FULTON ARMORY because we wrote the books! THE FOUR LAWS OF FIREARMS All Guns Are Loaded, All the Time Never Let the Muzzle Cover Anything You Are Not Willing to Destroy Keep Your Finger Off the Trigger Until Your Sights Are on the Target Be Certain of Your Target Adapted from Morrison, G. 5 PREPARATIONS BEFORE SHOOTING SAFETY CHECK: Do this before each shooting session SAFE Remove magazine. Cycle the bolt with the charging handle at least two times. Visually, looking into the chamber, and physically, with your finger inserted into the chamber, make certain that your rifle is unloaded and there is no ammunition in the chamber. Point in safe direction. Pull charging handle to rear and release. Turn safety to SAFE. Pull trigger. Hammer should not fall. FIRE Remove magazine. Cycle the bolt with the charging handle at least two times. Visually, looking into the chamber, and physically, with your finger inserted into the chamber, make certain that your rifle is unloaded and there is no ammunition in the chamber. Point in safe direction. Place selector on FIRE. Pull trigger and hold to rear. Hammer should fall. Pull charging handle to rear and release. Release trigger; hammer should not fall. Pull trigger again; hammer should fall. MAGAZINE LOADING: Do only where it is safe to shoot WISE PRECAUTION: You have a valuable, quality firearm. You should be feeding it ammunition of correspondingly high quality. Economy here, particularly with surplus or reloaded ammunition, may be very expensive economy. Examine your cartridges closely before loading them into the magazine. Look for corrosion, dents, splits, loose bullets, backward bullets (yes, it does happen!) and other cartridge anomalies. Do not use a suspect cartridge. Dispose of it properly, or consult with the ammunition manufacturer or vendor if known. If you find more than one damaged or defective cartridge, refrain from using that ammunition even the cartridges that may look OK on the outside and dispose of it properly, or consult the ammunition manufacturer or vendor if known. Loading damaged ammunition into the chamber could damage your rifle and could result in personal injury, death or damage to property. WISE PRECAUTION: We recommend you use only new-manufactured.308 Winchester or USGI 7.62-MM ammunition. DO NOT USE RELOADS! Place a round between the lips of the magazine with the bullet of the cartridge pointed toward the front of the magazine. You can tell which end of the magazine is front by examining the follower. The top of the follower has what looks like the outline of a cartridge in bas-relief. The bullet of this outline is pointing to the front of the magazine. Press down on the round until the magazine lips retain it. If necessary, press the round rearward until the cartridge case head is against the rear wall of the magazine. Place the next round on top of the last and repeat until the desired number of cartridges is loaded into the magazine. RIFLE LOADING: Do only where it is safe to shoot. 1. Pull back on the charging handle to cock the hammer, and then press in on the bottom of the bolt catch to lock back the bolt carrier assembly. 2. Return the charging handle fully forward until it locks and remove finger from bolt catch. Set selector to SAFE position 3. Insert the magazine. Pull down on the mag to insure that the mag is latched. 4 Release the bolt by pressing on the bolt catch. Your rifle is now loaded with a chambered cartridge. WISE PRECAUTION: Load only from the magazine! 5

UNLOADING THE RIFLE 1. Set selector to SAFE position. 2. Press magazine catch button and remove magazine. 3. Pull charging handle to rear and push in the lower portion of the bolt catch. If a round is in the chamber it will thus be ejected. Make sure to visually check to make sure that the chamber is empty. If the last round the in magazine has been fired, bolt and carrier should already be held to the rear, if the magazine were in place. DANGER This firearm will fire a chambered cartridge with the magazine removed! WISE PRECAUTION: FIRST remove the magazine, THEN cycle the bolt. With the magazine removed, VISUALLY (look into the chamber) and PHYSICALLY (insert your finger) to ensure that the chamber is empty! MOUNTING OPTICS Titan FAR.308 rifles feature a flattop style upper receiver. These rifles have a Stanag 1913 Swan/Weaver Picatinny Rail on the top of the receiver. This rail will accept medium height Swan/Weaver ( Picatinny ) rings on scopes with objective diameters less than 40mm. Larger diameter scopes, depending on the size of the objective lens, may need either a riser or high rings. FIELD STRIPPING Make sure your rifle is unloaded, with no ammunition in the chamber 1. The bolt carrier assembly should be closed in the forward position. 2. Press the takedown (rear) pin in from the left of the lower receiver (it may be necessary to use a punch as the fit between the upper and lower receivers may be very tight). Pull the pin out until it comes to a positive stop. A detente keeps the takedown pin from falling out of the rifle. 3. Pivot the upper receiver and barrel assembly down and away from the lower receiver. 4. Press the front pivot pin in from the left side of the lower receiver and pull it out from the right side until the pin comes to a positive stop. A detente keeps the front pivot pin from falling out of the rifle. 5. You can now separate the upper and lower receivers. 6. Pull the charging handle to rear and remove the bolt and carrier assembly. 7. Remove the charging handle by gently pulling it backwards until you feel a slight resistance. The charging handle will fall free from the upper receiver. Do not force the charging handle; damage to the charging handle wings will occur. 8. To remove the firing pin, you must first remove the firing pin retainer. Push the firing pin retainer from right to left. Remove it by pulling the retainer pin all the way out of the carrier. 7
Bolt Carrier Disassembly Buffer Removal Remove Extractor Pin Check for Free Movement 8 Disassembled Bolt
