2 General view of the Exhibition. This exhibition, spread through four rooms, "was a great success. Its principal theme: Munich, was illustrated by a 1/1000 scale model of the sports installations, photographs of the work in hand and posters published to commemorate the Games of the XXth Olympiad. A cinema room, where films of Munich and the German athletes in training were shown, completed the exhibition. Finally, a hundred photographs and various documents retraced the history of the Olympic Games of the modern era, from Athens to Mexico. A large number of these documents had been lent by Dr. H.C. WU-WEN-CHUNG of the Institute of Physical Education of the Taïpei National University, who has a very important collection of sporting souvenirs, as much on ancient and modern China as on the Olympic Games. This match, counting towards qualification for the Munich Games, saw Ethopia the winner by 2 goals to 1. * The "Comité Olympique Sénégalais" organised its second "Olympic Week" from 12th to 16th April, The following National Federations joined in the celebrations: athletics, basketball, boxing, handball and football. The State Council has just given its unanimous approval. Let us remind you of article 27: "The Confederation has the right to issue edicts on the practice of gymnastics and sports for youth. It can, by law, oblige schools to give compulsory gymnastic and sports training. It applies to the cantons who follow the federal laws with regard to schools. It maintains a sports and gymnastics school. The cantons and the interested organisations will be consulted during the implementation of the laws." * Hana MASKOVA, who was one of the finest and most elegant of the world's skaters, bronze medalist in the Grenoble Games, has been killed in a road accident. Our condolences to the "Comité Olympique Tchèque", to her friends in sport and to her family. TURKEY * Mr. Suat ERLER, member of the International Olympic Committee for Turkey and Secretary General of the "Turkish Olympic Committee," has been kind enough to send us the following article: 286
5 About 75 Turkish athletes will take part in the Games of the XXth Olympiad, in the following sports: athletics, wrestling, judo, weightlifting, cycling, swimming, sailing, boxing, equestrian sports, fencing, rowing and shooting. Besides, a delegation of 25 young boys and girls will be sent to the Youth Camp, which will take place on the occasion of the Games in Munich and Kiel. Preparations are under way at the moment for the Olympic Torch Relay of the XXth Olympic Games. The Torch will be handed over by the Greek athletes to the Turkish athletes on 6th August, 1972 and, after staying one night in Istanbul, it will be carried to the Bulgarian frontier. The total distance to be covered in Turkey is 564 km. The ceremony at the Bulgarian border will take place on 9th August at 6:35 p.m. USSR * Valery BRUMEL, twice Olympic pole vaulter medalist (Rome - silver medalist; Tokyo - gold medalist) has just married Miss Elena PETUSHKOVA, world equestrian champion and three times USSR champion (dressage). Recently the route of the Torch Relay from Olympia to Munich was inspected by a small delegation from the Munich Organising Committee, who spent two nights in Istanbul and visited the city's tourist attractions. The delegation was officially welcomed by Mr. Suat ERLER, who introduced the sub-committee dealing with the organisation of the relay. 287
