In The Rankings UCLA remained at No. 4 in the national rankings with a season average of The Bruins rank No. 3 on fl oor, No. 6 on uneven bars and balance beam and No. 8 on vault. Vanessa Zamarripa ranks in the Top 15 in the all-around (2nd, average), bars (T-13th, 9.867), beam (T-2nd, 9.900) and fl oor (1st, 9.963). Olivia Courtney ranks in the Top 20 in the all-around (T-20th, ), vault (T-17th, 9.883) and fl oor (T-5th, 9.900). The Bruins have three ranked in the Top 5 on fl oor (No. 1 Zamarripa, No. 5 Courtney and Alyssa Pritchett). Danusia Francis ranks 14th on beam (9.867). Last Time Out Competing on the road for the fi rst time this season, the Bruins made themselves at home at Arizona State, defeating the Sun Devils, on Jan. 25. UCLA scored a season-high on vault and set four season-highs on balance beam, recording a team total of Vanessa Zamarripa won both events in which she competed (vault with a season-high 9.95 and bars with a 9.825), and freshmen Sophina DeJesus and Danusia Francis tied for fi rst on beam with scores of Rookie Performers Shine With UCLA needing to replace 12 routines from last year's NCAA Championships, many new faces are emerging to play key roles in Freshmen Sophina DeJesus and Danusia Francis have jumped right into competition, with each winning two events in the Bruins' three meets. About The Cardinal Stanford is coming off a dual meet road win at Cal, The Cardinal ranks 11th in the nation with a season average of Senior Ashley Morgan ranks 24th in the nation in the all-around with an average of and earned Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors this week after winning the all-around both at Georgia and at Cal. The Cardinal have fi ve returning All-Americans on its squad - Morgan, Ivana Hong, Shona Morgan, Amanda Spinner and Samantha Shapiro. The Series With Stanford UCLA holds a overall regular season record against Stanford and went 2-0 against the Cardinal last year, with a dual meet win in Los Angeles and a fi rstplace fi nish at the Pac-12 Championships. The Bruins will be seeking their fi rst dual meet win at Stanford since the 2005 season. Bay Area Bruins Three of the four members of the UCLA sophomore class are from the Bay Area and will be enjoying a hometown visit - Sadiqua Bynum (Berkeley, Calif.), Ellette Craddock (San Francisco, Calif.) and Dana McDonald (Piedmont, Calif.). Bynum and McDonald have competed in every meet this season, with Bynum seeing action on fl oor exercise and McDonald consistently drawing high marks as the leadoff on both vault and fl oor. She also made her collegiate debut on beam last weekend. Craddock had strong exhibition performances in the season opener but is out for the rest of the year after undergoing surgery on her fi nger after an accident. British Invasion Former Heathrow Gymnastics Club teammates Danusia Francis and Rebecca Wing will reunite on Saturday when Francis' Bruins visit Wing's Cardinal. Francis was a member of Great Britain's World Championship team in 2011 and was a reserve on the 2012 Olympic squad. Wing competed at the 2008 Olympic Games and 2007 and 2009 World Championships. DeJesus Honored by Pac-12 For the second time in four weeks, Sophina DeJesus earned Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Week honors. DeJesus, who won the season's fi rst award, was honored again this week after she placed fi rst on beam and second on bars and fl oor in the Bruins' road win at Arizona State. DeJesus posted career-bests of on beam and fl oor. Academic Standouts Eleven team members made the Director's Honor Roll for Fall Quarter (3.0 GPA in at least 12 quarter units) - Kaelie Baer, Monique De La Torre, Danusia Francis, Mattie Larson, Christine Peng-Peng Lee, Dana McDonald, Asi Peko, Samantha Peszek, Sydney Sawa, Lichelle Wong and Vanessa p. 1 of 4

2 Zamarripa. In all, 364 UCLA student-athletes - 49% of enrolled student-athletes, made the Director's Honor Roll this past quarter. About The Bruins The Bruins return fi ve All- Americans from last year's Pac-12 championship squad, including 2010 NCAA vault champion Vanessa Zamarripa, two-time Pac-12 vault champion Olivia Courtney and 2011 fi rst-team uneven bars All-American Monique De La Torre. Also returning are Kaelie Baer, Mattie Larson and Alyssa Pritchett, who each contributed to the Bruins' strong performance at the NCAA Super Six. The Bruins also regain the services of 2011 fl oor exercise All-American Sydney Sawa, who did not compete last year due to a shoulder injury, and Scholastic All-American Lichelle Wong, who missed the second half of the season with an Achilles injury, Along with the loss of three seniors (Elyse Hopfner- Hibbs, Aisha Gerber and Tauny Frattone) who contributed eight high-scoring routines at the NCAAs, the Bruins face another big loss with the injury to 2011 NCAA beam champion Samantha Peszek, who tore her Achilles tendon in December and will redshirt the season. UCLA does bring in a strong freshman class, however, led