JAGUARS OWNER SHAD KHAN POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On how good it feels to clinch a playoff berth) It s unbelievable. To win it and win it the way we did today, mind-blowing. Really, really grateful, obviously, and proud of the players, the football leadership and the fans. Especially, the last two games, have given us the energy, put it over the top. It s been awesome. (On how much the reality matches what he s been dreaming of these five years) I think it s a lot better. Reality is, it s a lot better. You know, it s been a challenge, but it s so wonderful now to see a young team come through with the veteran leadership, which gives us sustainability and hope for the future. (On if there was a point in the season when he thought the team could clinch the playoffs) Yes, I mean I have felt very, very optimistic about that and the confidence that it has, the confidence of the football leadership, I think we saw that today. (On what it s like to see EverBank Field full of fans) It s been awesome. It s been awesome. We ve had standing room only tickets today, which certainly hasn t happened in the almost six years I ve been here, so it s wonderful. The energy in this stadium, you can t replace that, and that s why we need the fans. (On how much he anticipates the feeling of consistent success to last) It s anybody s guess. I m very optimistic because we have the players, the right mix that s sustainable. It s not a flash in the pan. (On if he thought success would come this soon after bringing Tom Coughlin back) I m always an optimistic guy, and, certainly, whatever I was hoping for, it s that and more. (On how encouraged he s been by Blake Bortles play recently) I think it s been incredible. I think the stats show that. He s been kind of a different, more confident person, and he s providing the leadership we all want out of him. (On how he will celebrate this achievement) I think maybe not on camera, okay? I think it s been a long time coming and I m so grateful to be here and have the city support us. (On if he s going to jump in the EverBank Field pool) Well, we ve still got two games to go, okay? We might have to have a special party here. (How much a division title and a home game would mean to the organization) I think it would be great. Obviously, that s what we re striving for. (On if he thinks the NFL is on notice with the Jaguars play this season) They were less friendly, okay? But I think it s taken a little bit to get notice, but flying under the radar like the first game was really good for us.

(On if the team being a laughingstock in the past ever got under his skin) Well, I had been through life when I was a laughingstock in whatever business I was in, auto parts or what have you. You have to stay in it and success comes. It s a story of perseverance.

JAGUARS HEAD COACH DOUG MARRONE POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (Opening statement) Obviously it was a good performance. I told the players in the locker room just then that before the game, prior to the game I was probably a little bit nervous because it was probably the quietest our locker room has been before the game. I was thinking to myself this team has always been focused and loose and I m thinking to myself, I hope these guys aren t getting tight now, you know what I m saying? That obviously wasn t the case because if you get tighter you are more focused and you really don t know until you put a team out there on the field. Obviously they were focused and that was a good sign. I thought all three phases played well. I thought that we had a lot of explosive plays. I thought Blake [Bortles] played well. It s always tough when you lose a receiver early like Marqise Lee. I thought the young guys stepped up. I thought Blake put the ball where he needed to and we had some big plays. I thought defensively they did a heck of a job being able to get pressure on the quarterback. Special teams did a nice job. A couple of penalties obviously we have to clean up. We hit a couple of runs we have to clean up. I would have liked to run the ball better earlier in the game, so I think that pretty much sums it up. (On allowing himself to enjoy clinching a playoff spot) I think I would be a fool if I stood up here and said Hey, listen, I recognize that. Obviously it s an accomplishment, but for this team, we had gotten together early, and I ve said this before, I like this team. I thought this team could be special if we put the work in. That s the one thing I kept telling them. To be where we are right now, I think probably the people in that huddle when I was talking with the team are probably the people who truly believed this was where we would be. I told them, and I ll tell you guys, and I ll see how many guys you can take somewhere else. I said, Listen, let s not get taken anywhere else, meaning that we re 2-0 in the quarter. We haven t won this quarter yet. We ve got a long trip. It was good to rest some guys late in the game. We ve got a west coast trip coming up. All those things that everyone is going to talk about, we ve just got to focus in, put the work in and go to work and win our next football game. That s the one thing that this team has done an outstanding job on, being able to focus in during the week, brushing off the stuff from the game before, learning from it, doing a good job of that, not celebrating it too far into the week, whether it s a win or a loss because we have been able to bounce back and focusing in on the next opponent and getting themselves ready to go. I can t control what goes on on the outside, but in here that s how the team is. (On Keelan Cole and Jaydon Micken s performance) You know Mick, sometimes, someone mentioned an article about him and Pink [Larry Pinkard] with (sleeping in) a car or something. I had no idea about it. It s a great story, but that kid, early on when he was here in camp and he s not the biggest, not the fastest, all that stuff, but he was making plays and he had a high level of enthusiasm, had a great work ethic about himself, and at the end of the day, gosh, we ve got to figure out a role, figure out a way to have him on the team. I think that Cole probably worked as hard as I have ever seen a free agent work. That s the truth. First guy in, last guy to leave, studying all the positions, picked up the offense faster than I ve ever seen anyone pick it up, especially, no disrespect to the college, you know what I m saying? They probably did a heck of a job. He really picked up everything, playing all three positions and really working hard. Then it was just a matter going through the year trying to manage. Story number one, this is a great story. He s gotten a game check, so he s getting paid. Someone tells me that he ordered a mattress, but until the mattress gets delivered he s sleeping on the floor. I m like, are you

