1 Fellow Shooters: Welcome to the 2016 trapshooting season. This upcoming year will mark the fifth anniversary of the Maryland State Shoot being held on the lovely Thurmont home grounds. Although the 2015 state shoot was notably rainy and muddy, we are still proud to report success and profits despite less than comfortable conditions. Heartfelt thanks go to each and every individual who came out and supported our championship event, as well as those who volunteered their time to make the shoot go so smoothly. The Thurmont home grounds are flourishing, with an abundance of positive feedback; we hope to keep this up and to make further improvements. The MSSA is happy to utilize anyone willing and able to volunteer time to continue this success. It is because of volunteers that we are able to keep Maryland strong in registered trapshooting. The state association would like to invite everyone to return to our annual MSSA championship again in June of 2016, and to invite any friends, family, or neighbors to join you. The good sportsmanship attitude our trapshooting community exhibits is something we should be proud of and should continue to share with others. I myself have grown up in our trapshooting family, and attribute much of my "staying out of trouble" to this sport. For this reason, I ask that we focus this year on encouraging any interested youth to check out our AIM program, and by doing so help to secure the future of the sport. MSSA has recently updated our website and is focusing on continually improving our web presence, which we recognize is paramount to staying relevant and to having information easily accessible. Visit the web page at marylandtrapshooting.com and feel free to provide any feedback or suggestions. I hope to see you all out and about this year at our local clubs, and I wish you the best of luck in the 2016 season. Russell Comer MSSA President

Please contact Joanna Hughes to register as soon as possible. Camping fees apply. Contact: Joanna Hughes 2602 Sandy Hook Rd Forest Hill, MD ATTENTION ALL SPECIAL CATEGORY SHOOTERS It is very important for you to remember the ATA Rules regarding your responsibility for declaring your special category eligibility. When you are CLASSIFIED - you must tell the Classification Committee member handling your card whether or not you are eligible for any special category, and check your Classification receipt to be certain that it shows your correct eligibility. Remember the ATA rule change regarding special categories. A shooter can declare only one special category - not two (Lady - not Lady/Vet or Junior - not Lady/Junior, etc.). If a special category shooter ties for champion in any event and loses in the shoot off, he or she automatically falls back to the special category trophy. You will NOT be eligible for any special category trophies if your Classification does not include that information. CLOSING TIMES The Closing Times listed are the times the cashier window closes for that Event. If your entry is not paid prior to the closing time, you will not be able to enter that Event.

43 **RESQUADDING PENALTY** It is the shooter s responsibility to watch the board and be at the starting trap on time. No shooter will be called for his/her squad. Any shooter missing his/her squad or changing squads for any reason other than earned yardage who desires to re-enter, shall pay a $25.00 resquadding penalty. No shooter will be allowed to make up more than 50 targets on the practice trap if he/she has missed his or her squad. If the shooter is unable to join the squad before they have started their 3rd sub event, the shooter must be resquadded and pay the $25.00 penalty. SHOOTERS CAUTION A shooter can make only one entry per event. Once the entry has been made, the cashier will not accept additional option monies from the shooter. POSITIVELY NO CHANGES, WITHDRAWALS, OR REFUNDS will be allowed once the entry has been made.
