Lions assistant defensive line coach/pass rush specialist Jim Washburn served as the Eagles defensive line coach from Eagles assistant defensive backs coach Todd Lyght played cornerback for the Lions from WHAT TO WATCH FOR THANKSGIVING DAY DEFENSE In Detroit s win on Thanksgiving vs. Green Bay, the Lions defense registered seven team sacks, including one that resulted in a safety (DT Ndamukong Suh) and one in a sack-fumble (DE Devin Taylor; recovered by DT C.J. Mosley). The last time the Lions had seven sacks in a game occurred at Denver October 30, 2011, and the defensive line recognized their importance in the Lions fourth division win. Mosley on the defensive line s seven sacks: We just keep doing what we ve been doing the whole season. We just have to come and not get frustrated. You just have to continue to do your job and do the best you can and when they come, they come. The Lions held the Packers to 24 rushing yards and zero rushing touchdowns after Green Bay entered the game ranked fi fth in the League, averaging rushing yards per game. Detroit became the fi rst team since 1933 to hold opponents to 62 yards or less and zero rushing touchdowns in six-straight games. The Lions have not allowed a rushing touchdown for the eighth-straight game (34-straight quarters), which marks the fi rst time since Detroit s inaugural season in 1934 that the Lions have gone eight-straight games at any point without yielding a rushing touchdown. Suh on the defense s dominating performance: We just understood the task that we had at hand. First is obviously stopping the run and stopping Eddie Lacy, he s been playing great for them. (It was) very important to get that done and then obviously we did that for the most part. (We got) after their quarterback. He liked to hold the ball and we saw that and I believe we took advantage of it. Five different Lions players collected sacks vs. Green Bay, with rookie defensive ends Ezekiel Ansah and Taylor each recording two. Detroit s seven sacks resulted in a cumulative loss of 37 yards, which was 13 yards more than Green Bay s entire rushing total of 24. Suh on the sacks being tied to stopping the run: I think it s just understanding that when people feel like they can t run against us, all they can do is pass. We just know how to transition. The great thing about our defense and the things that I love about being drafted here is that it was an attack-style defense and we re always playing the pass. No matter what, even though we re stopping the run, we re still attacking the pass at the same time. The Lions defense allowed just 126 total yards of offense by the Packers, with 56 occurring on Green Bay s last drive of the fourth quarter that resulted in a lost fumble on the next play. The 126 total offensive yards allowed by the Lions is the lowest yielded by the team since allowing just 95 yards at Cincinnati November 22, Mosley on if this is as good as the defensive line can be: I think so. We can just use it as something to build on. It is on fi lm and it s something that we know we can do.

Levy became the third Lions linebacker in team history to record six interceptions in a season and fi rst since Hall of Fame LB Joe Schmidt in He joined Hall of Fame C-LB Alex Wojciechowicz (1944) and Schmidt as the only linebackers to record six picks in a season. Levy on leading the NFL in interceptions: I haven t really thought about it yet. It s a critical stretch for us, hopefully it won t be in vain, and we can fi nish this thing out the right way and get to the playoffs. OPENING UP THE OFFENSE The win over the Packers marked the fi rst Thanksgiving Day win for Lions QB Matthew Stafford and the team s fi rst since Despite his two interceptions and lost fumble early in the game, Stafford completed 22-of-35 passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns. With 330 passing yards, Stafford now has 3,825 yards on the season and became the fi rst passer in team history with three-career 3,500+ passing seasons. Stafford on the win over Green Bay: It s great. It s a step in the right direction for us. We have to continue on this path. I m sure the turkey will taste better and all that. I m just proud of our team and the way we played for four quarters and didn t let anything derail us. We have to keep doing that. The Lions converted 9-of-12 third-down conversions and marched inside the Packers 20-yard line six times. Detroit racked up 561 yards of total offense in the game, including 330 passing and 241 rushing. Detroit s 241 yards on the ground is team s highest rushing output since the Lions gained 249 yards vs. Indianapolis November 23, RB Reggie Bush was Stafford s biggest partner in crime as he carried the ball 20 times for 117 yards and a touchdown, while also catching fi ve passes for 65 yards. RB Joique Bell also fi nished the game with 128 total yards (94 rushing, 34 receiving) and a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Lions two-headed running back attack 310 total yards in the game. Bush on what was working in the running game against Green Bay: I think the fact that they were worried about our passing game a lot. It kind of showed that they were more focused on stopping the passing game. Calvin (Johnson) got double-teamed, there were a few times he got double-teams. We just have to take advantage of it. We have to take advantage of it when they put six guys in the box. We have to be able to run the ball. That s something we ve been trying to do all year. Receivers Calvin Johnson, Jeremy Ross and Kevin Ogletree all caught touchdown passes in the Lions win as Johnson led the way with six catches for 101 yards and scored on a 20-yard touchdown grab from Stafford. With 101 receiving yards vs. Green Bay, Johnson broke the NFL record for most receiving yards over three seasons with his current total of 4,944 receiving yards since the beginning of the 2011 season.

