2 SAFETY TIPS Know your target and what s beyond it. Never use drugs or alcohol before or during shooting. Be sure your firearm is safe to shoot. Store firearms so they aren t accessible to unauthorized persons. Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction. Always keep your finger off the trigger until you re ready to shoot. Use only the correct ammunition for your firearm. Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate. All firearms are always loaded.

3 T he Public Safety Training Center offers public-safety and shooting classes, fingerprinting services, crisis simulators, a public gun range, a concealed-handgun licensing office and much more. Our classes give PSTC members and non-members an opportunity to improve themselves in a variety of self-defense disciplines. Never pay a lane fee! GET A MEMBERSHIP! Membership $219 2 Person Family $319 3 Person Family $419 4 Person Family $519 Gun Rentals $10 members, $12 non-members, $6 revolver Add $50 for each over 4 Memberships are per year starting July 1. Memberships will be prorated after July. Members Guest Fees $9 per person Non-Member Range Prices $18 per person Over 60 guns for rent You must have a working firearm with you to rent one. Minimum age allowed on the range is 12 years old. Users under 18 must have legal guardian permission in writing and be accompanied by a legal guardian. RANGE USER REQUIREMENTS All range users must have a working firearm in their possession when they visit the PSTC. All PSTC users must also take and pass a safety orientation (with test). CLEAN FIRE AMMUNITION All ammunition must be purchased from the PSTC Armory. When available, clean fire ammunition will be used. It virtually eliminates lead vapors generated at the firing point by combining a total metal jacket and a priming mixture containing no toxic elements. ARMORY SUPPLIES For the convenience of the shooting enthusiast, the PSTC Armory carries shooting glasses, hearing protection, targets and self-defense ammunition, catering to both the public and law enforcement. Products from prominent vendors are featured. OTHER SERVICES (Call for appointment) Concealed Handgun Licenses Fingerprinting

For reservations and prices, call DPSST Firearms Qualification Course for Retired Law Enforcement (HR218) The Clackamas County Sheriff s Office provides a Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Firearms Qualification Course for retired law-enforcement officers pursuant to the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of The qualification course is offered the first Tuesday of each month. 5 PST 100-OREGON Concealed Carry: State of Oregon $40 This 4-hour course covers firearms safety and defensive use of the handgun, and meets Oregon CHL requirements. It will give you a better understanding of the handgun, its safe handling and the law as it applies to its carriage and use in defending yourself. Topics covered: Firearms safety Applicable Oregon concealed carry laws Use of deadly physical force Self-defense principles Handgun function and nomenclature Ammunition components Selection criteria for a defensive handgun Concealed carry methods Pre- and post-confrontation options Communicating effectively with police The judicial process Materials needed: Pen or pencil, photo ID

6 PST 100-UTAH Concealed Carry: State of Utah $60 (Utah only CHL) $75 (Utah and Oregon CHLs) This 4-hour course covers firearms safety and defensive use of the handgun, and meets Utah CHL requirements. It will give you a better understanding of the handgun, its safe handling and the law as it applies to its carriage and use in defending yourself. Topics covered: Firearms safety Applicable Utah concealed carry laws Use of deadly physical force Self-defense principles Handgun function and nomenclature Ammunition components Selection criteria for a defensive handgun Concealed carry methods Pre- and post-confrontation options Communicating effectively with police The judicial process Materials needed: Pen or pencil, photo ID

7 PST 101 Basic Handgun Skill Development $159 This one-day class is the starting point for the Public Safety Training Center s handgun-skills curriculum. It requires no prior handgun knowledge or experience. Understanding the principles of basic firearms safety is emphasized throughout PST 101 in a classroom lecture and on the range. The fundamentals of marksmanship are a focus of the class, in both dry- and live-fire exercises. Classes are scheduled each month on selected Saturdays or Sundays, beginning at 9 a.m. Though completion of this class satisfies the statute requirements for application for an Oregon concealed handgun license, it is strongly recommended that the student seek additional training in Oregon s Use of Force laws, presented in the PST 100 class. Topics covered: Firearm safety rules Safe storage methods Handgun function and nomenclature Ammunition components and function Fundamentals of marksmanship Basic gun handling Introduction to: 1. Shooting faster 2. Distance shooting 3. Shooting under time limits Personal practice regimen Equipment needed: Pen or pencil 200 rounds of ammunition Photo ID The following equipment is also required, but may be provided as part of class tuition at student s advance request: Handgun equipped with slide-lock Wrap-around eye protection Muff-style hearing protection