kidding me right now? I told him when I saw him, you ve got to be kidding me. He was like, No, no, no coach. I m sleeping on a blow up mattress. I m like, Get a damn mattress. One of the things about young players, it s difficult when they come into this league of how to handle your body and get yourself ready, and I think what we re seeing with Cole is a guy that came out really fast, then there was a little bit of getting your legs under you, learn how to practice, learn how to get your body ready to go, then all of a sudden OK, he s got it down. The only reason why I say that is you can tell by the way he s performing and he s doing that in practice. I know that was a long answer, but I just want to give credit where credit is due. (On why Blake Bortles has performed so well that last three games) This is tough because you don t want to back yourself in when you start saying, and people contradict us, but this is the truth. He s only been with Nate [Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett] for X amount of time. We really don t have a lot of time to work with our quarterbacks, and that s league-wide. I think [Quarterbacks Coach] Scott Milanovich and Nate Hackett and also Blake, he s just becoming more confident and I think that subject came up during the week where Coach Hackett said he s starting to own it, but he s really becoming confident in his footwork, his rhythm. There s some plays today that they covered well. They really did. I m talking about the first read and the second read. All of a sudden the ball comes out or he moves a little bit to the left and hits Cole. There are some plays that kind of get overlooked because everyone is like, Oh, he s checking it down, but going from this guy to this guy to this guy. It s a lot of credit to him, it s a lot of credit to the guys up front because if you don t protect, that s tough and the personal foul penalty, he got hit pretty good. It never enters your mind with him because he s so tough. He kind of got up a little bit slow. When he was walking over to the sideline I was like, Hey, are you ok? He was like, well I can t repeat what he said, but yeah, he was OK. (On this last year since he became the coach and the turnaround) Players, assistant coaches, personnel department, everyone is doing an excellent job despite me. (On how complete the first half was) I don t know. We could have ran it better in the first half. (On Tommy Bohanon getting some limelight) It s nice. He does a lot of things that don t get noticed, a lot of the dirty work. He does a lot of good team stuff for us that I think gets overlooked a little bit. Special teams, he s on special teams. Being able to go down in there when everyone is geared up to your tailback and being able to give it to your fullback and have it hit quick and score, obviously it s a good situation or a good scheme to have, to have someone you can trust to do that down there. (On if the fullback position has done everything he thought it would since he brought it back to this offense) I want more from Tommy. I want more from all the players. We want him to do that. We made a strategic decision that we wanted to have a fullback and have a fullback on our team to kind of go with our philosophy. Our first philosophy is that we want to be a physical team. I just always believe that when have a fullback in your offense you have the ability to work on it. It doesn t mean you re going to be physical, but you have the ability to work on it. (On if this team feeds off the crowd) No doubt. No doubt. No doubt. When you play late in the year and you need to win football games and you have a great crowd and that crowd is ready to go, that helps. I ve been saying that for weeks. I think that through this time that all the work that this team has put in, I ve said it before, we re trying to earn the, I don t know what the right word is, of our fans. I guess we want to be able to go out there and be able to perform and have them be proud of our performance. I always think about, and it s hard for us as coaches, but when you don t perform well and

you don t win, it s very difficult to wear your Jaguars gear. It s difficult to wear it, whether you are in an airport or you re on vacation or anything like that, and I know that I m always trying to win games and push teams and push everyone to be better so that we can make the people of Jacksonville and the region proud of this football team. That s always been what I ve tried to do. (On if us against the world is a good description of this team) I ve said before people on the outside might feel that way. I don t use us against the world per se. I talk about putting in the work, gaining the respect and the only way to do it. You know, good football teams win in December. We re just trying to keep pushing the players to be better and not really riding any theme like us against the world, because it s not. We have our fans. We have the other side of our building in the business section of it. We have our media. We have a lot of people that are with us. So maybe it s all of us against the world.