4 Stafford on the touchdown pass to Johnson: Our offensive line did a great job of keeping it clean in front of me. Just moved left a little bit and threw it to him and he does what he does and runs through everybody like they re just nothing. Not only was the Lions Thanksgiving Day win meaningful to Detroit fans, it was also a memorable day for C Dominic Raiola as the 13-year veteran played in his 200th career game and became the third player in team history to play in 200 career games. He tied LB Wayne Walker for the second most career games played in Lions history. Raiola on playing in his 200th career game: It s kind of a personal thing. It s special. It s a cool number, a nice round number. The biggest thing, if you want to talk personal, is that 200 starts would be a lot more. FOUR GAMES LEFT With their 30-point win against the Packers on Thanksgiving Day, the Lions continue to sit atop the NFC North with a 7-5 a record heading into their Week 14 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Detroit knows that their best football must be ahead of them in order to clinch their fi rst division title since Bush on how important the win on Thanksgiving was: It was big. It was huge for us. We answered the call. Obviously our backs were against the wall with the division and the race for fi rst place and everything that was right there in front of us. We answered the call. That s the biggest thing I was impressed with was the way we handled it. We handled the pressure well. We handled the situations well and we fought through adversity. We fi nished the game strong and came out with a win and we re in fi rst place right now. We have another big game next week. Having earned a playoff appearance just two years ago in 2011 and with a team full of veteran leaders, the Lions are confi dent that this team has what it takes mentally and physically to reach their goals of making a postseason run in Head Coach Jim Schwartz on the team gaining maturity: I do think there is a good point. A couple years ago, we were easily sidetracked. I think there were some teams that sort of baited us in to some fouls and things like that and we didn t always respond in the best way. I think we have grown as a team. However, Schwartz and company know that the road to January starts with Philadelphia this weekend. The Eagles have won four straight games since turning to rookie QB Nick Foles after an injury sidelined former starting quarterback Michael Vick. Despite a commanding 4-1 record in the NFC North with only a Week 17 matchup against Minnesota still left to play in the division, Raiola fi rmly believes that every game from here on out, regardless of the opponent, carries equal importance. Raiola on if the Lions have taken control of the NFC North: I think we are going to play with that same urgency that we played with today. That s the best way to do it and it is the only way to do it when you re in this position. We are not going to take that foot off the gas. There is no relaxing, we have a big game with Philly coming up NOTABLE PLAYER MILESTONES QB MATTHEW STAFFORD By throwing for 362 yards in Week 11 at Pittsburgh (11/17), Stafford set a new franchise record for career passing yards with 16,005, breaking the previous record of 15,710 set by Hall of Fame QB Bobby Layne, which has stood for 55 seasons (1958). Stafford became the fi rst player in team history to reach 16,000 career passing yards. His current total stands at 16,632 yards. WR CALVIN JOHNSON Needs one 200-yard receiving game to surpass Lance Alworth (5) for the most all-time. In six seasons, Johnson has fi ve career 200-yard receiving games. Needs 1,500 receiving yards this season to join Andre Johnson (3), Marvin Harrison (3) and Jerry Rice (4) as the only players with at least three such seasons in NFL history. In six seasons, Johnson has two 1,500-yard receiving seasons. His current total stands at 1,299 so far this season. With 9,135 career receiving yards, Johnson needs 40 to pass WR Herman Moore (9,174) for most receiving yards in Lions history. C DOMINIC RAIOLA Now in his 13th season with the Lions, Raiola played in his 200th career game in Week13 vs. Green Bay (11/28) and tied LB Wayne Walker for the second most career games played in Lions history. DT NDAMUKONG SUH With 27.5 career sacks, Suh now has the second-most sacks by a Lions defensive tackle sice sacks became official in He trails DT Shaun Rogers (29.0) for the most in Lions history by a defensive tackle. LIONS TEAM CAPTAINS The 2013 Lions team captains are WR Calvin Johnson and QB Matthew Stafford on offense, DT Ndamukong Suh and LB Stephen Tulloch on defense and K David Akers and S John Wendling on special teams. Captains are determined based on player vote. All six captains will wear a team patch that includes a block C on the right shoulder of their game jerseys. This is Stafford s fourth-straight year ( ) serving as team captain. Johnson is serving as a captain for the secondconsecutive season marks the third time in Tulloch s career, and the second year in a row with the Lions, that he was named captain. He was also a team captain with the Tennessee Titans in For the fi rst time in his career, Suh is a captain on defense. Wendling, the seventh-year pro, was voted captain for the second-year in a row on special teams. For the fi rst time in his 16-year career, Akers was voted team captain for the season. While with the Eagles and 49ers, those teams chose captains on a game basis, which he served several times. This is the eighth-straight year the Lions selected captains for the entire season. Prior to the launch of the NFL s initiative, team captains in 2006 were recognized with a gold C on their practice jersey.
