1 2015 Steel Plate League Sackets Harbor Sportsman s Club Monday Nights 5:30 PM May 18 to July 27 Introduction Come join us for a guaranteed evening of fun! Once you shoot steel you ll never go back to paper! This will be an introduction to steel plate shooting competition. There will typically be two courses of fire consisting of 5-15 targets. Each competitor is guaranteed to shoot two courses of fire. The objective is to shoot each target accurately and quickly, since you will be competing against the clock. The upper range will be closed to all other members at that time. Scores will be recorded and distributed to participants at the end of the season. Firearms The course will be limited to centerfire pistols with calibers larger than 22 caliber (38 special, 9mm, 40, 45 ACP etc.). The 22 caliber is not allowed since targets are made for larger calibers. Four categories of pistols will be able to participate, stock auto, open auto, stock revolver and open revolver. Participants will be encouraged to have 3 or 4 magazines minimum or 5-6 speed loaders for revolvers. A holster and mag holders/speed loader holders are recommended however participants may start from the low ready position, with safety on. No other firearms used for personal protection are allowed to be loaded while participating in the event. (i.e. ankle holstered, pocket, purse etc.) A par time will be established for each course of fire; if par time has elapsed the buzzer will sound and the shooter must stop and show a clear firearm. Penalty time is established for each target standing after the par time has elapsed. Notifications In the event of a conflict where the range is not available or the League Director (or designee) is not available participants will be notified by . Schedule The schedule will be for 10 weeks starting May 18th on Mondays, starting at 5:30 pm. The current schedule is as follows: May 18, June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and July 6, 13, 20, 27. The event will be conducted rain or shine unless otherwise instructed. Participants All members and non-members are welcomed. Members will be charged a $50 Steel Plate registration fee. Non-members will be charged a $75 fee or may become members by submitting a club membership form and fee along with the $50 steel plate registration fee. All shooters must have a valid New York State pistol permit.

2 Prior year participants must register and pay in advance of April 24th open registration. Total registration will be limited to the first 20 participants. Any remaining openings will be offered to others on a first come first serve basis. If you are a MEMBER make checks out to Bill Kleftis for the steel plate league only. Complete the steel plate registration form below, include your 2015 club membership and mail to the address below. If you are a NON-MEMBER, complete the Steel Plate registration form and submit a $75 fee, OR complete the Sackets Harbor Sportsman s Club registration, applicable club fee payable to the Sackets Harbor Sportsman s Club Inc. along with the $50 steel plate league fee to the address below. Range and Match Rules 2) Safety glasses and hearing protection must be worn at all times. 3) Firearms shall always be pointed in a safe direction. Firearms shall only be loaded when instructed to do so by the range officer. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to use. Firearms are not to be handled while participants are down range setting up targets unless at designated safe table. 4) The upper range will be used and closed to others during the scheduled events. 5) Cold range. No ammo can be loaded into a firearm unless on the firing line and instructed to do so by the range officer. 6) Firearms may be inspected, cleaned, adjusted etc. only at the designated safe table. No ammo is to be handled at the safe table. 7) A safety briefing will be conducted at the beginning of each event, as well as an explanation of the course of fire. 8) To minimize damage to the targets the maximum velocity is limited to 1350 FPS. No magnum or +P loads. 9) Autos will be limited to 10 round magazines and revolvers are restricted to 6 for stock revolver and 8 for open revolver. 10) Starting position is at the low ready or from the holster. 11) A par time is established for each course of fire. This means that a certain amount of time has been defined as the total time allowed for the course of fire. Once the par time has elapsed, a buzzer will sound, the shooter must stop shooting and show the Range Officer a clear firearm.

3 12) Commands at the firing line are as follows: a. Range is going hot b. Shooter may load and make ready. c. Shooter ready? d. Shooter indicates he s ready? (Provided an affirmative is communicated) e. Stand By (Random start timer is activated) f. Once all targets are engaged or par time elapsed the shooter must show a clear firearm before bagging or holstering the firearm. g. Cease Fire can be announced by any participant for any reason. 13) Any magazine or ammo that falls to the ground during the match is considered dead and cannot be retrieved until the RO has declared the range clear or safe. 14) Any accidental discharge (AD) or negligent discharge (ND) will be cause for immediate disqualification from the match. Two or more discharges during the season will result in immediate and permanent discharge from the league. 15) Once all shooters have shot twice, shooters will be allowed to shoot additional courses of fire until the Range Officer, with 5 targets on the first course (to be shot twice) and 5-10 targets on the second course (shot once).