JAGUARS QUARTERBACK BLAKE BORTLES POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On how making the playoffs feels) It feels good. Obviously, I think everybody knows the history of the organization to be able to say that we were a part of the group that kind of changed the culture and changed the narrative about the Jaguars is special. I think it s a never-ending battle. You do it one week or you do it for a couple weeks or for one season. It s something we have to find a way to make consistent on a weekly basis and on a yearly basis. (On if he feels like he s hit rhythm in the stride) Honestly, I just kind of feel like I have been playing the same the whole time. Obviously, the results and numbers are a bit better but I feel just as comfortable and as confident as I did six or seven weeks ago. I think guys are starting to make unbelievable plays. You ve seen Dede [Westbrook] and Jaydon [Mickens] and Keelan [Cole] really come on and the offensive line has been really good. They ve definitely made my job easy and allowed me to give those guys the ball and kind of let them do what they do best. (On if he s become more of a leader since losing veterans to injury) Yeah. It s definitely a different relationship. I mean we have lost our top three receivers going into the season, so you re not really supposed to really be all that productive on offense after that. We have continued to find ways to put up points and make big plays. It is a huge credit to those guys. The relationships changed. With Allen [Robinson], Marquise [Lee] and Allen [Hurns], we all came into together so it s a very close group. It is a different relationship than talking to a Keelan [Cole], talking to a Dede or a Jaydon [Mickens] whose been here for a couple months. All I do is try and give those guys all the confidence in the world. Not that they need it because they can go out there and make those plays every Sunday. (On Keelan Cole and Jaydon Mickens) I think really from the start with Keelan being able to get all the opportunities he did in camp it was kind of the first time that we were like this kid has got a chance to be really special. The first couple of weeks we didn t give him a whole lot of targets, and I forgot I think maybe in the Indy game or one of those games earlier in the season it was kind of let s figure out if Keelan can play. Let s give him some opportunities to make some plays, and ever since then he s kind of been on a tear. When he does stuff like that it only gives [Offensive Coordinator] Nathaniel [Hackett] the confidence to call those plays and me the ability and the want to throw to him, to give him the opportunity to make that play. Mick has been that guy. We knew the explosiveness and his ability to kind of get in and out of cuts in the slot was something special. We kind of knew and had the confidence in him if he had to go in and play a significant amount of snaps that he was going to be good for us. (On Dede Westbrook) Dede from the start he has been good. Obviously, missed a lot of time in the beginning and he s still five-, six-, seven-weeks-old, you know, however many games he s played. What he s been able to do I think has been special. Coming from college, obviously the career he had there but being able to translate that and transfer his game into the NFL. Be dedicated to be able to figure out the system and put in the work. He s done a really good job. (On his team identity) We are winning.

(On if he s glad he doesn t have to face the Jaguars defense in the playoffs) I ve kind of said that since camp. It was a long camp going against them every day. We knew from the very beginning they were going to be special and they ve shown that every single week. Happy that they are on our side and we don t have to play against them. The things they do, I think the statistics kind of speak for themselves but its unbelievably impressive. (On his confidence level now compared to last season) Yeah no, not at all. From last season, it wasn t good. It s good to not be there anymore. (On what it means to help get the veterans get into the playoffs) It s huge. For a guy like [Paul] Posluszny who has never had a winning season the ten plus years that he s been playing, it is incredible. Obviously, Marcedes [Lewis] got there a while ago and hasn t been since and the dedication, commitment that both of those guys have shown to Jacksonville because I think both of them probably could have left at any time and gone somewhere else or had the opportunity to and chose to stay here in Jacksonville and play for this team and organization. To be able to reward those guys with what is now a guaranteed playoff berth is pretty special. (On what has clicked for him since the Arizona game) I honestly feel the same going into the game and as I did going into Arizona. We just weren t able to execute. There was no rhythm or reason for why we didn t play bad. We just missed assignments and made the mental errors. Doug brought it up last night. Offensively, when we cut down our mental errors we are tough to stop, when guys know what they re doing, kind of executing on point. It is another challenge, it s another West Coast trip. There s a lot of other things going on being Christmas and the holidays and all that. There is not a doubt that our locker room will be locked in and ready to go and not making the same mistake we made last time. (On if he pays attention to other games going on) I mean you are talking about the Pittsburgh and Tennessee and those games. No, I couldn t tell you what is going on in either of those games. I ll go home and turn them on and watch them but you sit there and you hope something happens for a better position for your team. I think our destiny is in front of us and in our hands. That s what we have to worry about is what we re doing and how we re going to get there. (On how much pride he takes in bringing success to Jacksonville) I think it is awesome. Obviously growing up you heard about [Mark] Brunell and Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith and [Tony] Boselli and Keenan {McCardell] and all those guys and there was kind of like a long absence of anything. I was a part of that for the past three years of kind of not really playing good ball and to be able to turn that around, I think what Doug s done has been awesome. Like you said, to be a part of the team that is changing the culture, it is tough to put into words. It s special. Unbelievably proud to be a part of this group and play for this organization. (On the pick at the end of the second quarter) Yeah we were kind of hanging out. I think anytime an offense is going to try and make a play in a situation like that that right before half, I think we have to stay ready because our defense can make a play at any minute. They can take one to the house. They can pick one. They can cause a fumble. We were kind of just hanging out ready to go if something happens. Barry [Church] made an unbelievable play. (On the crowd) It all comes with winning. I think that is the main thing, that is the main key, the main ingredient. People want to come watch a team win. They want to be a part of a winning organization. Now that we are able to do that and give them that and put a good product out on the field that they

