1 The Coyotes Curling Club P.O. Box Scottsdale, Arizona Dear Sponsor, Arizona is fortunate to have access to a number of outstanding sports facilities in the Phoenix area. The Coyotes Curling Club is very pleased to be the driving force behind expanding the great sport of curling in Arizona. The recent acquisition of a building just south of Phoenix Sky Harbor located at 2202 Medtronic Way in Tempe, Arizona will allow the club to address the record interest which the Winter Olympics generates, in addition to providing more leagues to its expanding membership and offering curling programs to every demographic. Our purpose in reaching out is to invite you to partner with us to develop this project into a world-class curling venue. There are currently only 2 dedicated curling facilities west of the Rockies. They are located in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon. For many reasons, the amenities, scenery, and weather surrounding our Tempe location make it a preferable destination in which to curl. In our new dedicated facility on quality ice we will host instructional clinics, high profile events, regional and national championships. Your support of curling in Arizona will be visible to curlers from all over the world, and appreciated by the expanding number of local residents for whom curling becomes a life-long passion. 2 The Olympic sport of curling is now in Tempe, Arizona! The Coyotes Curling Club (CCC) is a 501c3 organization built on enthusiasm, dedication and a spirit of volunteerism. With demonstrated success and a sound business history for the past ten years, the CCC is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the surge of interest that TV coverage of the Winter Olympics historically brings nationwide to the sport of curling. The Club s mission to promote access to and participation in this Olympic sport can be more fully realized in Arizona s only dedicated curling facility. Curling will bring over 300 Valley wide members every week to Tempe. The CCC membership values curling s international traditions of fellowship, sportsmanship, and team competition. The facility will include 4 sheets of curling ice, locker rooms, and a hospitality area with food and beverage capability. Members typically are onsite for 2-4 hours and customarily spend pre and/or post game time in camaraderie. A full schedule will bring curlers to the center for games during daytime and evening hours, on week days and weekends. The club will involve every demographic with Junior Leagues, Senior Leagues, Young Professionals, a Wheelchair League, Armed Forces League in addition to the standard Men s, Women s, and Mixed leagues. Open, Private and Corporate Learn-to- Curl events will be held regularly to teach the mechanics and strategy of the game. Future Olympians will train here! Facility space and/or ice will be available for purchase by qualified community groups in need of indoor ice, large indoor venue space, and social events. Our dedicated ice facility will position the Coyotes Curling Club to host national and international competitions at recreational and elite levels and be the curling club of choice in the US Curling Association Mountain Pacific Region. An ideal tourist destination, curling competitions here will bring national and international hospitality revenue to the Valley of the Sun. The CCC Board of Directors and entire membership is solidly behind this endeavor. The beauty of our project is that it has both present and sustainable future benefits. In the short term, it will grow club membership and promote competitive excellence at all levels. In the long term, it will positively influence the community by promoting social integration, teamwork and interest in physical activity regardless of age or ability. Initial analysis of the results indicated that the USA Curling membership is: Caucasian/white (97.4% of respondents) Affluent (41.2% of respondents have annual household income of over $100,000) Highly educated (81.2% of respondents have at least a college degree) Likely to be married (71% of respondents) They are typically homeowners (87% of respondents) How dedicated is a United States Curler? 80% of respondents indicating that they are at least likely to purchase a product from a USCA sponsor. This is important since 64% of respondents spend an average of between $50 and $500 per month on curling-related goods and services. Frequent Internet users (91.5% of respondents make purchases via the Internet). Likely to be actively participating in curling (47% spend 5 or more hours participating in curling every week). Members are actively following curling via the Internet (56% spend at least one hour per week on curling-related websites) or other publications (53% spend at least one hour per week reading curling-related publications).
