ASU is 7-16 on the road, 23-5 at home, and 1-0 at neutral sites versus ULM. The Red Wolves have a current six-game winning streak, which includes a home triumph earlier this season (1/19). A season ago, ASU claimed a pair of victories at ULM (12/31) and at home (2/2). ASU is averaging 69.3 points a game (416 pts.) while ULM is scoring 57.5 points per contest average (345 pts.) in those six outings. ASU is 10-1 in its last 11 meetings against ULM 6-0 at home and 4-1 on the road. ULM s most recent win occurred in the season (2/13/86) with a home decision. A-State has won three of its last four at ULM after dropping the previous three. ASU is averaging 75.5 ppg. (302 pts.) in the last four matchups while Warhawks have averaged 68.8 ppg. (275 pts.). Seven of last 11 games have been decided by eight points or less, including four by three points or less. In this season s first tilt (1/19) at ASU, Trey Finn s 17 points led three Red Wolves in double-figure scoring. Ed Townsel added 13 points while Brandon Peterson scored 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Ed Townsel (12.4 ppg.), Brandon Peterson (9.5 ppg.), and Trey Finn (9.4 ppg.) are ASU s top active career scorers vs. ULM while Peterson (6.7 rpg.) and Raeford Worsham (5.0 rpg.) are the top rebounders. SCOUTING ULM The Warhawks snapped a nine-game losing streak with an conference home win over North Texas Thursday (2/14) in Monroe, La. Four of ULM s five starters reached double-figure scoring as junior guard Amos Olatayo (22 pts.) and junior forward Millaun Brown (21 pts.) lead the way. Brown also added eight rebounds while Olatayo hauled down seven boards. Amos Olatayo (15.8 ppg.), sophomore guard Trent Mackey (11.1 ppg.), and junior forward Jayon James (10.0 ppg) currently lead ULM in scoring while Jayon James 6.3 rpg. average is tops among the squad s rebound leaders. James also leads the Warhawks in assists with a 5.1 apg. average. Nationally, ULM ranks 100th in three-point field goal pct. (35.4%) thru games of Feb. 14 while the Warhawks are 116th in steals (7.4 spg.), 125th in assists (13.6 spg.), 170th in three-point field goals (6.1 avg.), 173rd in field goal pct. (43.2%), 284th in scoring defense (71.3 ppg.), and 304th in scoring offense (61.1 ppg.). Trent Mackey is 13th in three-point field goal pct. ULM compiled a 3-26 record overall for the season, which included a sixth-place 2-14 SBC West Division mark. The Warhawks were 3-13 on the road, 0-13 at home, and 0-0 at neutral sites last season. Head coach Keith Richard returned to his alma mater to become ULM s seventh head coach in April 2010 and is presently the Sun Belt Conference s 10th winningest coach in conference games. ASU head coach John Brady has registered a record (.512) in Sun Belt Conference contests since his arrival in the season, which consists of a home ledger and a away mark. Brady has certainly become accustomed to success throughout his distinguished coaching career as evidenced by a Final Four appearance and 295 career victories to his credit. A new era in ASU men s basketball history began on March 19, 2008 when Brady was announced as the Red Wolves 15th head coach in the program s history. Brady wasted little time making a positive impact on the A-State program as in his initial three years at the helm, he turned the Red Wolves into a success story on the court by capturing a share of the Sun Belt Conference s Western Division Championship title in along with compiling double-digit SBC wins back-to-back for the first time in nearly 20 years and going undefeated at home with a 13-0 record. During his first season with the Red Wolves, Brady helped lead ASU to one of the best starts in program history and achieved the No. 22 ranking on Collegeinsider.com s Mid-Major Top 25 poll. As a team, A-State greatly improved upon its defending and rebounding numbers, finishing near the top of the conference in several statistical categories. Brady would take the Red Wolves a step further in his second season ( ), improving their record to while making a Sun Belt Conference Tournament Semifinal appearance and finishing second in the SBC s West Division. For his efforts, Brady was named Sun Belt Coach of the Year and the District VII Coach of the Year by the USBWA. ASU also claim top league honors in three-point field-goal defense, rebounding offense, and defensive rebounding in For the season, A-State registered an 11-7 SBC record which signified its best conference mark since the campaign when ASU achieved an identical league mark. A-State s 11 wins represented the seventh time in which the Red Wolves compiled a double-digit league victories total since joining the Sun Belt. ASU would then duplicate its SBC wins in the season by finishing with an 11-5 conference ledger. Prior to Arkansas State, Brady spent 10-plus seasons serving as LSU s head coach. During his tenure at the school, Brady guided the Tigers to six postseason berths, two Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship crowns and three SEC Western Division titles. With his success, Brady was tabbed as the SEC Coach of the Year twice ( and ). Brady s 16-year tenure as a head coach at both LSU and Samford in Birmingham, Alabama, has been decorated with achievements.