can come watch, I think it only makes it more of an exciting thing for them. To be able to do it in front of them and have them be as loud and cheer like they did in the playoff change at the end. It s all pretty cool and surreal.

JAGUARS DL CALAIS CAMPBELL POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On making the playoffs) It s huge. Anytime you get a chance to punch a ticket to the playoffs, that s awesome, but I want to encourage the guys to stay focused because we have a lot of work to do. Just stay in the moment and enjoy the ride. (On how long the team should enjoy this victory) With this, it s 24 hours. Enjoy it for 24 hours and then on to San Francisco. It s as simple as that. (On if he feels the Jaguars have a lot of work to do) Yes, a lot of work. It s not going to make life anymore easier, but at the end of the day, we want to have a standard every time we touch the field. It s a certain standard we expect when we eliminate our mistakes and stay focused, we re a tough team to beat. (On if he ever envisioned this season going this well) Yeah, the tide was turning in our direction and I m glad I m a part of it so I tried to throw my hat in the fire and try to do my part.

JAGUARS LB PAUL POSLUSZNY POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On how long he has thought about the playoffs) Seems like all year, my entire career, honestly. You felt like at the beginning of the year, we had a special group and we really never said it was our specific goal, but you knew if we followed (Head) Coach (Doug) Marrone s formula, we would have a chance. Just the fact to know we are in the playoffs is an awesome feeling. (On guys stepping in and still performing) No doubt about it. You look at the composition of the team, how close we are as a group, how guys have been able to step in and make enormous plays and have an enormous impact on the outcome of games, it s been fun. It s fun to be around these guys and this team. (On if anyone has to sell this team on the fact that they have two more weeks left) No. Coach Marrone s message after the game was the reason we are at this point is because we have been able to take it one game at a time. Obviously, we are going to enjoy this victory. When we get back to work on Wednesday, the entire focus is on the San Francisco 49ers and playing that game and that game alone. We will be locked in and ready to play. (On the subdued postgame celebration being that they have more to do) No doubt about that. We knew we needed to win this game against a division opponent with an opportunity to secure a playoff spot. But like you said, just because we are in, we want more. We want more. This team knows that. There is more to accomplish, this is just the start.

JAGUARS SS BARRY CHURCH POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On how good it feels to go to the playoffs) It feels unbelievable. Being my first year here and seeing all the criticism this organization has went through these past 10 years and to be able to turn it around like that, it s an unbelievable accomplishment. That s why I came here. I saw the potential that we had. A lot of people thought I was crazy when I said we have a playoff-caliber team, but the proof is in the pudding. Now, we ve just got to go out there and clinch this division and hopefully get a couple playoff games here at the Bank. (On how the play opened up on his interception) It was a great disguise to begin with. We called a little blitz look for our safeties. I looked like I was playing blitz and then A.J. (Bouye) did an unbelievable job of jamming up (DeAndre) Hopkins at the line of scrimmage. We knew they were going to force feed him, so if you were on that side, you had an opportunity to make a play and I was able to capitalize on it. (On how beneficial the defensive rush was) It makes our job so much easier. When a quarterback is scared to hold the ball for more than two seconds and you get a read on his eyes, you know he s not going to look you off because he s going to get hit if he does. As a safety, it makes our job a heck of a lot easier just having rushes like that. (On how pleased he was on how the team handled this week) It was unbelievable. Like I said, we were focused on one game at a time this whole season, being able to go out there and focus on the Texans at home, we knew we had an opportunity to clinch and all that good stuff, but being able to go out there and pretty much dominate that team and ride the momentum that we ve been riding was a pretty good feeling.

JAGUARS WR KEELAN COLE POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On what it has been like to be highly valued in this offense) Nothing. I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. They picked me up for a reason and they have faith in me. They call my number and I just had to make the plays. (On why he s doing well) Everybody. Everybody from the defense to the last coach. I am learning from everybody. Everybody gives me input and I try to take it in and use it in my game. (On how Blake Bortles has been playing) He is a great quarterback in my eyes. He does everything he needs to and more. He is trying to progress every day and it s good. I am trying to progress with him so that is just what is happening. (On what it says about this team going from three wins in 2016 to the playoffs this year) I don t know last year, but this a totally new team. That s the way it is every year. Every week is different for us. This game is over with. Like I said last year, we are going to enjoy this game and then go get ready for next week.

