NPS now reporting recreational visits instead of total visits previously reported. Aquarium closed mid Jan 16- but STAR Center open for visitors NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island closed January 4, 2016 for renovations. Hurricane Joaquin in September 2015 impacted visitation at many sites. Cape Hatteras Light was closed before and after the storm; then was only open for the few remaining days in the season Lost Colony numbers include attendance at afternoon plays and concerts. Site visits at Jennette's Pier are done by car counter and formula. The counterdid not apply the formula previously, but was reset in Sept The error contributes to the seeeming low number. Hurricane Arthur July 4, 2014 As of March 2014, Jennette's Pier is able to provide accurate numbers for the pier visits. These were estimated through several factors before. Thus the lower number of visits to the pier. RIWC Car Counter malfunction May-July 2014 The Lost Colony 2014 Schedule-May 30 to August 22 Aycock Brown Welcome Centers closed for 2.5 snow days in January Weather Station and Whalebone open in January to make up for Gov't closures National Park Service sites closed due to government shut down Oct 1-16, Weather station and Whalebone VC impacted by shutdown.
