1 Nebraska State Mtcrss Series Rules f Cmpetitin These rules are t be used fr all events held in cnjunctin with the Nebraska State Mtcrss Series (NSMS). The Nebraska State Mtcrss Series is nt AMA sanctined but we d fllw the AMA rule bk. Belw are ur supplemental rules that are recgnized by the series that will gvern thse instances nt cvered in the AMA rule bk. Rules are subject t change at any time withut ntice. NSMS and/r each individual track reserves the right t refuse service t anyne. Please nte: It is the respnsibility f all entrants t familiarize themselves with, and fully understand these rules. If yu cannt, please speak t a NSMS fficial and he/she will attempt t explain the rules in a way yu can hpefully understand. Yu can als send yur questins t us via at nebraskamx@gmail.cm. Officials f the Nebraska State Mtcrss Series d nt test the skill f individual participants. Participants are slely respnsible fr their safety. 1 - General Rules Every persn wh enters any area f a NSMS event MUST sign a Release and Waiver f Liability. Any persn wh fails r refuses t sign said waiver shall be cnsidered t be trespassing at that event. In the state f Nebraska, n rider under the age f 18 may cmpete withut the written cnsent (signature n liability releases and entry frms) f his/her parents r legal guardians present at the meet. An authrized adult acting n behalf f the parents r legal guardians must prvide a ntarized statement indicating they have been given the authrity by the parent r legal guardian t be respnsible fr the minr during the meet. The parents, legal guardians r authrized adult must remain present while the rider he/she is respnsible fr is at the meet. All riders and ther race persnnel must assess fr themselves the track, facilities, existing cnditins and ther matters relating t safety. All riders and race persnnel must rely n their wn judgment and assume all risks f participating in cmpetitin f any manner. Rider medical insurance is nt prvided by NSMS r participating tracks fr ANY event.

2 Officials will nt be respnsible fr any tw different riders cmpeting in different classes n the same machine. It is up t the rider t ntify the persn wrking the starting gate f the situatin as sn as pssible. Time will be allwed (2 minutes max) fr the riders t switch befre starting the next race. Training wheels are nt permitted. Rider can use a different machine fr each mt but cannt use 2 different machines in the same mt. If switching machines between mts fr the same class, the machine shuld retain the same number as the riginal machine. If the number is different, the rider must ntify the scring team prir t the start f the mt. An admin fee f $5 may be assessed t change bike numbers. Yu will receive a DNS fr the mt if yu fail t ntify the scring team f the number change. 2 - Membership Cards and Race Day Sign Up Only riders hlding a valid NSMS membership r valid single event permit are eligible t participate in NSMS events. Only riders wh purchase a NSMS membership ($35/yr.) are eligible t earn pints twards the series. Only pints earned after the purchase f the NSMS membership card will apply twards year end pints/awards. Annual membership cards are valid fr the assigned calendar year nly and are available fr purchase at the track. Single event permits are available fr riders that d nt have a membership. Single day permits are valid fr the single event issued fr and cst $5 and may be purchased at the track the day f the event. (If yu are a member f anther Nebraska Series and shw yur membership card, yu d nt need t pay the Single Event permit fee. Thank yu fr participating in a mtcrss series in the state f Nebraska!) Yur current NSMS membership card must be presented at sign up Riders must sign up befre practice. A late fee f $5 will be assessed fr anyne wh signs up after 10am. T ensure accuracy f scring, duplicate numbers will nt be allwed. If yu are assigned a / r X, yu must use it. All mtrcycles must have legible numbers n all 3 number plates. Backgrunds must be f a cntrasting clr and be clearly readable frm 100 away. Bikes with n numbers r illegible numbers will nt be scred.