JAGUARS CB JALEN RAMSEY POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On his thoughts on the victory) It was a hell of a game, a big team win and we knew we had to come here and win the game to go to the playoffs. We came here with our mindset and jumped out early on them and kept our foot on their necks and kept it rolling. It was a good game and all played good honestly. (On if he feels the offense is now clicking) Yes, that s exactly what s happening. Dude (Blake Bortles) is balling and guys are taking the opportunity and ceasing it. Everybody is just in their groove, like I said last week. It s just working for us right now. We got that swag right now. (On his thoughts on the crowd) It s been a while for them. They were excited, probably just as excited as we are, that we re going to the playoffs. So, yes, it s special for them but this year internally as a team we wanted to go out and prove who we could be and really do it for each other, but it s nice to do it for them as well.

JAGUARS WR JAYDON MICKENS POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On how he celebrated the final seconds of the game) I just embraced it, you know. Everybody was screaming, everybody was loud, yelling, laughing and playing. Not just the players, I m talking about the fans. Looking at their faces and seeing how happy and filled with joy they were that we were going to playoffs. It was awesome to see. (On how satisfying it is to come through on the biggest stage) Yeah, of course, that s satisfying. that s why I practice. I don t just do punt returns at practice, I have to do everything. It was something that I knew I could do. it was something that a lot of people knew I could do, but it just came out today. Unfortunately, Marqise (Lee) had to go down, but we re going to get him back healthy and ready to go for this run. (On if his confidence has ever been this high) Yeah, that s pretty much been me. Everybody who knows me from Washington, Dorsey, the Raiders, they know. (On if it s crazy to go from sleeping in his car to the playoffs) No, because coming out of the draft I had no money. My mom was helping me pay my car note and stressing about that and stressing about a lot of stuff with the family. I thought I was going to get drafted. I was thinking hey, man, I m about to come into some money, do right with it. This is something that came about and came along and hard work is prevailing.

JAGUARS DE YANNICK NGAKOUE POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On if he can feel what it has meant to the fans from the field) Yeah, definitely. It meant a lot for the fans. It was great to represent Duval out there as a team. We are blessed as a team to put ourselves in this position because we got here as a team with the hard work we put in back in July since we reported. I am just proud of my team right now and I am blessed to be a part of this organization. (On Houston using seven linemen to slow down their pass rush) They were still doing that when they were down 20 so it s definitely a sign of respect. They were chipping me and Dante (Fowler) the whole game but you know we got two beasts in there with Malik Jackson and Calais Campbell. Those boys showed up. (On what it means to get more than 50 sacks as a team) I didn t even realize that, it s just a blessing. The only thing I was thinking about was that win and clinching the playoffs. (On staying focused with more to play for on the line) One day at a time. Live in the moment. Take it one day at a time. Like I tell everyone else, you can t look too far into the future, got to take it one day at a time. (We are) going to come back to the lab tomorrow, clean some things up and get ready for San Fran.

JAGUARS DEFENSIVE TACKLE MALIK JACKSON POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On what it s like being here a year later after winning three games) It s awesome. It s what I m accustomed to. I m a winner in the NFL and to go through last year really opened my eyes to tell myself I have to keep working and continue to turn this around. After last season, I looked at myself to see what I could do better and I came back having one of the best seasons of my career. It s about being accountable and being able to have great coaching; we have great coaching, we have great players around us and we re all just doing what we re supposed to do. (On the defense setting the tone early) Yeah, that s what we re brought out here to do. We want to stop offenses. Our offense went out there and scored seven points, that s all we needed and that s how we feel. Nobody can drive on us. Nobody can get in the red zone on us and score. We feel that way and that s what the stats say. That is what we ll go out there and continue to have. (On recording his career-best eighth sack) It s a blessing. We work so hard. I have to give my hat off to the scout team who don t get any love. But to have guys like Chris Reed and Josh Walker during the week giving me great looks, it s a blessing. It allows me to go out here and get eight sacks like I did this season. It s all about those unspoken heroes. (On if this week or next week will provide any distractions) No. We have been planning for this season. We knew coming into the season, we have at least 16 chances to play again and this is our 15th chance coming up next week so we re going to take that serious. We have a plan where we want to go and we have a destination. Right now we ve gotten into the playoffs but getting into the playoffs isn t our goal. We want to be one of those top two teams to get into the playoffs which will give us the best chance to make a run.

