They were made primarily for export to foreign governments and for the domestic civilian market Dies set cal. 56/ /50 Spencer Shell Blakeslee Box This was a six tube cartridge carrier with a wood block, drilled with holes to hold six tin tubes. The wood block was encased in smooth black leather, with a hinged leather lid to protect the open tops of the tubes. A leather strap held the loaded box under the Trooper s left arm, close to his body. This fine reproduction of the original design is handcrafted in the USA. 16

Spencer initially produced the 1860 Spencer Carbine which was noted to be accurate and fire rapidly and hold seven metallic cartridges which weren t affected by dampness and it didn t need caps to fire! This newly designed rifle could be fired more rapidly than a revolver and reloaded in a tenth of the time it would take to reload a Colt style revolver. The 1860 Spencer Carbine has been manufactured by Chiappa Firearms recreating every part in detail. All components are made from solid metal blocks of steel and cnc machined, to guarantee that all parts are fully interchangeable. This dependable Ol Reliable design of the original Sharps rifle has been begging to be manufactured in a lighter rifle in smaller calibers for over a century and is now available in a smaller, quality rifle for today s discriminating shooter. This elegant, small frame version of the 1874 Sharps dropping block action has been reduced in size by 20% while the weight has been almost halved. It has a case colored receiver and a two piece, straight grip walnut stock with a steel butt plate. The octagon barrel has a blue finish and is complete with tang sights. With years of experience of remanufacturing the original 1874 Sharps design, Chiappa Firearms has been building one of the best reproductions of the 1874 Sharps available today. Many post-war models kept Sharps in business through the buffalo hunting years in the West. While the factory continued to produce these fine, accurate long range, heavy bore rifles, the Sharps name soon became a household word. Chiappa Firearms proudly offers a complete range of Sharps models, with a variety of barrel lengths, calibers, and finishing details available (pewter tip, patchbox, white finish and engraving, extra and deluxe stock, etc.) Sharps Deluxe Standard Malcom Scope and Mounts This 6x long tube-type scope is built with light gathering full multi-coated lenses. For fog-free service it is built with a nitrogen-filled ¾ diameter tube. This scope can be mounted on rifles with barrel lengths from 28 to 34 inches using the factory cut front and rear sight. It comes with fully adjustable external mounts. Extended sunshade There are four different sizes of sunshades to match the different barrel lengths from inches. They are 3, 5, 7 and 9 inches. The 5 sunshade is included in the standard package Sharps side mount set. This mount is for the 17 short Malcom scope and comes with a front and rear mount.

Tang is predrilled for Creedmoore Sight placement with base. Lock detail Texas Sharps Carbine ( ) This Sharps carbine is a copy of the 1859 Percussion Sharps Military Carbine converted to centerfire. This firearm was then sold to Texas and issued to the Texas Rangers stationed on the Western Frontier. Each of the 36 original carbines were marked on the barrel by the Rangers with a T S and numbered as issued. The carbines are produced in and calibers and feature case colored receivers, a blued steel barrel and parts. The wood is American black walnut as was used on the original Texas Ranger carbines. Nicknamed California Joe, Joe came west from New York to seek his fortune after a failed romance. Joe was 52 years old at the time he enlisted, but stated his age as 42, otherwise he would have been rejected. Joe brought to the sharpshooters a background of a hunter and gold miner which could have made enough fodder for interesting news stories but Joe was found to have a keen eye and a great marksman without any embellishments by the press.. 23

The cartridge chamber is fixed, and the reduced thickness of the cartridges allow them to adhere perfectly to the chamber, dramatically reducing gas escape. Ignition hole is a tiny 1,2 mm diameter. The front plate of the locking block closing on the back of the cartridge with a spring, and an insert made of beryllium and copper with a hole of 1.2 mm, instead of the open ignition cone, allow for a 95% airtight system. Black powder rifles built with this system perform like a breech loading cartridge rifle, and leave very little black powder residue leaving minimal fouling around the piston. Furthermore the block can be oiled after up to 30 shots instead of the standard 4 to 5 shots. 24

33 US Model 1855 Percussion Rifle The Model 1855 was the first rifle musket to be produced in the United States. It was manufactured at both the Springfield and Harpers Ferry Armories. It was also the first rifle to use the.58 caliber mini ball which revolutionized warfare by allowing ease of loading yet attaining deadly accuracy. The lock of the model 1855 contained the Maynard tape primer system. This system eliminated the need of a percussion cap (although normal percussion caps were fully compatible with the Maynard system) by using a roll of caps to ignite the gunpowder. These caps were remarkably similar to a modern day roll caps for toy cap pistols. These weapons were primarily in the hands of the U.S. Regular army so very few state volunteers managed to get their hands on them. Only about 7,000 of these weapons were made and they were soon replaced by the Model 1861 Springfield. The model features a full one piece walnut hand oil finished stock. To give an explanation according to the laws of physics, the arm of the lever is very small, and this nearly eliminates the dynamic moment which follows the shot in all handguns. Basically, the dynamic moment becomes a static moment, nullifying the amplification of the reaction to recoil which generates on the top of the hand. defense Minimal Muzzle Flip The strong pressure generated by a powerful caliber usually causes a muzzle flip effect after shooting (dynamic moment), which is proportional to the lever angle created by the high position of the barrel and consequent angle of the wrist. The muzzle flip effect has two negative consequences: one is the physical strain, both when you bear the knock and when you counterbalance it, pushing your hand with equal power into the opposite direction to regain the initial position. The second is the time you lose while your arm and hand are travelling up and down, which is obviously taking time on the sequence of shots. Rhino revolver requires a wrist angle near to zero, thus minimizing muzzle flip and related consequences: subsequent shots on a target are all in the center, and do not tend to slide upwards. 41
