1 Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint Rules 2015 Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint Series will try to promote mini sprint racing as a fair and economical way to race and enjoy racing. We expect all members, non-members, and their guests to follow all rules and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times both at the track and in public. We will do our best to be as fair and understanding as the rules will allow. Any decision concerning enforcement of any rule will be discussed by the officers at the track and the individuals involved before a final decision is made about a rules infraction. We will not stop a race to discuss any such issues. This will be done after the completion of the race in question. Rule changes for the 2015 season have been made with clarity of the rules, fairness, and safety in mind. However, an underage driver with at least 4 years of racing experience in a competitive form of racing may be given the opportunity to drive in hot laps to allow the rules committee to evaluate his or her ability to handle their car on the track. If it is determined that the said driver is able to handle their car they may be allowed to enter their heat race but must start in the rear of the field. Once the rules committee has determined that the said driver can handle their car in race traffic they will be allowed to start the race as determined by their pill draw.

2 Applications Every competitor must apply for a competition license from Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint. Dues are $50.00 annually and run from January 1 st December 31 st. A temporary membership is available for $20.00 and is valid for 2 races. After the expiration of a temporary membership the competitor must pay for a full $50.00 membership if they wish to continue racing with Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprints. Dues must be paid by the first race for points and payout to be awarded. Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint officials reserve the right to refuse or revoke any membership application at any time if an applicant is deemed not to be an asset to the association. Engine Rules As of 2015, any engine prior to 2014 may be used as long as it conforms to all engine rules. If the engine rules do not say it is allowed, it is illegal. Any 4 cylinder, 4 cycle engine not exceeding 600cc from a production street legal motorcycle produced for use in the U.S.A. will be allowed. Engines must be stock with stock unaltered parts for that year, make, and model of engine only. No removal of any metal from engine or head allowed other than valve job. Engines must be stock bore and stroke for that year, make, and model engine. No aftermarket internal parts allowed with the exception of rod bolts and cam sprockets. Aftermarket cam chain tensioners, thermostat covers, water pump covers, and aftermarket oil pans and pickups are allowed. Stock ECU boxes modified for the use of methanol only. Charging systems must be hooked up, working, and unaltered. All cars must have a cockpit operated electric starter and an onboard battery capable of starting the engine. All cars must be chain driven off of the original countershaft. All serial numbers and stampings must be legible and unaltered. Engine Protest An engine protest may be made for a fee of $ The protest must be made within 10 minutes of the end of the feature race. The protest must be made to the Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint president or vice president by any driver with money in hand. No pooling of money allowed. The driver making the protest must clearly state the exact part they are protesting. The protest can include removal of the head and removal of the oil pan for inspection of protested part. If the protested part is found to be illegal, the driver making the protest will keep their money and the driver found to be illegal will be disqualified and lose all points and payout for that race. If the protested part is found to be legal, the protested driver will be given the $ protest fee. Any driver refusing an engine protest will be disqualified and receive a 2 race suspension, and their engine serial number will be recorded and banned from competition with Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprints.

3 Engine Claim An engine claim may be made against any of the top 4 cars that are requires to report to post race tech for $ The engine protest does not include the fuel system, intake, exhaust, electronics, harness, oil pan and pickup, thermostat cover, water pump cover, or spark plugs. All members are allowed to make 1 engine claim per year. Engine claims must be made to the Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint president or vice president within 10 minutes of the end of the feature race with money in hand. No pooling of money allowed. In order for a driver to make an engine claim they must finish the race and be in the top 10. Once an official claim is made their will be no backing out. Once an engine is claimed the Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint rules committee will tech the claimed engine to the best of our ability to insure that it is a legal engine. Once a claimed engine is found to be legal, the driver making the claim will receive the engine and the driver of the claimed engine will receive the $ If the engine is found to be illegal, the driver making the claim will keep their money and the driver of illegal motor will be disqualified and lose all points and payout for that race. The serial numbers of the illegal engine will be recorded and the engine will be banned from competition with Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprints. Any driver refusing the engine claim rule till be disqualified and receive a 2 race suspension. Post Race Inspection The top 4 cars after the feature race will go to the scales and report to a designated area for post race inspection. The car, driver, and 1 crew member will be allowed in the tech area. Any driver who returns to their trailer before going to the scales or post race inspection will be disqualified. Any driver refusing post race inspection will be disqualified and receive a 2 race suspension. Transmission No transmission modifications or removal of any gears allowed. Aftermarket clutch disks will be allowed. Shifters must be mounted within the cockpit area. Weight A minimum weight of 775 LBS after the race with the driver in the car will be enforced. Some tracks require us to weigh before the race, we will accommodate the tracks that require this.

