2 NFL * Los Angeles Chargers over *Oakland by 28 If Jon Gruden had any honor he would return the $100 million the Raiders foolishly paid him for the next 10 years. Gruden can get up at 2:30 in the morning instead of 3:30 but it s not going to make any difference. The Raiders are a totally broken team. It s either fade or pass them and we ll go the fade route against this mixed-up, morale-challenged squad that already is in full tank mode. It takes a special kind of horrendous football team to lose 34-3 to a 1-7 opponent that was down to a free agent third-string quarterback like the 49ers were this past Thursday. No overreaction either. Gruden has now sent packing his two best pass rushers, Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin, along with his top wide receiver, Amari Cooper. Maybe the draft choices the Raiders received for these players will pan out in Oh, yes, the Raiders don t have a decent runner either with Marshawn Lynch out. Derek Carr has reverted back to being a dink-and-dunker, his confidence ruined by Gruden. The Raiders roster is the worst in the NFL now and that was before the Chargers whipped them, 26-10, four games ago. Oakland has scored three points in two of its last three games. Philip Rivers is playing high-efficiency football with a 23-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his past 10 games. The Raiders aren t going to bother him with a league-low seven sacks. Melvin Gordon poses another problem for Oakland, having cleared 100 total yards and/or scored a touchdown in 12 consecutive games. It s an added bonus for the Chargers if Joey Bosa makes his season debut, although they are hardly need him against this soft opponent. LA CHARGERS *Cincinnati over New Orleans by 12 Let s get the bad news out first. A.J. Green has a toe injury and isn t likely to play. The Bengals gave up 3,582 yards through their first eight games. That ranked as the second-most yards allowed through the first half of a season by any team in the Super Bowl era. So why back Cincinnati so strong? Let us count the ways: Ripe circumstances, off-surface for New Orleans, underrated Bengals players and a 9-2 ATS home angle Cincinnati has versus above.500 road opponents. New Orleans is coming off a monster home shootout victory against the Rams knocking them from their unbeaten ranks. It s going to be difficult for the Saints to get up for this nonconference matchup especially with a home game against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles looming next. This game is outdoors. The Saints and Drew Brees have proven more effective playing inside their Louisiana Superdome. Before beating the Rams by 10 points, the Saints had been fortunate in their previous two games surviving the Ravens due to a missed extra point and getting past Minnesota because of two crucial Viking turnovers. The Bengals are fresh coming off their bye. Andy Dalton is on pace to throw for a career-high in touchdown passes. Joe Mixon is healthy again and off his best game. The Bengals entered their bye leading the NFL in red zone offense with 77 percent touchdowns. The Saints will be missing their second-best pass rusher, injured rookie Marcus Davenport, who has four sacks and 10 quarterback hurries. New Orleans has only eight takeaways. The Bengals have getting outstanding seasons from stalwart defensive linemen Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap. CINCINNATI *Green Bay over Miami by 18 After facing two of the five-highest scoring teams in the league, the Rams and Patriots both on the road the past two weeks, the Packers return to Lambeau Field for their lone home matchup in a five-week span. Green Bay is in a crucial spot at 3-4-1, which is its worst record after seven games in the Aaron Rodgers era. The Packers minus 12 point differential also is the lowest of the Rodgers era at the halfway point on the season. Simply put, the Packers can t afford to take a loss here with road games looming at Seattle and Minnesota in the next two weeks. Green Bay s chances are greatly aided by Brock Osweiler expected to draw another start as Ryan Tannehill still is recovering from a shoulder injury. The Packers youthful, but promising secondary, should fare much better going against Osweiler instead of Tom Brady and Jared Goff. The Dolphins lack a top-notch receiving threat. Aaron Jones is providing running back help for Rodgers. The Dolphins have allowed 100-plus rushing yards in six of their last seven games. Miami is in its last five November games. GREEN BAY *CLOSE CALLS Atlanta over *Cleveland by 13 Common sense and the math of winning three out of 40 games finally got Hue Jackson fired. