8 To all Parents and Coaches: Welcome to the Great Lakes Region Windy City Power League. For some of you this may be your first season as a USAV member playing or coaching with a Great Lakes Region Junior club team. For others you may feel you are more seasoned in the world of Junior Volleyball and have been around for awhile. In either case we wish to make sure that everyone is on the same page when it comes to rules and regulations within the Region in order to make the season and league an enjoyable one for all. Schedules: This year all seeding dates schedules as well as league dates schedules will be posted through AES (Advanced Event Systems). This is an online tournament site where results are posted at the completion of each round so that even those not in attendance can track their team s progress throughout the day and entire event. To access the site go to Once at the site you will be able to select the Windy City Power League age division that you are involved in to pull up your teams schedule and see results. Once the seeding dates have been completed the League schedule will be posted and you will know where and when the team will play for the remainder of the league. Please note that for the first Seeding weekend for the 14 and under s an afternoon wave was needed to be played. This was due to the 8 th grade testing date for the Catholic High Schools taking place on Saturday. We tried to place the pools at a site that would be as convenient as possible but certainly could not accommodate all teams. We hope that the 3:00pm start time gives the girls enough time to get to their sites without problems. Facility Rules: Please be aware that there are facility rules forbidding outside food to be brought in to our facilities. There are local/city ordinances that prohibit outside food to be brought in when concessions stands are offered. When you go to any sporting event, concert or movie theatre you are not allowed to bring in outside food. The same holds true with our facilities. Each site offers a concession stand and therefore no outside food is allowed to be brought in. Those in violation of this rule will be fined $25.00 per offense the club will be charged and will then seek reimbursement from the offenders. If you feel the need to bring your own lunch or snacks leave them in the car and go out to the car to eat. You would not expect someone to come to your home with a picnic lunch and sit in the middle of your living room eating it we therefore do not expect you to bring your lunch into the facility to eat. Each site will have recycle containers available please instruct your athletes to use these to dispose of their plastic bottles etc at the end of each match. Keeping the bench areas clear of empty bottles is for their safety and safety comes first. Parking: On our Directions to Sites document we have certain parking restrictions listed for different sites. Please take the time to note these. Failure to do so puts you at risk of being towed from a facility.

9 Every spectator/parent must abide by the following code of conduct. Those not following this code will be asked to leave the facility. You are there to support a child in her athletic endeavors. Remember that your actions speak louder than words. Support not only your child but her entire team. This is a team sport and regardless of whether your child plays all of the time or not at all she is part of the bigger picture - THE TEAM! SPECTATOR/PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT I WILL: I WILL abide by the official rules of USA Volleyball. I WILL display good sportsmanship at all times. I WILL encourage my child and his/her team, regardless of the outcome on the court. I WILL educate myself on the unique rules of this facility. I WILL honor the rules of the host and the host facility. I WILL generate goodwill by being polite and respectful to those around me at this event. I WILL direct my child to speak directly with his/her coach when coaching decisions are made that may be confusing or unclear. I WILL redirect any negative comments from others to the respective Event Director or Program Administrator. I WILL direct all concerns regarding officials to the Head Coach or Club Director for my team/club as opposed to contacting the Head Official directly. I WILL immediately notify the Event Director and/or Program Administrator in the event that I witness any illegal activity. I WILL support the policies and guidelines of the team/club that I represent. I WILL acknowledge effort and good performance, remembering that all of the players in this event are amateur athletes.