8 PST 101A Accelerated Basic Pistol $159 This full-day course is intended for graduates of PST 101 (or students who wish to bypass PST 101 after an instructor waiver) and who wish to continue their training and achieve entrance to PST 102. Picking up where PST 101 leaves off, this class introduces some basic defensive-handgun skills. This is 102 prep. Prerequisites: This class requires that you have taken and passed PST 101 or take a mandatory entrance exam which entails a live-fire evaluation of your gun handling and basic marksmanship skill. There is no additional fee or appointment necessary to take this test. Current CHL or current background check required to sign up for this class. Topics covered: Universal firearm safety rules Marksmanship fundamentals review Threat ready Low ready/search Speed reloading Magazine save (tactical) reloading Indoor/close-quarters ready Verbal tactics Drawing from holster Equipment needed: Firearm with slide-lock Pen or pencil 350 rounds of ammunition, purchased from the PSTC on day of class (.380/9mm/.38 Special minimum) Strong-side, belt-secured, molded or semi-rigid holster and belt At least 4 magazines/speed-loaders Magazine/speed-loader pouches strongly recommended Heavy duty belt

9 PST 102 Defensive Handgun Skill Development $299 This intensive 2-day course (minimum 16 hours) is the starting point for realistic self-defense preparedness. If you keep or carry a handgun for defensive purposes, you need this training. You will learn the professional attitudes and personal habits needed to keep you safe as well as gain a unique understanding of some of the legal and personal responsibilities you assume as a gun owner. You will learn to safely and efficiently draw from concealment, re-holster, reload and clear malfunctions. You will increase accuracy and speed through coached and supervised systematic, repetitive drills. You will develop your ability to safely operate your handgun with control, precision and speed. Successful completion of this course confers the provisional privilege of: Use of the PSTC s Tactical Training (Green) Deck Eligibility for enrollment in PST 103 Prerequisites: PST 101A Qualification CHL or current background check Topics covered: Firearms safety Defensive handgun fundamentals and principles Ready positions and the use of movement Speed and tactical reloading Clearing malfunctions Rapid fire and failure to stop engagements Verbalization in defensive simulations The defensive draw stroke Introduction to index firing Equipment needed: Defensive handgun with slide-lock (.380ACP caliber or larger) Strong-side, belt-secured, molded or semi-rigid holster and heavy duty belt Minimum of 5 magazines or reloading devices and carrier Minimum 600 rounds of ammunition Wrap-around eye protection Muff-style hearing protection Overgarment (jacket/sweater)

10 PST 103 Advanced Defensive Handgun Skill $299 This intensive 2-day course (minimum 16 hours) continues the development of defensive handgun skills begun in PST 102 and introduces new techniques. You will learn to: draw your handgun from concealment with increased speed and accuracy; shoot while moving and turning; engage moving targets; shoot from alternative positions; use cover to protect yourself; engage multiple targets; shoot one-handed; and effectively use index (unsighted) firing. The focus of this class is the mindset, skills, tactics and techniques that are essential in winning a lethal-force confrontation. Successful completion of this course confers the provisional privilege of: Use of the PSTC s Tactical Training (Green) Deck Prerequisites: PST 102 Qualification CHL or current background check Topics covered: Firearms safety Use of force decision-making Speed shooting Directional engagements Multiple targets Position shooting and the use of cover Firing on the move Moving targets One-handed firing Index firing Post-engagement tactics Equipment needed: Defensive handgun with slide-lock (.380ACP caliber or larger) Strong-side, belt-secured, molded or semi-rigid holster and heavy duty belt Minimum of 5 magazines or reloading devices and carrier Minimum 700 rounds of ammunition Wrap-around eye protection Muff-style hearing protection Overgarment (jacket/sweater) Tactical flashlight