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley also was let go. Jackson may have been the worst coach in the NFL. The Browns new offensive coordinator and playcaller is Freddie Kitchens, who has never held either of those roles in college or NFL. Coaching matters. So does the quarterback spot. Rookie Baker Mayfield is rudderless. He doesn t have outstanding skill position players to rely on either. Matt Ryan is putting up numbers close to his MVP season of just two years ago ranking in the top-five in passer rating, throwing for at least 350 yards in five of his last six games while posting a 17-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his last six outings. Cleveland is despite being a plus 11 in turnover margin. The Browns offense is in chaos and their defense is wearing down from having already played four overtime games. Cleveland is ill-equipped to handle Ryan and his three-headed wide receiver monster of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu especially after suffering multiple injuries in its secondary this past Sunday. ATLANTA *Pittsburgh over Carolina by 6 (Thursday) It is not easy to go against either of these teams right now. Carolina has won five of its last six. Pittsburgh is on a four-game win streak. Both are off division wins with the Steelers posting the more impressive victory upsetting the Ravens in Baltimore. James Conner has made people forget about holdout Le Veon Bell by scoring 10 touchdowns, most by a Steelers player through eight games since The Panthers do possess that rare linebacker speed to combat Pittsburgh s quick passing attack with Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis and Shaq Thompson. However, the Panthers secondary has surrendered multiple touchdown passes in seven consecutive games. PITTSBURGH *New York Jets over Buffalo by 5 It s matchups like this that make the AFC East Division the worst in the NFL. Sam Darnold is hard-pressed to produce much offensive flash with such an injury-ruined supporting cast and mediocre offensive line. Bills coach Sean McDermott is capable of putting together a solid defensive game plan against the Jets. Darnold just needs to avoid interceptions, though, when his opposite quarterback could be Nathan Peterman, who has thrown seven interceptions to just one touchdown pass. The Jets are averaging 11 points in their last three games. Buffalo s offense is even worse. The Bills are averaging a puny 7.6 points in their last six games. NY JETS *Tampa Bay over Washington by 6 Washington s ground and pound just doesn t cut it in today s NFL. The Buccaneers have one of the best passing attacks in the NFL with four excellent wideouts and two good tight ends. They make Ryan Fitzpatrick shine. So does Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken with his aggressive pass-first approach. Alex Smith has to rely on ancient Adrian Peterson and an offensive line that could be down three starters left tackle Trent Williams, left guard Shaun Lauvao and right guard Brandon Scherff. The Buccaneers give up the most points in the league. However, their defense is improved with the return last Sunday of star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. TAMPA BAY New England over *Tennessee by 3 The Titans have playoff revenge and draw the Patriots off a marquee Sunday night home matchup against the Packers. Tom Brady struggled in road dates against the Bills, Lions and Jaguars. The Patriots lost to the Lions and Jaguars by a combined 27 points, averaging only 15 points in those losses. They got past the Bears in Chicago, 38-31, because of touchdowns coming from a kickoff return and blocked punt. They needed a late pick-six from third-string quarterback Derek Anderson to cover against the Bills in Buffalo producing only one touchdown on offense. Tennessee is 8-2 SU, ATS in its past 10 games at Nissan Stadium. NEW ENGLAND

3 *Indianapolis over Jacksonville by 1 The Jaguars are a bad 3-5. The Colts are a good 3-5 if there is such a thing. Andrew Luck being comfortable in the pocket again after missing last year and the emergence of Marlon Mack as a dangerous running back along with an underrated defense featuring star rookie linebacker Darius Leonard makes the Colts worthy of respect. Luck has thrown 18 touchdown passes in his last five games. Mack is averaging 6.1 yards in his past three games spanning 61 carries. The Jaguars could make an overdue move now since Leonard Fournette is expected back. But who can trust Blake Bortles? It s a wonder the Jaguars didn t ring David Garrard during their bye week. INDIANAPOLIS *Chicago over Detroit by 9 It s too early to sound the alarm on the Lions, but there is no Golden Tate anymore and Matthew Stafford getting sacked 10 times at Minnesota this past Sunday does raise a red flag about Detroit s pass protection. Maybe it s just a coincidence but Stafford s string of six straight games of multiple touchdown passes ended in his first game minus Tate, who had been the target