB will arrange for you to receive a letter and video message from the mayor of Seoul and CEO of Seoul Tourism Organization pledging support for your bid.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS Seoul offers subvention to support international conferences and meetings that meet all the following criteria according to the event type.

Type A Meetings organized or sponsored by international organizations, associations and societies * International non-governmental organizations and intergovernmental organizations that are included in the UIA s Yearbook. Lasting at least 3 days in Seoul At least 300 participants with 30 percent of the participants from countries other than the host country and at least 5 nationalities represented Type B M eetings NOT organized or sponsored by international organizations, associations and societies Lasting at least 2 days in Seoul At least 150 participants from countries other than the host country Type C Meetings of at least 50 participants from countries other than the host country may also apply for support consideration that is subject to review and approval. How to Apply Application for a financial support must be made via the SCB s official website. As all forms must be completed in Korean, only the Korean local organizing committee, related Korean organization, local PCO or DMC is allowed to apply for the process. Please contact the SCB at least 2 months prior to the event begins. Conditions FINANCIAL SUPPORT Financial support recipients agree to credit Seoul City for sponsorship, and also adhere to guidelines regarding publicity of the Seoul City logo. Organizer must pay for expenses first, and will receive financial support upon conclusion of the event and submission of the required post-event documents.

CORPORATE MEETINGS AND INCENTIVES Financial support is offered for corporate meetings and incentives that are attended by 50 or more international participants staying at least two nights in Seoul.

The eligible event may receive support for both the bidding of the event and the actual hosting of the event.