9. Tilt the bolt face up and remove the firing pin. 10. Push the bolt in towards the carrier until it rotates and comes to a stop. 11. Remove the cam pin by lifting it out away from the bolt and carrier. 12. Pull the bolt forward out of the carrier. 13. Depress the buffer, maintaining pressure as the buffer is under spring tension, to prevent the buffer from being ejected when the buffer retainer is depressed. Depress the buffer retainer to permit the buffer and spring to move forward and to be removed from the receiver extension. 14. With a punch, remove the the extractor pin from the bolt assembly. 15. Remove the extractor with spring. DO NOT remove the spring from the extractor! 16. Press the top of the extractor spring to check for spring function. Do not strip your firearm further than previously described. If additional maintenance is necessary, consult Fulton Armory. Your rifle is now field stripped for cleaning. To reassemble, repeat the procedure in reverse order. Note on the Titan: The.308 uses a different buffer and spring than the standard FAR-15 rifles even though it takes the same A2 stock. CLEANING and LUBRICATING CLEAN with Tetra Copper Solvent LUBRICATE with Tetra Spray, Lubricant and Grease WISE PRECAUTION: Do not use a wire brush or any type of abrasive material to clean aluminum surfaces! Begin by cleaning your rifle. WISE PRECAUTION: FIRST remove the magazine, THEN cycle the bolt. With the magazine removed, VISUALLY (look into the chamber) and PHYSICALLY (insert your finger) to ensure that the chamber is empty! Upper Receiver and Barrel Soak the bore with Tetra Solvent, using a saturated brush or patch. Never attempt to reverse the brush in the bore. You will damage or ruin the brush, if you can get the reversed brush out at all! Once the bore is thoroughly soaked, set the rifle or upper aside for fifteen minutes to an hour to let the solvent do its work, following the soaking time recommendations provided by the solvent s vendor. When the solvent has been allowed to work a sufficient amount of time, push a solvent-saturated patch through from the breech to the muzzle. Repeat with dry patches until the bore is clean and dry. With the aid of solvent and a chamber cleaning tool kit, remove loose debris, carbon fouling and powder residue from the locking lug recesses. Using patches and a toothbrush type brush, remove dirt and fouling from the inside of the upper receiver, including the gas tube. If you are not intending to shoot again immediately, you coat the bore, using a patch saturated with Tetra Lube. Swab the bore dry before shooting again, however! 9
Bolt Carrier Group Use patches, brushes and solvent to remove the powder residue and carbon fouling that will accumulate in and around the bolt carrier components, as carbon will accumulate rapidly here. There are special tools available for carrier cleaning, such as a carbon scraper. The inside and outside of the carrier key and the outside of the gas tube should be carefully cleaned. These two components mate closely; so, while they both must be clean, don t clean the gas tube so vigorously that its alignment is disturbed! A pipe cleaner can be used to clean out the inside of the carrier key. Carefully inspect the bolt. Make certain that no residue or debris is fouling the bolt face. If it is, clean it off with your patches and toothbrush. Check the ejector and extractor for free movement. If either seems at all sticky, remove it and clean both it and its recess. Reinstall the extractor and/or ejector with a drop or two of oil into the corresponding recess in the bolt. Confirm that you have free movement of both the extractor and ejector plunger after reassembly Once the bolt carrier group components are clean, lubricate and reassemble them. Lightly coat their surfaces with Tetra Oil. Ensure that the firing pin channel is clean and that the firing pin moves freely within it. A drop of oil on the firing pin is a good idea. Before you replace the bolt into the bolt carrier, be sure that the gas rings are staggered 120 degrees apart for good sealing. A very light coat of oil here is appropriate. When you insert the bolt into the bolt carrier, make sure that you replace the bolt cam pin! Failure to do so will destroy your rifle. When the bolt carrier group is reassembled, confirm that the firing pin retainer is retaining the firing pin, that the firing pin, when pushed all the way forward, protrudes through the face of the bolt (when the bolt is pushed back into the carrier), and that the bolt moves firmly into its locked and unlocked positions with respect to the bolt carrier. When installing the bolt carrier group into the upper receiver assembly, a thorough but light coat of Tetra Grease, will ensure the low friction of reciprocating parts needed for the proper function of gas operated arms. Likewise, coating the charging handle with a good grease will smooth its action. Before reassembling the upper receiver assembly to the lower receiver assembly, you may wish to remove the buffer and buffer spring and give them a good coat of grease. Lower Receiver The lower assembly generally requires only cleaning. As the removal of the fire control components is not part of normal maintenance, using a spray cleaner may be the easiest way to ensure that debris is removed from the lower. A bit of oil or even a trigger lube as used in M1911 pistols is all that is needed on the mating parts of the hammer and trigger. If you have a more complex fire control mechanism, e.g., a Geissele trigger, clean and lube according to the trigger vendor s instructions. With the upper receiver reassembled to the lower, you may clean and oil the outer surface of the rifle While the receivers can t rust, the barrel and other steel components can. They should be given a light coat of Tetra Spray. Cleaning and lubricating the AR-15 is mostly a matter of common sense. Clean the rifle when its dirty. Don t use any tools or materials that can damage the surfaces of the rifle or its components. Lubricate the things that rub together. Protect the steel components so that water cannot get to their surfaces to rust them. 10
No barrel break-in is required. BARREL BREAK-IN AMMUNITION ADVISORY Fulton Armory recommends the use of high quality, domestically produced ammunition for best results and highest accuracy. For plinking and practice, we recommend only domestic, commercially manufactured ammunition, or high quality surplus NATO specification ammunition. Please note that the use of reloads voids the factory warranty. Your rifle is an investment and it only makes sense to choose quality ammunition for a quality rifle!