of 27 percent of Stafford s throws. The Bears are that rare team that ranks in the top six both in points scored and fewest points allowed. They have the second-best scoring differential in the NFC at plus 82. Detroit has become more run-oriented, but Chicago has permitted just one rushing touchdown. CHICAGO *Kansas City over Arizona by 21 Following his team s bye week, new Cardinals offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich is going to have to make like Dr. Frankenstein to inject enough life into a Cardinals offense that ranks either last or near the bottom in all major categories in order to keep within miles of Kansas City s high-powered attack. Patrick Mahomes has passed for 3,185 yards and 29 touchdowns and he still has seven more regular season games to go! Kansas City has held opponents to 18.5 points at Arrowhead Stadium compared to yielding 30.4 points per game on the road. The Chiefs average 36.3 points. The Cardinals have put up more than 18 points only once. KANSAS CITY *Los Angeles Rams over Seattle by 4 The Seahawks nearly beat the Rams in Week 5, losing Seattle can t match the Rams superior weaponry, but this rematch figures to be close, too. Only one of the Rams past five victories have been by more than seven points. Russell Wilson has thrown 11 touchdowns in his last 93 attempts for an impressive 11.8 percent touchdown rate. The Rams have surrendered 16 touchdown passes in their last seven games with just three interceptions during this time frame. Seattle can play ball-control averaging yards on the ground the past four games. The Seahawks rushed for 190 yards against the Rams while averaging 5.9 yards per run. LA RAMS *Philadelphia over Dallas by 10 Even though they were idle last Sunday, the Eagles got better by trading for Golden Tate. Carson Wentz now has three strong receiving targets; Tate, Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz. The Eagles are 0-3 ATS in their last three home games with SU losses to the Vikings and Panthers. However, the schedule maker didn t help Dallas. The Cowboys are traveling on a short week after hosting the Titans on Monday to meet a rested foe. The Cowboys went into their Monday night matchup having scored 20, 26 and 40 points in their home games compared to only eight, 13, 16 and 17 points during their four road matchups for an away average of 13.5 points. PHILADEL- PHIA *San Francisco over New York Giants by 3 (Monday) This nationally televised matchup of bottom feeders might be saved by the saga of Nick Mullens, whose passer rating in the 49ers 34-3 dismantling of the Raiders last Thursday was the highest by any player making his NFL debut since the 1970 merger. It was just San Francisco s second win without Jimmy Garoppolo behind center in two seasons. The 49ers had scored a combined 25 points in their previous two games, losses to the Cardinals and Rams. If you like obscure angles try this one: West Coast teams are (66 percent) ATS when hosting an East Coast team playing a prime time game with a 5 p.m. or later Pacific time start. SAN FRANCISCO NFL OVER/UNDER **Under: New England at Tennessee The Patriots average less than two offensive touchdowns on the road, while the Titans entered Monday scoring fewer than 21 points in six of seven games. Under: Buffalo at New York Jets - The Jets have been held to 17 points or fewer in six of their past eight games, while the Bills have broken the 13-point barrier only twice all year and lack an NFL starting-caliber quarterback. Over: Washington at Tampa Bay Even game-manager Alex Smith should put up huge numbers against Tampa Bay s last-ranked defense, while the Bucs have produced 26 or more points in all but one of their eight games. HISTORICAL TRENDS Carolina at Pittsburgh The Steelers rolled past the Panthers, 37-19, on the road in Buffalo at New York Jets The teams split last season with the Bills winning at home and losing on the road. The Jets are 3-1 SU and ATS the past two years versus the Bills. Atlanta at Cleveland The Browns won 26-24, on the road in New Orleans at Cincinnati The Bengals whipped the Saints, 27-10, on the road in Washington at Tampa Bay The Redskins edged the Buccaneers, 31-30, at home in New England at Tennessee The Patriots buried the Titans, 35-14, at home in the playoffs last season. Miami at Green Bay The Packers defeated the Dolphins, 27-24, on the road in Jacksonville at Indianapolis The Jaguars swept the Colts last season winning 27-0 on the road and at home. The Jaguars are 4-1 SU, 5-0 ATS in their past five meetings against the Colts. Detroit at Chicago Detroit beat Chicago, on the road, and at home last year. The Lions are 9-1 SU, ATS in their last 10 games versus the Bears. Arizona at Kansas City The Cardinals beat the Chiefs, 17-14, at home in Los Angeles Chargers at Oakland The Chargers trimmed the Raiders, 26-10, in Week 5. The Chargers are 3-0 SU, ATS in their last three meetings with the Raiders. Seattle at Los Angeles Rams The Rams squeaked past the Seahawks, 33-31, in Week 5. Dallas at Philadelphia The Eagles rolled past the Cowboys 37-9 on the road and lost at home to Dallas, 6-0, in Week 17 of last season when the Eagles were resting starters. The under has cashed in three of the past four meetings. New York Giants at San Francisco The 49ers whipped the Giants, 31-21, at home last season. BONUS BEST BETS ON-LINE