JAGUARS LB TELVIN SMITH POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On the subdued postgame celebration) Because technically we understand what we did, but there s no reason to go crazy because we still have a lot in front of us. Right now, it s San Francisco. So it s great that we made the playoffs, I m telling you we re excited, and it s our goal this week, but at the same time, we know that means nothing until we get there. (On what it means to him to go to the playoffs) It means more when I think of guys like Paul Posluszny, somebody that never experienced that, so that s who I go hard for. I tell them that every time I step out on the field, so that s what the playoffs mean to me. We can get to the Super Bowl, but it was more so happy to know that we accomplished something that a lot of people never have in this organization. (On his thoughts on bringing the franchise back to notoriety) That s what we say, what s understood doesn t have to be explained. You don t hear me boasting about who I am and what I do or any of that to the team. I just show up and that s why I think guys love and respect me, and that s why I love these guys because we all just show up and don t make it about one man. Team-wise, we try not to make it about one man and go out on that field and play for each other, so it s great that we re here and it s great that we definitely have accomplished something, but we re not worried about too much other stuff with all the accolades and stuff like that.

JAGUARS TE MARCEDES LEWIS POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (On his thoughts on going to the playoffs) It s huge. I ve only been to the playoffs twice, but the magnitude will be different with everybody in this room. This is exactly where we wanted to be ever since we stepped foot in here in training camp over the summer and the work that we put in to get to this point right now is huge, and this is what we expected so leading up to this game, it s about going out there and trying to play our best game. Today, other guys got to play and they did a good job of that. (On if he ever doubted that he d get back to the postseason again) I think it s inevitable to not worry about it. When you re in a situation like mine, there s so much stuff going on from coaches to owners, other tight ends coming in here. It s tough but I ve always owned it. Can t nobody slow it down or speed it up and I m always going to be positive and this is what it gets you. (On his thoughts on the crowd) It was lit in here and it s been wild and amping up the last few weeks, so like I said last week, it s a partnership and they want us to win so we re to continue to bust out butts and try and put the best product out there on every Sunday and it ll be great to continue. (On if he ever lost faith in Blake Bortles) Like I said, he s doing it in practice, his reads are sharp and he knows pre-snap what he wants to do. You can see him out there just playing ball and if there s a rush coming, he s just sliding over a little bit, getting into position and making the throws and not panicking and he s doing his thing and I m so proud of him.

TEXANS QUARTERBACK T.J. YATES POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On the offensive performance) Pretty embarrassing. Nothing worked, nothing going on. It s kind of hard to say, I mean I didn t give us a chance. (On him not giving the team a chance) I have to be better at everything. Accuracy, decision-making. Just working the offense, it starts with me. Everybody knows that but we just have to do a better job. (On the Jaguars defense) Obviously, they are an incredible defense. They did a great job covering, great job rushing the passer, creating some confusion up front. We knew what we were going up against coming into the game and we didn t execute the things we thought would work against them. There were plays out there to be made, we just didn t make them. (On his thoughts on Bill O Brien saying he needs to coach better) It s not on him. Absolutely not. The plays are out there to be made. There s guys open, there s holes. Obviously, there s some plays where the defense did a good job and we got beat or made a poor decision. There s definitely plays out there to be made and it kind of just started snowballing after that. (On if the players had the right intensity) Yeah, absolutely. We were all ready to play. We were excited, we were pumped up. We knew we were going to go out there and have fun. It was a good energy before the game. (On Deandre Hopkins) It s a dog fight with that guy. He knows he s going to get the best corner every single game and then sometimes some extra guys on top of that. Hop was dealing with his toe all week long and fought through it and came out and played. Fought the whole game. Every single time he lines up with one of those corners like that, it s a fistfight every single play. He keeps fighting and I was lucky to get a couple to him. We just have to get more. (On if this is a reminder on how the league changes year-to-year) Absolutely. Every week is different. Every week is different. Obviously, this is a different Jaguars team than the past couple years and they ve done an amazing job of getting a roster together to have players all over the place, and they are playing at an extremely high level. (On one thing he would have liked to have done better on offense) I can only pick one? We just have to start faster. In a game like that when we knew we had to start fast and get out in front of them, we didn t do that. We obviously didn t get any points until later in the game. We have to score early and often to get ourselves going.

(On the feeling walking off the field and seeing the scoreboard) Obviously, it is tough. To put up a performance like that not only as a team but as a player is embarrassing. It s tough to do especially when you work so hard during the week.

TEXANS RB LAMAR MILLER POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On the game) It was tough and they came out and played a good football game. We just have to come back and correct our mistakes. (On Jacksonville s domination) They just came out and played a great football game in all three phases. They made plays and we need to give credit to them. (On the offensive performance) We needed to start faster and we came out slow. They have a really good defense and they are tough playing at home. (On the most lopsided loss of the season) It s very disappointing and to only score once on offense is disappointing. We just need to find a way to finish the season strong.