3 It is the rider s respnsibility t ensure all numbers are legible n the mtrcycle. Please clean ff number plates befre each mt. If the scring team cannt read yur number, scring errrs will result. Mtcrss riders must cmplete 10 f the 14 NSMS races t be eligible fr year-end awards. Pints frm all 14 events are used t calculate year end results. There are n drpped races. Quad riders must cmplete 7 f the 10 NSMS races t be eligible fr yearend awards. Pints fr all 10 events are used t calculate year end pints. There are n drpped races. 3 - Cnduct Any verbal harassment f track fficials will be grunds fr permanent disqualificatin/r fines fr the rider r party invlved. Any physical abuse f NSMS fficials, track wrkers, spectatrs, r fellw racers will be grunds fr permanent disqualificatin and allw fr ntice t ther tracks in the series t permanently ban said cmpetitr. Each rider assumes the cmplete respnsibility fr their pit crew/family and friends. Any rules infractin cmmitted by them will be reflected upn the racer and they will be penalized apprpriately. Ful riding, unnecessary bumping, crwding, lack f cautin, blcking, curse cutting r ther nn-sprtsmanlike cnduct is grunds fr disqualificatin r ther penalty as determined by track fficials. 4 - Age January 1st f the current event year determines the classes yuth riders are eligible fr. (example A rider that is 6 years ld n January 1, 2011, is eligible t ride as a 6 year ld fr the entire 2011 race seasn, regardless f their day f birth.) If yu have questins abut yur child s age and which class they shuld ride, please cntact us. Riders participating in the Vet classes must be the required minimum age n the day f the event (example - yu MUST be 30 years ld r lder the day f the race). Driver s license may be required at sign up. Prf f age (Birth Certificate r Driver s License) must be available upn request f the event staff r NSMS fficial. Failure t cmply will result in immediate disqualificatin.

4 5 - Starting Line and Racing First mt gate pick is determined by either sign in rder r randm cmputer pick. 2nd mt gate pick is determined by the results f the first mt. N tls such as shvels/rakes are permitted at the starting line. N ne ther than track fficials are allwed in frnt f the starting gate. D nt drp r pile dirt in the starting mechanism. N rider r rider representative will be allwed t hld r statin themselves in a preferred psitin n the gate. Riders must be capable f hlding their bikes up themselves. Starting blcks may be used. Riders may nt be held up by fenders r any ther part f their bike fr the start. In the event there are mre racers than gates, it is the track fficial s discretin t either run heats, r if there are nly a handful f extra racers, they may be lined up alng the edges f the gate. Special attentin will be paid t thse utside the gates t make sure there are n early starts. In the event f a starting gate malfunctin, a restart will be at the sle discretin f the track fficial. Riders will be ntified by a red flag n the track. If yu are caught jumping the gate, the race will be red flagged and yu will be required t start backwards n the restart. Refusal t abide by this rule will result in immediate disqualificatin. There will be n restarts unless determined by the race fficial that cntinuing the race will endanger the riders. If fr any reasn the race must be stpped it will be cnsidered cmplete if the leading rider has cmpleted ver 50% f the laps. (example: 3 laps in a 5 lap race) Lapped riders must mve ver r be black flagged. Yellw flag situatins NO passing, NO duble jumping, and NO tripling in the yellw flag area. NO imprvement f psitin. Penalty is a minimum f ne finishing psitin per infractin. Maximum penalty is disqualificatin. This will be the decisin f the race fficial. The white flag is a curtesy flag. It is nt necessary t display the white flag at the beginning f the final lap.

5 In the event that a mt is red flagged due t ne r mre riders bstructing the prgress and/r safety f that mt, the rider r riders that caused the stppage may nt be allwed t restart that mt unless allwed by the NSMS r track fficial. If a red flag is displayed during the race, all riders shuld return t the starting area t await further instructins. If during the riders meeting, it is stated that mts will be 5 laps and fr sme reasn the race is nt stpped until 6 r mre laps are cmpleted. The race will be cnsidered ver at the end f the 5th lap. Screkeepers lap sheets will determine mt finish. Riders wh are shwn the black flag during a race shuld exit the track and reprt t the track fficial immediately. The checkered flag is displayed t riders t annunce the end f the race. 6 - Scring A rider must be n the starting line and cmplete ne full lap under their wn pwer in at least ne mt befre being scred fr the day. NSMS fficials and track persnnel are nt respnsible fr lcating riders befre their event. If the rider leaves the curse fr ANY reasn, they must reenter the track at the safest pssible pint nearest their pint f exit, but nt at a pint where they imprve their psitin. Race fficials will determine cutting the curse ging arund a jump r bstacle. Penalty is 5 psitins. Infractins are judged n a case by case basis. DNS Did Nt Start A rider nt cming t the starting gate and/r cmpleting ne full lap will receive a DNS fr that mt. DNS results in n pints earned fr that mt tward the verall finish fr the race and zer pints tward the series fr that mt. DNF Did Nt Finish Riders will receive a DNF if they start the race and cmplete at least ne lap, but d nt take the checkered flag. A DNF results in last place pints earned fr that mt tward the series. DSQ Disqualified Disqualificatin f any kind will result in zer pints earned during that mt.

6 Series pints will be based n EACH MOTO finish at each event. (Example Rider gets 1st place in mt 1 and 10th place in mt 2, the rider will receive 39 pts twards the series.)
