1 New York State USA Wrestling 2018 Marines Cadet and Junior National Championships in Fargo, ND. Qualifiers Packet
2 INFORMATIONAL: The intent of this letter is to provide information regarding the communication plan, travel plan and other pivotal information. Communication: All information and forms will be posted on the NY-USAW.org website and TeamApp. It will be your responsibility to check these resources often to remain up to date with information. While in Fargo, ND we will be using the TeamApp to communicate practice, team meeting times and other important information to athletes, coaches and parents. Launch TeamApp: 1. Sign-up to Team App. You'll be sent an to confirm your registration. 2. Login and search for New York USA Wrestling to become a member. Travel: Each wrestler will be responsible for their own travel to and from Fargo. For those deciding to fly the names and flight information of designated chaperones will be provide in the near future. Transportation to and from Hector International Airport Fargo, ND will be provided as it was last year. Flight itinerary must be sent to team leadership at NYSUSAwrestling@gmail.com along with the wrestler s name and phone number, and parent name and phone number. Information: Upon qualifying for the National Championships at the Jeff Blatnick New York State Freestyle & Greco-Roman Championships OR at the Northeast Regionals, a monetary commitment of $ will be due by May 20 th, At the Jeff Blatnick NY State Freestyle & Greco-Roman Championships the top three place finishers in each style will qualify for Fargo at the weight they wrestled. At the Northeast Regionals top four place finishers will qualify for Fargo at the weight of their choice. Petitions may be submitted by and should include the wrestlers name, style(s) petitioning, regionals and/or state placement and weight class. The non-refundable* deposit for petitioned athletes is $600 if not qualified in either style. Wrestlers who qualify for one style and are petitioning for the second style only need to submit the $300 deposit. Petition acceptance will be communicated by end of day on May 25th. All registration will be closed May 30th, Send Petitions to: Freestyle - kharrington141@gmail.com & Greco-Roman - undergroundathleticstroy@gmail.com The price of the trip is as followed: Freestyle alone $900, Greco alone $850 and both styles $1,100. Included in the price is: Training at Mini-camps, Room and Board in Fargo, Tournament Entry fee(s), and supervision/coaching during the trip. Uniform Package is $225. Upon payment of the deposit an will be received including a form to complete for uniform size ordering. Complete and return this form to NYSUSAWrestling@gmail.com by May 30, All uniforms will be ordered by the coaching team and mailed to the athlete by the supplier. Wrestlers are responsible fo r Transportation of the uniform to and from Fargo, ND. 1
3 Performance stipends to offset the cost of the trip will be awarded as follows (awards cannot be combined): Returning 2017 Fargo All-American = $ Northeast Regional (or other USAW Regional Qualifier) 2018 place: Champion = $ Runner-up/3 rd Place = $ th Place = $ NYS Freestyle/ Greco Roman Championship 2018 place: Champion = $300 Runner-up/3 rd Place = $200 All NYS Nationals Team Members must pay all outstanding balances prior to the start of Training Camp (approximately July 1st, 2018) or they may not be allowed to participate. * Note: A portion of the deposit may be refunded in the event an athlete qualifies for a UWW World Team or suffers an injury that would prevent wrestling in the event (subject to sufficient requested documentation being provided to NY-USAW). PAYMENT INFORMATION: From now until June 1st we will be accepting checks for the Fargo deposit and the full trip. Checks can be made out to New York State USA Wrestling and mailed to 5 Yardley Green, Ithaca NY, (Checks must be post dated June 1st or before) OR if you will be at the state competition you can make the payment there with a card. Starting May 9th there will be an online payment option through PayPal. PayPal: 1. Download PayPal and make an account. 2. Send money to : NYSUSAwrestling@gmail.com 3. Only make a payment if the athlete you are paying for has qualified/ secured a spot on the team for *payments made with cards may be subject to processing fees* 2
4 FUNDRAISING: This year we are making a few changes in our raffle procedure. All Fargo qualifiers who sell raffle tickets will earn 90% of the funds they raise toward their trip to Fargo, instead of 75% as it was in the past. The remaining 10% will go into the raffle pool. This year it is required that each Fargo qualifier looking to use the raffle to raise money for Fargo will have to buy their raffle tickets ahead of time. The cost will be $50 per pack of 50 tickets ($1 per ticket which you will sell at $10 per ticket). Tickets will be available at the State Freestyle and Greco Championships in Binghamton the weekend of May 11 th to 13 th in packs of 50 only. All raffle stubs must be sent to Dave Foxen at 16 Keenan place Garden City, NY by Friday June 29 th. We will hold the drawing on Friday, July 6 th. If there are any questions regarding the raffle call or (c) davidfoxen@verizon.net. If you do not send back your ticket stubs this could affect your trip to Fargo. TRAINING CAMPS & EVENT ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES: Fargo Training Camps: Friedman Wrestling Ithaca, NY on Cornell campus June 9th-11th and July 2nd-4th Curby 3 Style 251 River Street Troy, NY June 26th-29th and July 2nd-6th *Times TBA* Freestyle Acclamation Camp: Cadets arrive at North Dakota State: Tuesday July 10 th 5pm Depart Fargo July 16 th after 4pm Juniors arrive at North Dakota State: Wednesday July 11 th 5pm Depart Fargo July 17 th after 4pm Greco-Roman Acclamation Camp: Cadets arrive at North Dakota State: Sunday July 15 th 5pm Depart Fargo July 19 th after 4pm Juniors arrive at North Dakota State: Monday July 16 th 5pm Depart Fargo July 20 th after 6pm *Additional* USA Wrestling Workshop with Gary Mayabb and special guest June 8 th and 9 th 10am and 3pm. I understand that all decisions of the New York State Wrestling Staff are final. 3. I understand that NO violence, fighting, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, use of rubber suits, throwing headgear, any unsportsmanlike conduct, fireworks, firecrackers, stealing/ theft of any type, destruction of property will not be tolerated. I will be held financially responsible for any property I destroy. Any of the above described behaviors may result in my separation from the NY State Team immediately. 4. I consent to allow searches of my luggage, my person and my room or any personal belongings to ensure my safety, the safety of the staff and my teammates. 5. I understand that I represent NY-USAW, my teammates and the sport of wrestling. I will treat my opponents, the officials, my coaches and my teammates as well as everyone I meet on this trip with the utmost respect. 6. Missing team meeting, team practices, competition or leaving campus grounds without permission from the New York State head coaches is prohibited. 7. I agree to follow all rules set by the coaches and NY-USAW staff, I understand that rule violations or refusal to cooperate may result in the New York State Staff notifying the appropriate law enforcement agencies, parents/ guardians, dismissal from the team and being sent home. PARENTS: By reading and signing this document you authorize your child to be bound by its terms and further understand that it is not practical to list all possible violations of behavior.