6 COLLEGE FOOTBALL * Wisconsin over Penn St.* by 10 Penn St. s dreams of a championship season came to an end last week in their 42-7 shellacking at the hands of Michigan. The Nittany Lions had been sliding statistically in the second half of the season as the competition got more difficult and that trend should continue. Even if you take out the Michigan game, they have close losses to MSU and OSU along with an ugly wins against Indiana and Iowa. The Badgers don t have the defense that Michigan does, but they can hold their own, particularly when PSU has a gimpy QB in Trace McSorley. More importantly, Michigan s gameplan of pounding the ball to control the clock and wear down Penn St. s defense is right up Wisconsin s alley. QB Alex Hornibrook left last week s game vs. Rutgers with concussion symptoms, but backup Jack Coan now has valuable experience in multiple games and the team is high on him. No matter which QB plays, this team will lean on a running game that averages 273 yards per game. Penn St. has been outyarded in both passing and rushing in each of their last three games, as their young defense wears down. Trace McSorley has been relied upon heavily in the last few years and even ignoring his current knee injury, it s clear that the workload has taken a toll. His yards per attempt has gone down for three straight years as his carry totals have gone up. If he can t run like he s done in the past, he doesn t have the passing ability right now to hurt defenses. WISCONSIN Miami-Fla. over Georgia Tech* by 7 These sides appear to be trending in opposite directions, which seems to give the Canes some value. Their offense has been woeful, averaging 13 points across their current three-game losing streak, but the Jackets haven t held an ACC opponent under 24 points, including lowly Louisville and North Carolina. Georgia Tech is still a 5-4 team, with their best win being against a mediocre Virginia Tech side, otherwise beating Alcorn State, Bowling Green, and the aforementioned Cardinals and Tar Heels while losing to an overrated and now exposed USF. Defense has not been an issue for Miami, as they continue to lead the nation in tackles for loss at 94, while ranking 23rd against the rush, allowing 3.23 ypc. A dominant line and veteran linebacking corps will put GT in 2nd and long situations. Dating back to his days at Georgia, Mark Richt is 15-2 against the Jackets, including 2-0 at Miami. That trend paired with getting points, and the considerably better defense has Miami pulling off an upset. MIAMI-FLA Oregon over Utah* by 7 Last week was a bad one for Utah even beyond getting ripped for 38 points and 536 yards by Arizona St. as they lost QB Tyler Huntley, who inured his collarbone. Redshirt freshman backup Jason Shelley is a good runner who has a ways to go as a passer. He hasn t done much in mop-up duty this year and now he will be counted upon to keep up with Oregon s offense. Utah s defense is generally great, but much of their best work came early in the year. Oregon comes in as an underdog even with Utah s injury. The Ducks have won the last two years, including last year s 21-point victory. Sure, it s tough to play in Utah, but in a game without much margin for error, we have to side with the team that has a pulse on offense along with their successful recent history, The Ducks responded big time last week after two straight disappointing defeats. Expect them to keep trending up. OREGON Buffalo* over Kent St. by 27 (Tuesday) Kent has given up the third-most points in a bad defensive conference. Buffalo has gone for 30 or more in all but one of their wins. BUFFALO Ohio over Miami-Ohio* by 5 (Wednesday) The Bobcats offense is clicking, scoring at least 49 in three straight, and will be too much for Miami to keep up with. OHIO Northern Illinois* over Toledo by 5 (Wednesday) NIU boasts by far the MAC s best defense, and the offense is coming around. They ll slow down the Rockets attack that is hindered by injuries and inexperience under center. NO. ILLINOIS N.C. State* over Wake Forest by 17 (Thursday) Wake can t stop anyone, most recently allowing 41 to a usually pass-happy Syracuse despite holding them to 157 yards through the air. NC STATE Syracuse* over Louisville by 24 (Friday) No team appears to have quit more than Louisville, having allowed 56 or more points in three of their last four. SYRACUSE Fresno St. Boise St.