Fresno State sophomore guard Cezar Guerrero scored a team-high 18 points and junior Alex Davis posted his second career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass. DOGS DROP DOUBLE OT HEARTBREAKER TO NEVADA, Fresno State made clutch shots to get late leads in regulation and the first overtime, but Nevada kept finding ways to recover from them and then ran away from the Bulldogs in the second overtime to pull out a win in double overtime on Jan. 22 at the Save Mart Center. Six Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Tyler Johnson s 20 point night. DOGS DEFEATED BY NEW MEXICO, Fresno State made a push late in the game, but couldn t quite get over the hump on Jan. 18 in an loss to defending conference champion New Mexico. The Bulldogs and Lobos combined to shoot 74 free throws and committed 52 fouls. There were 44 fouls and 69 free throws in the second half alone. Four Fresno State players scored double figures, led by Tyler Johnson s 16 points. PRESEASON MW MEDIA POLL Teams (1st Place Votes) - Points 1. New Mexico (23) T-2. UNLV (1) T-2. Even though the Bulldogs battled for 40 minutes before falling 68-60, Fresno State did almost everything it needed to do to knock off the MW-leading Aztecs except get to the free throw line. BULLDOGS FALL AT COLORADO STATE, Fresno State suffered a road loss at Colorado State on Jan. 11. Bulldogs senior guard Tyler Johnson scored a game-high 21 points despite playing much of the game in foul trouble. Freshman Paul Watson added 12 points and sophomore Cezar Guerrero posted 11. After a strong start that put the Bulldogs in front 12-4, Fresno State allowed Colorado State go on a 29-6 run over the next 10:36 that gave the Rams a lead. Fresno State chipped away in the second half - cutting its deficit to just five points - before the Rams pulled away for good with a 14-1 run to close the game.

4 DOGS TAKE DOWN AIR FORCE, GRAB FIRST MW WIN After a dominant defensive performance in the first half, Fresno State held on late to hand then-previously unbeaten Air Force its first loss on Jan. 8. The Bulldogs held the Falcons to just 16 points in the first half while building an 11-point halftime lead. Air Force, which came into the contest shooting 47% on the year, was just 5-for-25 from the field in the opening half. AFA s only bucket in the final 7:20 came on a Kamryn Williams three-pointer with 44 seconds left in the half. DOGS FIGHT BACK BEFORE FALLING AT BOISE STATE Fresno State largely diffused a sizzling Boise State squad in the second half and the Bulldogs nearly overcame a 24-point deficit while losing to the Broncos on Jan. 4 at Taco Bell Arena. Bulldogs senior guard Tyler Johnson scored a game-best 22 points and reeled in eight rebounds to lead the Dogs offensively and defensively. HARRIS NETS 25 IN BULLDOGS LOSS TO UNLV Fresno State sophomore guard Marvelle Harris scored a game-best 25 points, but the Bulldogs couldn t overcome a strong second-half surge by the UNLV Runnin Rebels as Fresno State dropped its conference opener to UNLV on New Year s Day at the Save Mart Center. For Harris, it was his fourth career game with at least 25 points. HUDDLESTON BEATS BUZZER AS DOGS DOWN UCI IN OT Bulldogs senior guard Allen Huddleston delivered an epic 40-foot 3-pointer from half court at the overtime buzzer that lifted Fresno State past UC Irvine on Nov. 8 at the Bren Events Center. Fresno State shot a blistering 51.6 percent from the field, including 14-of-30 from beyond the 3-point arc and largely limited UCI s size advantage in the post. But to put themselves in position to take down the preseason Big West favorite, the Bulldogs turned to its backcourt - that produced an outstanding effort and scored 78 of Fresno State s 98 points. HUDDLESTON S BUZZER-BEATER HITS ESPN, GOES VIRAL The game-winner - which was featured as the top story on ESPN s 11 p.m. PT Sportscenter telecast - was the fifth lead change in the final minute of overtime of a game. Later in that Sportscenter broadcast, Huddleston was on live with ESPN s Stan Verrett talking about the buzzerbeater that punctuated the opening day of the season. In the first two days after it happened, the game-winning buzzer-beater had already been viewed more than 125,000 times on YouTube. HARRIS EARNS MW HONORS FOR CAREER NIGHT AT UCI Sophomore shooting guard Marvelle Harris scored a career-best 30 points in Fresno State s season-opening overtime win at UC Irvine. In total, Harris set or tied career-high marks in nine major statistical categories. He went 10-of-15 from the field, hit four of his eight 3-point attempts and added a perfect 6-for-6 clip at the free throw line. He also had seven rebounds and five assists in 44 minutes of action. BULLDOGS SET PROGRAM RECORD WITH 61-POINT WIN Fresno State set a new program record with a 61-point victory (104-43) over UC Merced at the Save Mart Center on Dec. 28, The 61-point win eclipsed the 59-point victory over San Diego in the season as the largest margin of victory in school history. This was the first time that Fresno State scored over 100 points in the Terry era and the first time since scoring 107 points in a double overtime win over Nevada on March 1, Fresno State shot a season-high 58.2 percent and was able to get 30 second-chance points off of 21 offensive rebounds in the game. DOGS SHINE IN OT THRILLERS IN SEASON S FIRST MONTH In its first nine games of the season Fresno State played three overtime games - winning all three. The Bulldogs opened by beating UC Irvine when Allen Huddleston banked in 40-foot buzzer beater. And then during its 29th Fresno State Classic, the Dogs outlasted Bakersfield (96-86) and Northern Arizona (71-67). JOHNSON NEARS TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN OPENING WIN Senior guard Tyler Johnson posted 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in Fresno State s overtime win at UCI. Johnson came up just two assists shy from what would have been the sixth triple-double in school history. But the team captain s most important decision of the night was his inbounds pass to Allen Huddleston with 2.1 seconds left in overtime that led to Huddleston s 40-foot buzzer-beater for the win. Fresno State has only had five triple-doubles posted in program history. FRESNO STATE PICKED TO FINISH EIGHTH IN MW Fresno State was projected to finish eighth out of 11 Mountain West schools, as selected by a voting panel comprised of Conference media, during preseason voting. Defending regular season and tournament champion New Mexico was the clear favorite of the Conference media to win the MW men s basketball regular-season title in Student-Athlete (Seasons Played) Games Points 1.
