3 3 Making your first Personal Study Plan (PSP) Your personal Study Plan tool is in WebOodi. Go to weboodi.lut.fi, and sign in with your LUT user account. You can see the information about your study right from your Personal Particulars, found from the drop box after your name. Picture 1. 4 4 Choose the degree structure by the year when you start your studies at LUT. Picture 4. Choose the right Degree structure Name your Study Plan and make the required choices if needed and save your Study Plan. Picture 5. Save the Study Plan

5 5 Now you can re organice your PSP according to your Degree requirements. Picture 6. Created Study Plan Making changes to your PSP In the interleaf Degree Structure you can see the compulsory courses in your study plan. You may need to make changes to your PSP e.g. add elective courses, add alternative courses, move courses from minor to major if courses overlap. Picture 7. Compulsory courses The compulsory courses are already added to your PSP. You may have to add more courses from the list of elective courses to gain a certain number of credits. Press the button Add.

6 6 Picture 8. Add button Choose the courses you want to add from the list by pressing the Add button to the right. After that press Back at the end. Picture 9. Add elective courses from the list The number of credits is OK, when both numbers are black. If any of the numers is red, you must choose more courses to meet the required number of credits. Picture 10. Adding enough courses Moving an compulsory course to the right place. Some major and minor combinations can contain the same course. Study Guide tells you what the right place for the course is. Courses can be moved by using the Move here tab.

7 7 Picture 11. Moving an compulsory course Adding a minor Minor is added to the PSP by using Codes, so that the name and year of the minor is shown in the PSP. Codes of the minors are found in the Study Guide, Picture 12. Minors from the Study Guide Choose Minor Studies Choose Degree Structure tab. From the list below you can see the minor codes in blue color. Copy the code of the minor you want to add to your PSP Picture 13. Choosing a minor

8 8 In your PSP under Minor, Choose Add courses to Minor Picture 14. Adding a minor Type or paste the copied minor code in the Name or Code field. You mau have to choose and add other language courses to meet the language requirement. Choose Add courses to Language Studies Picture 17. Adding language courses

Adding a language course Adding and removing courses There are two ways of adding courses to your PSP. Depending on where you are adding corses to, you may be able to add any elective course offered in the university or you have to choose from a list. I you have chosen the wrong course you can remove it by choosing Delete. Picture 19. Now the PSP counts the chosen number of credits correctly. Suggested substitutes Important information concerning Suggested substitutes, your PSP can not on its own, figure out how to count the ECTS when you use Suggested substitutes, so it is the students obligation to count and check that the right amount of credits is reached. Picture 23. Suggested substitutes interleaf Under suggested substitutes you can add a planned substitute course to your PSP. Notice, that you still need also an official decision from your Study Councelor. You do not need the official decision if the change is the university own course which is replacing and older course from the replacing lists.

13 13 If you have a course already graded to be added to the PSP press Add Item (picture above) A list of completed courses not attached to the Study Plan will appear. Press Choose after the course you want to add to your PSP. Picture 29. Add Item The course appears after the original course in brackets. The green mark shows that the course is completed. Picture 30. Substitute with free form description You can also add your own text field after the course, pressing Substitute with free form description (on the picture above).

Text field shown in the PSP This same activity is used when you are adding Exchange studies to your PSP. The codes for Exchange studies you will be given to you by your study Counselor. Studies excluded from degree Completed courses, which are not included in your degree, are found under the interleaf Studies excluded from degree. They can be moved from there to your PSP, often to Elective studies. When moving courses, go to the course you want to move, press the dropbox below Add to Study Plan and choose from the dropbox where you want to move the course, after that press Add to Study Plan.

Making good use of the PSP, timetabling studies and setting own goals By pressing the code of the Course, you will be able to see the course description. A figure with a pointer shows if there are functions available. Picture 34. Pointer Timetabling studies is done on the interleaf Schedule. The Timetable shows years and periods. The bolded fields are the periods when the course is taught. Picture 35. Scheduling

16 16 You have the possibility to write comments regarding what you want to obtain / and make comments on the progress of single courses. Picture 36. Comments tool A box is opened and you can write about your goal of this course in the first field (Tavoitteeeni), and in the second field you can make comments on your progress in the course. (Itsearviointi) Picture 38. Typing box for comments. PSP-states. When the PSP is made it is in Luonnos (draft state). It means that your PSP is visible only to yourself. You are able to make changes to your PSP at this stage. Picture 39. PSP stages

17 17 Sending PSP to be commented When you want to send the PSP to the Study Counselor you have to change the stage to Primary. Only one PSP can be Primary at a time. When you have set a PSP as primary you can send it to the Study Counselor for checking. Once your PSP has been commented and send back to you, you may make changes to it. 18 18 Choose your own Study Counselor from the list. Please write a message to the Study counselor in the note field. Sending the PSP to be commented The PSP is officially checked during the Introduction course, at the time when you apply for your Master`s thesis topic, and when you want to graduate. Between these check points you may ask your study counselor to check your PSP. Remember to add a message to the study counselor why the PSP is sent to be checked.
