Election Manifesto 6
7
Leadership in both areas The FEI has to ENSURE THAT THE INTERESTS of this sport prevail over and above any other interests The FEI has to be the UNIFYING FORCE of the equestrian movement The FEI has to be REGULATOR AND DEVELOPER of the sport SPORT Top Sport Definition of its priority competitions Development and implementation of the necessary protections to strengthen them Once priorities are established, maximum cooperation with private initiatives Promotion and start up competition Bring equestrian sports to all countries in the world with special emphasis in developing countries Make equestrian sports known worldwide Strengthen and further develop the SOLIDARITY PROGRAM not only in sports but also in modernisation and education 8
INDUSTRY The FEI has to be the leader and organizer of the horse industry: Showing the economic importance of the industry in the world Playing a main role in other important social matters such as: Ω Development of agricultural areas through the horse industry Ω Professional orientation for deprived social horse industry groups through the The industry must be one important source of FEI revenues The FEI has to align all the interest of the involved parties, being the regulator and, at the same time, the driving force of the industry 9
ORGANIZATION The FEI is a permanent INSTITUTION representing more than 130 NF. It is over people The FEI remains, people don t Principles and policies of good Corporate Government: Clear differentiation between governmental and executive positions Transparent rules in all electoral procedures Definition of conflict of interests and incompatibilities Accurate management of the company with clear decision-making processes at all levels, measured by achievement of objectives Upgrade and modernization of the Management Structure DIFFERENTIATION between the positions of President and Secretary-General (accordingly FEI Statutes and common Good Government Corporate Basis) FLAT DIRECTION of the FEI, based in three main areas reporting to the President: Ω Executive Director, CEO (General Secretary): Finance, Administration, Human Resources, Legal and Marketing Ω Sports Director Disciplines Ω Stakeholders Relationship Director: NF, Athletes, Organizers, Officials, 10
ECONOMICS A company dimensioned in accordance with the level of stable income. Balanced budget every year Stable structure capable to generate own resources: - From the industry itself (traditional revenues) - Sponsorship (institutional and events sponsors). Strong and valuable Marketing Department (independent from personal contacts) - And NEW SOURCES OF REVENUE: Quality certifications for the welfare of the horse: arenas / infrastructures / feed / farriers / vets / equipment / (such as ISO certification on horse standards) Standard certificates of education 11
In our sport, the horse is paramount and for that reason we must ensure that the following conditions are strictly followed and protected: STRICT ENFORCEMENT OF THE RULES DEVELOPED UP TO PRESENT POLITICAL DECISION TO APPLY THESE RULES Coordination with all interested parties, institutions and countries Universal implementation of good practices in relation to horses Special attention of the sport officials in order to ensure, that in no place and under any circumstances, the welfare of the horse is compromised Continuous updating of officials 12
A swift and effective communication with the National Federations, quickly finding answers for their problems or concerns, is the key for the good and agile development of our organization In order to accomplish this task, we should: - Extend the number of NF on the FEI Bureau: ROTATION OF THE PRESIDENCY OF THE GROUPS (in annual basis) - Maximize the relationships with regional organizations in order to be closer to the different regions of the world and the different realities - More and better agility in order to make proposals and the decision making process. (FEI has to be closer to NFs) Ω The Group representatives in the Bureau must be the instrument of constant communication between the member countries and the FEI. Ω The Director of Relationships with the stakeholders should be the door to the FEI for all the countries, and responsible to forward the possible queries 13
- The BEST PRACTICES from different National Federations have to be identified and shared with other National Federations in order to make our sport better and stronger - Create a new INTRANET working forum called WE TALK, where National Federations can express their concerns and stay in contact with other Federations. This will be a great tool in order to improve communication between member countries IT IS TIME TO GIVE BACK FEI TO ITS OWN OWNERS: NATIONAL FEDERATIONS 14
The Olympic Games have to be the goal and aspiration of all the athletes - On December 2014, the IOC will establish the basis of the new OG programme (2024 and forward) - During the next 6 months they will analyse each sport or discipline accordingly with the following criteria: Number of medal ceremonies of each sport Popularity Costs Investments Tradition Legacy - As a conclusion, the IOC will review the OG list of disciplines taking out some of them and introducing others - These 6 months will be key for the future of our sport in the Olympic Movement. The FEI has to be stronger and decisive defending our position in the OG 15
The FEI must fight to keep our sport in the Olympic Games However, this will not be an easy task in the future if we do not work to improve the following areas: Enhance the IMPORTANCE OF WORLD AND CONTINENTAL championships STRENGTHEN THE NATIONAL TEAM COMPETITIONS: Nation s Cups NEW COMPETITION FORMULAS (which currently are more than years old), to adapt them to the TV Broadcasters requirements in order to get SPORT AND SHOW (too) More and better presence in the media More popularity in all the countries members of the FEI 16
Integration of all the agents Definition of global professional and quality standards in order to keep the welfare of the horse Ongoing training and refreshing courses for all the agents in order to obtain a solid, compact and unified performance all over the world Permanent dialog with all the professional associations that are integrated in all disciplines, in order to coordinate all the movements in the FEI family 17
