1 Southwest Reining Horse Assoc. Newsletter "Track Talk" Oct. 3, 2007 Presidents Message Hello Everyone! Ahhh October, the 2007 SWRHA Futurity and Show will begin in just three weeks. Keep in mind several deadlines for the show. Entries for all classes and stall reservations are due in the Pro Management office Oct. 12. Entries can be faxed or mailed. Call in for paid warm-ups will begin Oct. 18. Move in at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum will start on Sat. Oct. 20. A new schooling class is being offered on Oct. 24 available to the first 75 entries (rules for this class are in the show conditions ). The draw for the futurity classes will be posted at 12:00pm on Oct. 22, late futurity entries with a penalty will be accepted until 4:00pm Oct. 23. Please check the website for more information, forms, conditions, schedule, phone or mailing information at or Also, on Oct. 20 starting at 1:00pm Green Valley Ranch will be presenting the Legacy Sale. We encourage everyone to attend this fantastic event. Youth! Rookies! Limited Non Pros! Polish up your silver and keep your horses legged up, there are saddles to be won! Thanks to the generosity of Charles Ames of Ames Quarter Horses who has again this year sponsored five trophy saddles to be given away in both Youth classes as well as the Rookie, Limited Non Pro and Limited Open classes! We are pleased to have the Polo Ranch back this year as the sponsor for the trophies in the Open and Non Pro futurities. Kyle Tack will be providing some great merchandise for many of the classes and the Anderson Bean Boot Co. will be sponsoring several pairs of boots as prizes for those of you in need of an upgrade! Purina will be supplying the back numbers and their fantastic feed to be given as awards. The host hotels for this years show will be the Holiday Inn and the Comfort Inn. Please express your gratitude by staying at one of these fine hotels while you are at the show. The continued support of the Ardmore Tourism Authority and the Hardy Murphy Coliseum will help to make this years show better than ever. Due to the huge success of the Stallion Auction this year we will have more golf carts to be given as awards. A huge thank you to all the owners who donated stallions and to Pro Management for managing the auction! The Stallion Stakes golf carts will be given to the owner of the sire of the highest advancing Open, Int. Open, Non Pro and Int. Non Pro futurity horse. Golf carts will also be awarded to the Billingsley Ford Open and Winstar Casinos Non Pro futurity champion riders. Golf Cars for Fun has provided us with really nice carts this year. The Houston Ranch Mare Bonus will be awarded in both Open and Non Pro futurity classes-can it get any better? Yes! Open and Non Pro futurity competitors be on hand during the awards ceremony Thanks to Ron Thompson and Skyline Ranch we will be giving away mini four wheelers in a drawing that you have to be present to receive! Don t miss it! Join us on Friday night after the Cinder Lakes Open class for the draw party sponsored by Einsteins Revolution and Two Frogs Restaurant. The party will feature great food and the draw for the futurity finals on Saturday. Come by and relax at our lounge area that will be set up during the show in the concession area. For your viewing pleasure a big screen T.V. will be set up featuring video clips showcasing stallions from the stallion auction and many of our fine sponsors including; Hendricks Reining Horses, Pete and Tamra Kyle, McQuay Stables, Leclair Performance Horses/Legacy Ranch, LLC, Sliding K Performance Horses, Smartest Chic Olena-BiTerra Quarter Horses, LLC, Harris Equine Hospital Inc and Wide World of Horses. 2 **News Flash** The SWRHA is proud to have Jennifer Reynolds of Sandbur Video on hand to video the show this year. A spot on RFD-TV's Wide World of Horses is in the works!! Show Update The SWRHA had it's second to last show of the year not long ago at the wonderful facility in Waco, Texas, and all we can say is WOW! The number of entries in all of the classes was just incredible and made for some very good competition. The largest ancillary class was the Limited Non Pro with 89 entries and was won by Abigail Grabein and her horse Chic Prize, marking a The second largest class was the Rookie, won with a score of 73 by Jana Simons and Gunner Hold Your Fire. Ruben Vandorp dominated the 57 entry Novice Horse Open class taking first, third, and fourth place with his mounts Great Sunburst, My Way Or The Highway, and Miss Cielo Chex. Ruben then came back to take Reserve Champion honors in the Open class with My Way Marla. Krystal Towel showed Solanos King Babe to the Reserve Champion title in the 47 entry Novice Horse Non Pro. Lauren Hall showed her new horse Holymasterwhiz successfully to win the with a score of Emily Winegar and Good Time Show Girl scored a big to win the 13 and under, followed closely by Jordan Donnelly and Hollywood All Star who marked a 144 for the Reserve honors. Jordan also took home the Reserve Championship in the Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro class and Amy Kowalsky and QHR Chocolena Pep took top honors in the Intermediate Non Pro. A big congratulations to all of our SWRHA youth members that showed at the AQHYA World Show. Emily Winegar and Goodtime Showgirl came home with the Reserve World Championship buckle and her good friend Jordan Donnelly was in the top ten with Hollywood All Star. Good job girls! Also the South Central Affiliate Championships took place recently in Tulsa, Oklahoma. SWRHA members who were in the top ten standings of each division were able to compete for the Affiliate Championship title, and anyone who placed in the top four of their class qualified to compete for the North American Affiliate Championships at the NRHA Futurity. We had several SWRHA members that qualified and a few that took home the Championship titles. 3 out of the top 4 in the Rookie division were SWRHA members. Jana Simons and Mary Melanie Hutchins tied to win the Affiliate Championship and Cynthia Booker came in third. These 3 riders will be competing at Oklahoma City for the "Rookie of the Year" title. Jordan Donnelly was Co Champion in the 13 and under class. Courtney Kile won the 14-18, followed closely by Audra Ames who came in Reserve. Audra's horse also took home the Open Affiliate Championship and NRHA Saddle Series with Shelli Ries. Abigail Grabein scored big to win the Limited Non Pro. Other Non Pros who made top 4 and qualified include Ron Thompson in the Non Pro, Amy Kowalsky in the Intermediate Non Pro, Mary Melanie Hutchins in the Novice Horse Non Pro. Leslie Temple qualified in both the Intermediate and Limited Open. Kim Ferguson made the Intermediate Open and Novice Horse Open and Kinzy Donnelly qualified for the Limited Open and Novice Horse Open.