TEXANS HEAD COACH BILL O BRIEN POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On if the Jaguars are that good, or if the Texans are that bad following the loss) I don t know. We just couldn t get anything going. I think our guys fought hard. We just couldn t get a lot going offensively, and give them credit. They ve got a good football team, and give them credit. (On what he saw in Blake Bortles in terms of improvement) He played a good game, he s had a good year. Give him a lot of credit. You know, he s had a good year for them, and they ve got him playing real well. (On if he is embarrassed to lose a game that decisively) No question. Anytime you lose a game like that, you know, as a head football coach, you don t feel real good about it. (On the team s 14 penalties, and there was penalties on special teams, continued to haunt them) I don t know. If I knew, I would get it fixed.) (On T.J. Yates s start and performance) I thought he battled. He was under constant pressure, but he hung in there, and tried to play as good as he could. (On how much team s offensive line has been a recurring issue for the Texans this year) I think it s a team effort. It s a coaching effort, it s just everything. It s not just one position. We just have to do a better job. (On the team s defensive play) I think we were struggling on offense, and they were running the ball, and did a good job in the passing game. On a couple of drives, I don t even know if they had a third down. They were just moving the ball, and we were going three-and-out, and we played the exact opposite of complementary football. We played terrible, and we didn t coach very well. That s just not good enough. (On if he could attribute the defensive issues to pressure, or coverage breakdowns) You know, I don t know. Like I said, in all three phases, we just didn t do a good enough job. (On if he was seeing a coverage breakdown from the sidelines defensively, even though the Jacksonville offense had some injuries) You know, I don t know. They did a better job than us today. They coached better. I thought we had our guys ready to play. Our guys fought, they played hard, but it wasn t obviously good enough. (On what the difference was in recent games where they were competitive, as opposed to today s game) I don t know. Like I said, I think since we got off to such a slow start offensively, you know I have to really think about that. It was just a slow start offensively, and we just couldn t convert on third down, and that just snowballed for the whole team. It just wasn t good

(On how he has seen the Jaguars evolve this season and take that next step) Yeah, I mean they ve done a good job. They ve got a good team, good coaching staff, you now, they made changes. They ve got a tough, physical football team. They re fairly healthy, although you mentioned some of their injuries. But for the most part they ve been healthy. They ve been coached very well. They re a very tough team, and they deserve to be where they re at. (On the matchup with Calais Campbell) Yeah, you know, we ve tried to double him, and we ve slid to him. Obviously, sometimes, you ve got to single them just based on how they line up. It s a numbers game. If they overload you on one side, sometimes you end up singled on him. But, you know, he s a great player, and he s definitely hurt us this year (On how concerned he is with the offensive line, with Nick Martin exiting the game due to injury, and Jeff Allen having a concussion) Yeah, that didn t look like a good injury for Nick (Martin). So we feel terrible about that. Like I said, I heard that Jeff (Allen) has a concussion, you know better than me. I feel bad about that (On specifically Nick Martin s injury) I think that s a pretty serious injury. (On how he responds to the people that say the team quit today) Yeah, I don t think anybody quit. I was watching that. I don t see that. I think they just got us. They had some punt returns, short fields, they were able to score. The turnover at the end of the half we were trying to make a play, and couldn t make the play they scored on a short field. So I think our guys I know our guys played hard. I don t like to question that. (On if he considered taking a knee at the end of the half instead of trying to move the ball) No, I don t think so. I think you ve got to try and move it, with the time. I think there were 56 seconds, and we had all three timeouts, and I just felt like we had to try and make a move. The issue is that you really can t run it. I mean you can, but you re not going to gain many yards. So you have to throw it, and that s what we tried to do, and it didn t work out. (On how hard it is for him and his staff to be at this point in the season) I mean, it s tough. I don t think any of us have ever been in this position. We know how to win, we ve won before in places we ve been. But you go through coaching, if you ve been in coaching long enough, you re going to experience years like this. Hopefully you ll learn from it, and be better for it next time. But yeah, it s been tough. I think these players are playing hard, and we just haven t been able to get over the hump. (On if there was any one thing that the team didn t do today that really stands out) Yeah, you know look, I don t think we could really convert on third down on offense, that was a big thing. We couldn t stay on the field, so we kept putting our defense back out there, and that s tough against Jacksonville, and they re going to wear you down after a while. You know, we had trouble converting on third down. (On if he thinks the Jaguars are capable of going to the Super Bowl) Yeah, I think they re one of the better teams in football. I think they re soundly coached. I think they ve got a lot of talent. I think they can run the ball, which you re going to have to do. I m not sure what their road will be, relative to home games, but I would assume that they re going to have to go north to play at least one or two playoff games. They ve got the type of team to do that. You know, they re good on defense, and they can run the football, and Blake (Bortles) s playing well. So, they ve got a good team.

