1 Invitation, Cologne Are you a collector or dealer specialising in the Olympic Games and sport, and would you like to meet and trade with other people like you? Would you like to introduce your range of goods to a broader audience and meet other collectors and well-known Olympic champions? If so, come to Cologne from for the 15 th World Olympic Collectors Fair We are expecting many participants from Germany and other countries, and will be offering an extensive programme. For 10 years now, the and IMOS have been organising a major collector s fair. It is an honour for the Museum to be holding the 11 th collector s fair in a broader format, in cooperation with the IOC, as the 15 th World Olympic Collectors Fair On both trading days, the German Post will be offering two special cancellations: on Saturday with the text 15 th World Olympic Collectors Fair 2010 (IOC) & Ice Hockey World Championships 2010 (City of Cologne), and on Sunday with the text Youth Olympic Games, Singapore 2010 (Richard Bo - rek GmbH) & Football World Cup 2010 (Deutsche Post AG). In addition to this, the high point of the event will be the Global Olympic Collecting competition. Ten col lectors can take part, and you too can apply! Our accompanying programme also offers you a visit to the old city of Cologne and Cologne cathedral, a cruise on the Rhine and a visit to the historic Köln-Müngersdorf sports park. 5 Competition Global Olympic Collecting Idea Global Olympic Collecting refers to the collecting of objects in various collecting categories stamps and other philatelic products, coins, medals, badges, pins, documents, entry tickets, official printed material, etc., in order to better present a part of (Olympic) history or a special subject. The IOC wishes to support collecting around the world, in order to raise awareness about the Olympic Movement. For this reason, the IOC is using the as the occasion to invite the international collecting community to take part in a competition, with the participants displaying items from their collection at the Deutsches Sport & Olympia Museum. The display items will then be viewed and evaluated by a jury in the framework of the. The winner s prize will be a trip to Lausanne (from within Europe), including a visit to The Olympic Museum and two nights accommodation. All those taking part in the competition will receive a diploma and a signed memento of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. To raise awareness about the international collecting movement and at the same time stress the importance of collecting for research into Olympic history, visitors to the 15th Olympic Collectors World Fair 2010 will be involved in the jury process. All visitors who vote will get to take part in a prize draw. The winner will receive Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games clothing worth 200. The votes by visitors and the jury members will both be given a 50% weighting, and this will produce the final result. In the event of a tie between the jury s and the visitors opinions (e.g. the jury places entry A first and entry B second, while the visitors place entry A second and entry B first), the IOC Philatelic Coordinator will have the casting vote. Rules & Conditions of Participation 1. The competition entry displayed must represent at least two different collecting areas (see above). 2. For presentation purposes, each competition participant will have a philatelic frame (1x1m) and a table display case (100 x 50 cm), which he or she will be responsible for setting up on Friday 16 April Instead of large three-dimensional objects (e.g. torches) which do not fit in the frame or display case, photos of the objects, together with proof of ownership, may be used. 3. A brief description (one A4 sheet) must be included with each competition entry to explain which story is being told with the help of the objects presented. Visitors to the event will receive a copy of the explanations from the 10 competition participants as the exhibition catalogue.

6 4. The competition entries will be evaluated by a jury and by the Museum visitors. The weighting of both will be on a 1:1 basis. In the event of a tie between the jury s and the visitors opinions (e.g. the jury places entry A first and entry B second, while the visitors place entry A second and entry B first), the IOC Philatelic Coordinator will have the casting vote. 5. The jury will asses the competition entries on the basis of the following criteria: a) Historical significance of the subject presented b) Research needed c) Type of presentation d) Rarity/importance not monetary value of the material displayed The Museum visitors will be asked to choose on the basis of which competition entries they find most interesting and which story is best presented. 6. The following prizes will be awarded: 1 st prize: Trip to Lausanne (from within Europe) for one person, including entry to The Olympic Museum and two nights accommodation 2 nd prize: Book on the Olympic Games 3 rd prize: Book on the Olympic Games All competition participants will receive a diploma and a signed memento of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. 7. All visitors to the Fair who vote will take part in a prize draw. The winner will receive Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games clothing worth Owing to the limited space available, no more than 10 exhibitors can take part in the competition. 9. Those interested in taking part in the Global Olympic Collecting competition should complete the attached form by 28 February Please include a brief description of your planned entry together with digital photos/scans (.jpg or.pdf format), wherever possible. 10. The Jury will study the entries and, if there are more than 10, decide which entrants will go forward to the competition. All entrants will be informed by 5 March 2010.