4 Tires Hoosier tires only. The right rear tire must be a ASCS2 spec tire and durometer a 50 or higher after the race. All other tire positions are open. Tire grooving is allowed. No soaking or prepping of the tires, no bleeder valves. Bumpers and Nerf Bars Cars must have front and rear bumpers that extend beyond the tires. Cars must have right and left nerf bars the do not extend out past the tires. Any car losing a bumper or a nerf bar during the race will be black flagged until the repair is made. Shocks Any shock will be allowed. Cockpit adjustable shocks will be allowed. Brakes Brakes must be sufficient enough to slide the tires while the car is in motion. Front brakes and proportioning valves will be allowed. Bodies All body panels must be firmly attached at all times. Chain Guards Chain guards are mandatory and must be made of.090 or thicker material and must run from the front sprocket to an area behind the driver.

5 Fuel Systems Fuel injection or carburetors are allowed. No flat slide carburetors allowed. No mechanical injection allowed. The use of a power commander is allowed for fuel injection. Gasoline or methanol may be used. No fuel additives with the exception of top lube. Random fuel samples may be taken at any time. All cars must have a master kill switch clearly marked on the dash that kills the power to the fuel pump. Secondary throttle return springs are highly recommended. Fuel Cells Tail tanks and fuel cells will be allowed. Either option must have a bladder inside. Wings Right side wing panel is not to exceed 24 x54 and the left side wing panel is not to exceed 26 x54. Both wing side panels must cover the center section of the wing. Numbers Car numbers are reserved on a first come first served basis and will be retained as long as a membership is maintained. All cars must have legible numbers in contrasting colors on both win side panels, both sides fuel tank, and on the center section of the top wing. Numbers must be large enough to be seen by scoring. Electronics No radio communications between driver and crew at any time. Raceceivers are mandatory and must be used at all times.

6 Safety Safety inspections will take place at the beginning of the season and throughout the year. Safety issues that surface will be corrected before allowing the car with safety issues to return to the track. All safety inspections will be handled by the rules committee. Pit Safety Idle speed must be observed at all times in the pits. Each pit must be equipped with a fire extinguisher. Driver Safety Seat belts must be worn at all times and cannot be more than 5 years old. Any damaged seat belts must be replaced before returning to the track. Drivers must wear a minimum of a 5 point belt system. No cam lock style seat belts. Arm restraints must be worn at all times and must keep the drivers arms from extending out of the top of the roll cage or the sides of the car. Gloves must be worn at all times and must be SFI certified racing gloves that overlap the sleeves of the fire suit. Fire Suits must be worn at all times and must be SFI certified one layer or greater racing suit. Fire suits must not expose any skin below the neck. Multilayer suits and SFI certified head socks are highly recommended. Neck braces must be work at all times. A Hans device, Necksgen System, or an equivalent is highly recommended. Helmets are to be a full coverage competition style racing helmet with a minimum rating of SA2000 or newer. Face shields must be worn at all times. No motorcycle helmets. Rock guards are highly recommended. Any competitor without all proper safety gear will not be allowed on the race track.

7 Race Procedure It is mandatory that all drivers must attend the drivers meeting given by the track and the drivers meeting given by Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprints. All drivers must start in their assigned heat races. Any driver that misses their assigned heat race must start in the rear of the feature race. Any car losing excessive fluid will be black flagged and must leave the track until repairs are made. Rough driving will not be tolerated. The first incident will result in being sent to the rear of the field and the second incident will result in a black flag. Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprints will not tolerate any fighting. Arguing with any track official will result in a 1 race suspension. All complaints must be brought to the attention of a Gulf Coast Winged Mini Sprint Official. Drinking will not be tolerated in the pits. Points System Heat Race Feature Race 1 st 5 points 1 st 10 points 2 nd 4 points 2 nd 9 points 3 rd 3 points 3 rd 8 points 4 th 2 points 4 th 7 points 5 th and back 1 point 5 th 6 points 6 th 5 points 7 th 4 points 8 th 3 points 9 th and back 2 points 5 points will be awarded to drivers for show up points Each driver will drop their lowest points total for 1 race night in 2015 season.
