1 Permit Approval #0518/PB 2018 STATE SERIES AND INTER-CLUB CHALLENGE RULES 2018 BMX Victoria (BMXV) State Series are Class S events run to UCI BMX rules with Australian Rules (as amended) and as disclosed in this document BMXV State Series events are incorporated into BMXV sanctioned open events; specific entry conditions of each host club event are also applicable BMXV Inter-Club Challenge is a competition run in association with the 2018 BMXV State Series at BMXV sanctioned opens. 1. Preamble Victorian 2018 State Series features: Classes o Mini-Wheelers o Sprockets o Age 20 (Novice and Expert) o Pro Classes o Cruiser o Retro Seventeen round series incorporated into existing sanctioned open events on the BMXV calendar Open to all BMX Australia licensed riders (including 4 month licenses) FREE entry. Automatic entry to the series when entered in a class at the host open event Awards for riders ranked 1-8 at the end of Series Awards for all qualified Mini-Wheelers and Sprockets Riders obtaining a series ranking of 1 8 are eligible to use the corresponding ranking plate with the vss suffix until the end of the 2019 State Series 2. Age Determination UCI Year of Birth for all BMXV State Series classes, i.e. age at 31st December Age Groups/Classes The following classes are offered at the start of the series: Mini-wheelers: Boys & Girls 2-4 (1 class) Sprockets: 5 & Under, 6, 7, Girls (4 classes) 20 Expert Male and Female Classes: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, (20 classes) 20 Novice Classes: 8-9, 10-11, (Combined boys & girls) (3 classes) Cruiser Male and Female Classes: 8-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17+ (10 classes)

2 Open Wheel Male and Female Classes: 30-39, 40-49, 50+ (6 classes) Retro: 8-13, 14-29, 30+ (Combined) (3 classes) Pro Classes: Superclass Men, Superclass Women, Masterclass (3 classes) A rider will earn series points in the class as entered. When classes are merged; they will receive series points as scored in the class entered. Minimum number of riders that constitute a class; as disclosed in the host open flier. Note 1: NOVICE GUIDELINES (applicable to 2018 BMX Victoria State Series): Riders will be considered NOVICE if they have not been placed as follows: o Top 3 in the 2017 BMX Victoria State Series o Top 8 Victorian riders in the 2017 BMX Victoria State Championships o Top 16 in the 2017 BMXA National Championships Riders may be elevated to expert status at the discretion of the State Officiating Director Open to both male and female riders Novice riders will be ranked for transfer purposes only (only the top eight (8) expert riders may display ranking plates) 4. Format The number of motos in each qualifying round will be as disclosed in the host open flier. Provision of invitation finals will be as disclosed in the host open flier. After the 1 st round, the leader from each class (excluding Mini-Wheeler and Sprocket) will be required to ride with the Series Leader s Plate. 5. Entry Fees / Requirements Entry to the BMXV State Series is automatic when entering any supported class at a host open event. There is no additional cost for entering the BMXV State Series.

This round is considered regional. 2. Format to be determined 7. Qualifying / Ranking all classes A rider must enter a minimum of three (3) regional rounds (See 2018 Race Schedule above for more information) to qualify for series ranking and/or award. There is no minimum requirement for metropolitan rounds. The best eight (8) results from all rounds entered by a rider will be counted towards their final series ranking in each class, excluding participation classes. In the event of 2 or more riders being tied for any of the places a countback process will be used. This will be determined by the rider with the most 1 st place round finishes throughout the series. If there is still a tie it will fold down to the rider with the most 2 nd place round finishes and so on if still tied, until there is a clear winner. A rider must be scored in at least 1 moto in order to use the round as a qualifier for the Series. A rider may only qualify for awards in a maximum of four (4) age group / classes for the Series, these being limited to one (1) each of the following: Age Cruiser Retro Superclass / Masterclass

4 In the event a rider qualifies for awards in more than one (1) of the above categories, only the class with the highest overall result will be recognised. 8. Awards Riders ranked in the Top 8 in all classes participating in this Series receive a Series Award. Awards for Novice classes will be appropriately sized (BMXA Rule 003.6). Riders ranked in the Top 8 in all classes participating in this Series (excluding Novice classes) may display a ranking plate for one year or until the end of the next series, whichever is sooner. Novice riders will be ranked for transfer purposes only (only the top eight (8) expert riders may display ranking plates) (BMXA Rule 003.4). Qualified Mini Wheelers and Sprockets will all receive the same award. In addition to the above, Pro Classes Places 1 to 8 Superclass Men $1,000 Superclass Women $1,000 Masterclass $ Presentations Venue: Portland BMX Track Time: Shortly after last final Who: Top 8 in each class, all qualified Mini-Wheelers & Sprockets 10. Series Round Scoring Notwithstanding anything contained in the current UCI BMX Rules and BMXA Australian Rule Book (As Amended) the following rules apply to the 2018 BMXV State Series Rounds Scoring Mini Wheelers and Sprockets are participation classes and will not be competitively scored. Points are gained from all motos, qualifying races and Expert Finals (Invitational Finals are not counted) as follows: Moto / Qualifier / Expert Final Result Points per Moto / Qualifier Points per Expert Final 1 st nd rd th th th th th 1 2

5 DNF will score last place points (based on the number of riders in the race). DNS will score no points. REL will score no points. In the event of a tie at each round, the riders overall position will be decided by a count back on places. If a tie still exists, count back on fastest time will be used. Results Results of each round and running series scores will be published on the BMXV website ( and kept up to date throughout the series. 11. Inter-Club Challenge Scoring At the conclusion of each host event, clubs will be awarded the points from their registered club member with the single highest result on the day. If a rider transfers clubs during the year, these points are not transferable to the new club. Award The highest ranking club at the end of the Inter-Club Challenge will be awarded with both a perpetual trophy and a memorial award commemorating their achievement.
