2 Sheth Karamshi Kanji English School (Secondary Section) From the desk of Principal Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. The school reopened after the Diwali Vacation on 18 th November Children came back refreshed after the short break and a satisfaction that arises from celebrating festivals with family and friends. It is important for our children to get accustomed with values, traditions and customs of our families. Dandiya Raas Celebration is an act of impressing sadistic someone residing in you. The school organized Dandiya Raas on the Occasion of Navratri on 5 th October Students came decked in beautiful traditional dresses and danced with great fervour. The Students, Teachers and even the Peons danced with great vigour and enthusiasim. Joy of Giving Week A newspaper is a device for making the ignorant more ignorant and the crazy crazier. Joy of Giving Week was celebrated from 2 nd October to 8 th October 2013, wherein children were encouraged to bring old newspapers and magazines. The money collected thereby was given to the peons. Nonetheless, teachers also gave their contributions towards this nobel cause. Seminar for Students of class 5 to 8 Tata Power Club organized a Seminar for students on Sustainable use of Electricity. ASL Workshop A Cascade training on Assessment in Speaking and Listening was held in Goa from 25th November to 27th November This training was attended by two English Teachers: Mrs Kavita Iyer Mrs Marilyn Koshy TWO DAY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAME ON CCE Shriram New Horizon School, Delhi empanelled by CBSE Board conducted a two day workshop for Secondary Teachers. Twenty Teachers attended the same on 25th and 26th October Mrs Rashmi Sharma was the resource person.

3 Fun Trip It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end. One day fun trip was organized for students of standard V to X on 29th November Standard V to VII went to Shangrila Resort and VIII to X went to Imagica. It was a welcome change from their daily routine. The children enjoyed to their fullest and came back home with wonderful memories! Nature Club Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. Members of Nature Club visited Mangroves of Bhandup on 7th Deccember The students participated in Mangroves plantation drive, Nature walk and bird watching. Daisy Miss and Vaishali Miss accompanied the Nature Club Students. Mr. Stalin Dayanand (Vanshakti-NGO) one of the Mumbai Mirror Heroes of 2013 had addressed our students about the importance of Mangroves. Documentary on importance of Ozone layer and Powerpoint Presentation on state bird, state animal and state flower of all the states of India were presented. Their importance was also shown and discussed by Ms. Rituja(Vanshakti, NGO) in the month of January. Annual Sports Winners don't wait for chances, they take them Exposure to events happening around us gives our students an idea of their capabilities and weaknesses. Our Annual Sports was held in grandeur from 21st December to 23rd December The day began with a grand Opening Ceremony followed by a Display by students of Class V-VII and Marching by students of class VIII-X. Different events were also conducted for Parents and Teachers. The School Magazine SPECTRUM was also released on 21 st December HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 Year s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. Annual Exhibition Ideal conversation must be an exchange of thought, and not, as many of those who worry most about their shortcomings believe, an eloquent exhibition of wit or creativity The grand Annual Exhibition was held on 1st February The students of a Secondary Section had put up a galore of Maths, Science, Social Science, IT and Arts exhibits. Different models like Mangalyaan, Formation of Tornado, Air Pressure Gun, Continets, Deltas, Islands, Solid Shapes, Madhubani Paintings and many more displayed the integration of education with real life. Teacher s Workshop and Seminars Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body. Maths: Madhuban Publication had conducted a Seminar of Maths Orientation Programme in the month of October for which the following Teachers attended. Mrs. Preeti Apage Mrs. Sayee Pawar Maths and Eglish Macmillan Publication had conducted a Seminar on English and Maths based on different Teaching methodologies. The following teachers attended the same: Ms. Andrea Mal Ms. Shakuntala Nadar Ms. Pradnya Tuplondhe English Karadi Path had conducted a workshop in the month of January for enhacning the speaking skills of the students. This was attended by Miss Andrea Mal.

9 Hindi i) Sanklap Publication had conducted a workshop on effective teaching of grammar for which the following teachers attended: a. Mrs. Neetu Awasthi ii) b. Miss Neetu Sharma Ankur Hindi Publication conducted a seminar on grammar for which Mrs. Sumedha Karnataki, Mrs. Neetu Awasthi and Miss Neetu Sharma attended the same. A Journey to the Film World: The Students of std V-VIII got a wonderful oppurtunity to see and attend a live film shoot at Victor House, Nahur Organized by Wayam Magazine. The Children were introduced to the director Santosh Manjrekar and writer Vinayak Prabhu. They also got an opportunity to meet the famous actor Vaibhav Tattvawadhi. Farewell to std. X Don't be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again A grand farewell party was organized for std. X by the students of std.ix. The function began with the Lighting of the lamp by the Trustee members followed by vibrant dances. The students of std.ix gave a scintillating performance followed by the formal awards. Sad Demise Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, HARSHIL leaves a memory no one can steal It is indeed on irony that a child full of life, creativity and zest has lost the battle with life. It is with profound grief announced that our very own child Mst. Harshil Chande studying in std.x-c passed away due to Cancer on 9th February May his soul rest in peace. Seminar on Exam Aniexty EXAM ANXIETY Seminar for std X students was organised by the members of Swaminarayan Yogi Divine Society (Atmiya Youth Group) on 17th February 2014, Tuesday: The following were the topics covered: a) Tips for writing the paper b) Tips for last minute revision c) To understand the psychology of the examiner d) Time Management e) Inner Motivation

10 A Motivational seminar Why Not Myself for Std.IX. On 26 th February 2014 Importance of Prayer in day to day life was told to the students. Importance of Teachers and Mentors on student s life was also stressed. Realisation of selfabilities thru spiritual way was also imbibed in their minds. Board Examination Knowing is not enough; we must apply Willing is not enough; we must do Like every year all the students have opted for Board Exams. The first Pre-board exam was conducted in the month of January 2014 followed by the Second Pre-board exam which was conducted in the month of February Special efforts were put in by the teachers to improve the weak students. The board exams commenced from 3rd March and ended on 15th March Long Tour A long tour has been arranged for the students of Std V X to Khanvel Resort Silvasa from 28th March to 30th March Looking forward to meeting you all in the new Academic Session Hope all of you come back fully energized and refreshed after a break and ready to face the challenges.
