2 Medal Events Male Female Total Detailed Medal Events List attached at the end of the document Athlete Eligibility To be eligible for entry, an athlete must: hold an active IPC Athletics License for the 2017 season; have a valid Entry Standard and appear on the Qualification Ranking 1 have been allocated a Direct Invitation Maximum Entry per NPC An NPC may enter a maximum of three (3) eligible athletes per Individual medal event provided having met the Entry Standard of that event. NPCs can enter a maximum of one (1) team in each relay medal event comprising up to six (6) eligible athletes. NPCs may enter an eligible athlete in an unlimited number of medal events as long as the athlete has achieved the Entry Standard in each of these events. In the event that two or more classes in Field Events are combined following the final entry by name and event viability review (e.g., Shot Put F53/54/55), an NPC may not exceed a maximum of five (5) eligible athletes in a combined medal event. However, per each sport class, a maximum of three (3) eligible athletes can be entered. Direct Invitation IPC Athletics reserves the right to directly invite athletes under the following criteria: To enable the greater representation by nation; To ensure events featured on the programme have sufficient representation for viability; To enable greater representation by gender; 1 IPC Athletics will establish a Qualification Ranking from 1 January June 2017 for each of the Individual medal events on the London 2017 Event Programme. Performances will only be recognised for the Qualification Ranking in accordance with to the Athlete Licensing Programme Policies valid for the seasons. Athletes with a New, Review or Confirmed status are eligible for the Qualification Ranking and are eligible for entry. 3 To ensure the representation of athletes with high support needs; To ensure top athletes that may have not had the opportunity to formally qualify due to extraordinary circumstances. To be considered for a direct invite slot, an athlete must hold an IPC Athletics Athlete License for the 2017 season. NPCs must submit a formal request for direct entry to IPC Athletics by 25 May Event Viability Criteria and Qualification Rounds A minimum of five (5) athlete entries from three (3) NPCs is necessary to sustain an individual medal event on the programme. A minimum of five (5) entries from five (5) NPCs is necessary to sustain a relay medal event on the programme. IPC Athletics shall review the event viability following the close of the final entry by name on 08 June In the case an event did not meet the above viability criteria by final entry, IPC Athletics reserve the right to combine such event with other event(s) where appropriate and applicable. In such combined field events, the Raza point system may be used to determine the placings. IPC Athletics also reserve the right to either cancel such events or run them as non-medal events. Non-medal events shall be run in an additional non-ticketed session outside of the official programme (within the official competition period). Should a seated throw event exceed twelve (12) entries at the close of final entry, a qualification round shall be held to allow the competition to be conducted in a single round (final). The Top 8 entered athletes from the Qualification Ranking 1 shall proceed to the final without competing in the qualification round. The Top 4 athletes from the qualification round shall proceed to the final. All qualification rounds shall be held in an additional non-ticketed session outside of the official programme. In the case the entry number of an event dropped below the aforementioned event viability criteria due to withdrawals after 08 June 2016, the event shall still be run as a Medal Event and the medals will be allocated under the minus one rule. 4 QUALIFICATION TIMELINE 1 January 2016 Start of the qualification period for athletes to the Entry Standard(s) 28 February 2017 Preliminary Entry by Number 25 May 2017 Deadline for NPCs to request in writing for a Direct Invitation IPC Athletics open the online entry system for final entry by number and name 31 May 2017 IPC Athletics confirm in writing Direct Invitations issued to NPCs 01 June 2017 Deadline for NPCs to confirm the size of team delegation via the online entry system. 05 June 2017 End of qualification period for athletes to achieve the Entry Standard(s) 08 June 2017 Deadline for IPC Athletics to receive final Entry by Name from NPCs via the online entry system.