(On if the officials said anything to him about why Shane Lechler was given an unsportsmanlike conduct call) No. (On if he ever asked Shane Lechler about what he said) I was standing there, I mean, you ll have to ask Carl (Cheffers). You know, I don t know. It certainly wasn t the reason why we lost the game. (On how the special teams penalties and multiple injuries hurt the team) No, no, I ve never said that, and I ll stay here as long as you guys want. You know, I ve said that we ve experienced injuries. We have lost a lot of top players. I mean that s a fact. But, no one s sitting here saying that we ve coached well. Like no one s saying that. You know, we know we have to coach better, and we have to figure it out, and there s been times while we have been in Houston where we have coached well. You know, we ve won the division twice, obviously not this year, and for whatever reason, we just haven t done a good enough job putting these players in the position to make plays, and we ve had too many penalties, like today was terrible. So, that s coaching. We shout it to them, we teach it to them, but we ve got to figure out another way. You know, a coach said a long time ago he was an assistant coach talking to a head coach: You know, I ve told them a thousand times, and the head coach said to him, you ve got to tell them a thousand and one. You ve got to find a different way. And that s what we have to try to do. But we have to try to eliminate those things.

TEXANS CB JOHNATHAN JOSEPH POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On loss to Jaguars) Any time after a loss, it s a bad taste in your mouth. Everybody deals with it differently, but there s definitely no good out of it. We came here today and took it on the chin. They outplayed us and that s it. (On success of Jaguars passing game) They ve thrown it around throughout the year. It was a lot of catch and run plays pretty much. I can t take anything from him (Blake Bortles). He came out and performed today. He did his job with Fournette being out. He stepped up for them and made some throws. He stood in the pocket, scrambled around, and has been playing well for them all year. (On overall defensive struggles this season) There are a number of things. It s hard throughout the season to go back and pinpoint stuff. Right now, it s about the next guy. Whoever is in no matter what the situation is, the guy has got to perform. As a defense, we have a lot of older veteran guys that can keep things together, but sometimes it s just how it is. (On turnaround this season for Jaguars) I think Jacksonville has been at top of draft the last four, five or six years, and they have a lot of talent. Now that talent is playing really well for them. They developed that talent. They added some key pieces in free agency and they re playing good ball.

TEXANS CB KAREEM JACKSON POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On the game) They made plays and we didn t. As far as their receivers, they made some plays and we didn t. (On falling behind 31-0 at halftime) It was tough to get out of a hole in this league. Regardless of what we would have done in the second half, it was hard to come back from a deficit like we had. It s tough the way we dug a hole. (On the lopsided win) It s frustrating the way the game went and no one wants to lose like the way we did today. We are all competitors and men and we want to win. We work hard and to play the way we played today it s frustrating. They came to play and made a ton of plays and we didn t make any plays. You have to take your hat off to them. (On the play of Bortles) He s an NFL quarterback and that s his job. When guys are open he is supposed to hit them and he was able to do that today.

TEXANS RB ALFRED BLUE POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On the loss to the Jaguars) The group overall has to do a better job of executing their assignments. Jacksonville just executed and played better than we did. We have to watch the film and get better. (On walking off the field and seeing the scoreboard) That s a feeling you never want to have walking off down that many. (On Jacksonville s defense) There are taking the ball away from offenses a lot more. That s helping them out. The defense is getting turnovers and giving their offense a lot more chances to put points up. (On comments from a fellow player on loss being embarrassing) I would agree. We go to practice every day and we re professionals. It s just a bad feeling.

TEXANS OLB/DE JADEVEON CLOWNEY POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On getting tired of losing) I still am and we got beat again. They beat us, bad. (On Bill O Brien s worst career loss) I don t know, we got beat a couple of times. Two years ago, Atlanta blew us out. They blew us out at the beginning of the season and they blew us out now. (On what wrong defensively) It was on both sides of the ball, not just defense. They beat us and they got us today. (On the loss) It s embarrassing and you never want to get beat like that. It s embarrassing for the whole organization.

TEXANS DE JOEL HEATH POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (On the size of the loss to the Jaguars) The reality sets in once you lose the game. It hurts all around. (On play of Jaguars QB Blake Bortles) If you win a bunch of games, you re confident. When you come out with confidence, you play well. That s football. (On if it was difficult on the defensive front today) No, not particularly. It was just a matter of maintaining your gaps and getting off at the right time, but not particularly tough. (On the success of Jacksonville s receivers) We re all NFL players. We play at a high level and that s the reality. Whoever steps up is obviously the first team. You come out and play hard.