by 2012 British Olympic alternate Danusia Francis, 2012 Canadian Olympic honorary captain Christine Peng-Peng Lee, and former U.S. national team member Sophina DeJesus. Super Seniors Back for Fifth Season The Bruins have three redshirt seniors returning for Kaelie Baer, Alyssa Pritchett and Vanessa Zamarripa. Baer sat out in 2010 and most of 2011 due to injuries but returned strong in 2012, competing in every meet for the Bruins on vault and contributing career-high scores of on beam both days of competition at the NCAA Championships. Pritchett also enjoyed a breakout year in 2012 after missing 2011 with a stress fracture in her ankle. She competed on fl oor exercise in each of the Bruins' last 11 meets and recorded two victories. She averaged on the year and posted career-bests of 9.9 twice. Zamarripa sat out 2011 with a ruptured Achilles and came back in 2012 to score two perfect 10s on vault and enjoy 2013 UCLA Gymnastics Roster a dominating all-around performance at the NCAA Super Six, scoring a career-high Peszek, Craddock Out for Season The Bruins will be without junior Samantha Peszek and sophomore Ellette Craddock, who sustained season-ending injuries. Peszek suffered a torn right Achilles tendon in practice on Dec. 17. She underwent successful surgery on Dec. 20 and will have two years of eligibility remaining after she redshirts this year. Peszek is a four-time All-American and won the 2011 NCAA Balance Beam title. She was also a silver medalist on the 2008 U.S. Olympic team and gold medalist on the 2007 World Championship team. Craddock will be out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a sliced tendon on one of her left fi ngers, which was caused by a nongymnastics-related accident. Craddock had scored well in exhibition performances on bars and beam in the season opener and was scheduled to be in the competitive lineup against Utah prior to the injury. UCLA Signs Two in Early Signing Period UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field signed two gymnasts in the early signing period in November - two-time U.S. National Team member Hallie Mossett and reigning Level 10 national fl oor exercise champion Angela Cipra. The duo will join the six-time NCAA champion Bruins for the 2014 season. Mossett is a local product from West Coast Elite Gymnastics and Vistamar HS. She is a fi ve-time VISA Championships competitor, qualifying for the national championship meet from Her highest fi nish at the VISA Championships was a ninth-place showing to make the national team in She also had Top 15 fi nishes in 2009 (12th) and 2007 (15th). In 2011, Mossett was named to the U.S. National team and was an alternate for the Pan American Games. Cipra hails from Mesa, Ariz. and trains at Desert Devils while attending school at Saguaro HS. A Level 10 gymnast since 2010, Cipra quickly rose to the top of the ranks, winning the 2012 national fl oor exercise title and placing third on vault. Not only has she consistently recruited and coached some of the top talent in the world, but she has produced the results. The Bruins won their fi rst NCAA championship in 1997 under Kondos Field and won again in back-to-back seasons in both and In 2010, UCLA won its sixth NCAA title with a 24-for-24 performance in the Super Six. UCLA has remained the Leader of the Pac under Kondos Field's tenure, winning 12 conference titles, including the inaugural Pac-12 title in 2012, to go along with 16 NCAA Regional titles. She has won both National and Conference Coach of the Year honors four times in her career. Kondos Field emphasizes a team concept, but her student-athletes have also found individual success, winning 25 NCAA individual titles during her years as head coach, including 22 in the last 14 years. In 22 years as Bruin head coach, Kondos Field enters 2013 with a career record of (.813 winning percentage). She was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in p. 3 of 4

4 Meet Summaries Meet 1 - vs. Southern Utah (Jan. 6) UCLA won its season opener against Southern Utah, , keeping alive a streak of 12 consecutive victories in home season openers. The Bruins were buoyed by scores of 49.3 on uneven bars and on fl oor exercise. Vanessa Zamarripa won the all-around (39.475), beam (9.875) and fl oor (careerhigh 9.975). Olivia Courtney won vault (9.875), and Lichelle Wong and Sophina DeJesus tied for fi rst on bars (9.9). The Bruins utilized many fi rst-time competitors, replacing 12 of their routines from last year's NCAA Championships. Armed with a fl urry of stuck landings on vault, the Bruins took a big lead after the fi rst rotation and never looked back, scoring or higher on all four events to post a national-best team total. Vanessa Zamarripa won the all-around with a and captured fi rst place on three events, winning uneven bars with a and tying for fi rst on balance beam with freshman teammate Danusia Francis (9.925), and with junior teammate Olivia Courtney on fl oor exercise (9.950).