* by 3 (Friday) This will be a fun one with two big time QBs slinging it around. These teams combine for 78.4 points per game. FRESNO ST *CLOSE CALLS Cincinnati* over South Florida by 28 Things have unraveled quickly for the Bulls, who have now been exposed after their fraudulent 7-0 start. Yes, they beat the teams in front of them, but those teams were Elon, Georgia Tech, Illinois, ECU, UMass, Tulsa and UConn. In their first real competition, they fell at Houston by 21 and followed it up with a somewhat surprising 26 point home lose to Tulane. Defense has been an issue all year, but glaringly so in their losing streak, where they ve allowed 98 points, continuing their year-long vulnerability on the ground. The Bulls rank 124th against the rush, allowing yards per game, having allowed at least 263 yards in three straight, twice allowing 322+ yards and 12 rushing scores in that span. That looks like bad news with a road trip to Ohio looming. Cincinnati ranks 16th nationally in rushing offense, going for nightly. They rank sixth in rushing touchdowns at 28, but aren t one-dimensional either, four times having thrown for 274 yards or more. The Bearcats have rebounded from their lone defeat to Temple, a game where they missed three field goals, turned the ball over three times and allowed a game-tying TD with under a minute left before falling in overtime, winning at SMU before blanking Navy Cincy is 6-3 ATS, including a 3-1 mark at home, and their defense will make it difficult on USF, ranking 15th against the run, ninth against the pass and sixth in points. Mix in some cold weather, and the Bearcats physicality should dominate. CINCINNATI Notre Dame* over Florida St. by 28 Finding value in the Irish has been tough, as this undefeated squad is just 5-4 ATS. The value here comes from Florida State however, who is only 3-6 ATS, including a 1-3 mark on the road. They continue to self inflict trouble, committing 16 penalties for 121 yards at North Carolina State, where backup quarterback James Blackman threw for a career-high 421 yards and four scores while still losing by 19. Of the Noles five losses, four have been by at least 19, around where this contest opened. Behind one of the worst offensive lines in the country, FSU ranks 128th in rush offense, averaging only 76.9 ypg. It makes them one dimensional, and repeated aerial success against Notre Dame seems unlikely. The Irish have allowed six passing touchdowns to date while holding six teams under 181 yards. Weather is worth watching against the warm-temp living Noles, with Saturday s high looking to be in the mid-30s. FSU isn t likely to score much, and once they fall behind, the will to compete will be zapped. NOTRE DAME Ohio St. over Michigan St.* by 13 At least with regards to the spread, Ohio St. has played below expectations, covering three times in six games. Still, if they win out they have a real chance at the playoff and they would never take a rival like MSU lightly. Recent OSU teams have been a mix of strong running with timely passing, but this year s team can really do both at a high level. The Spartans have a strong run defense, but they are allowing passing ypg. OSU QB Dwayne Haskins is a Heisman candidate with 32 TDs and six INTs, completing almost 70% of his passes. MSU QB Brian Lewerke has been banged up all year and it shows. In his last three games, he s averaged no more than 5.0 ypa or completed more than 55% of his passes. The road team has covered in seven of the last ten meetings. This isn t Ohio St. s best defense, but the Spartans aren t in a position to capitalize. Ohio St Houston* over Temple by 7 Temple looked pretty good despite being on the wrong side of the score at UCF, but they now must to deal with a focused Cougar squad that rights itself after last week s upset loss at SMU. HOUSTON Michigan over Rutgers* by 39 The only way Rutgers covers is if Michigan gets up big enough early to dig deep into their bench. Still, the backups are better than Rutgers. MICHIGAN Pittsburgh* over Virginia Tech by 5 VT has allowed 10 rushing scores in the last two weeks, and the 4.5 ypc allowed last week were the lowest in four weeks. Pitt will smash the Hokies up front, sending them to a third straight loss. PITTSBURGH Clemson over Boston College* by 15 Clemson s offense is peaking and their rush defense is fourth nationally. But a healthy A.J. Dillon gives BC a puncher s chance. CLEMSON Texas A&M* over Mississippi by 13 Ole Miss scored 16 against Auburn and LSU, and seven against Bama. The Aggies aren t on that tier defensively, but they aren t two tiers below, ranking 33rd nationally allowing 22.2 ppg. They ll snap a two game skid against a squad playing just their third road game. TEXAS A&M
