When Coach Brakefield took the Head Coaching job at Appalachian St, Fisher went along with him as Offensive Coordinator. In 1980, Fisher left App St for the Air Force Academy as Quarterback Coach and later became Offensive Coordinator
2 In 1983, he was named Head Coach of the Air Force Academy Head Coach- During his long tenure (23 years) as head coach, Fisher had many Accomplishments and received many recognitions. He had a record of169 wins and 107 losses. He has the most wins of any coach in Military Academy history. His 1985 team went 12-1 with a victory in the Cotton Bowl Against Texas. Fisher received the Coaches Award, Writers Award, and the Bobby Dodd Award for Coaching. He received the State Farm Coach of Distinction Award in 2001 He has served as President of the American Football Coaches Association He received an Honorary Doctors Degree from Wofford And, he is a member of the South Carolina Sports Hall of Fame In addition to his work in athletics, he is active in church and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Activities Nathan Fields Graduated from Clemson University Was a four year track athlete. Senior year, was State Champion and set a new record in the pole vault With a height of 15 2 ½ Same year, place 4 th in the State Meet in the high jump and 6 th place in the high hurdles - Lettered all four years at Clemson He was a member of 5 ACC Championship teams Ran on the championship team in the Shuttle Hurdles at the Penn Relays in 92 Had a 3 rd place finish in the Decathlon in the ACC Track and Field Championships In 1994, had a 3 rd finish in the indoor pole vault and the ACC Championships with a height of 16 8 ¾. Larry Jewell Graduated from McClenaghan Graduated from USC in1957 Played three years of varsity baseball as an infielder. Elected team captain his senior year
3 Walked on at USC to play baseball. By his Soph year, he was put on scholarship He had become the starting second baseman for USC. He lettered three years Known for his outstanding defense though he was a good hitter, also. Became one of the best fielders in the ACC as well as the nation He made only 8 errors out of 279 chances for a fielding average of.972 He was elected team captain and MVP his senior year and received hig Greatest honor by being named All ACC his Junior and Senior years Following graduation, he was drafted and sent to the Florida-Alabama League. His career ended when he was drafted into military service. Sam Muldrow Graduated from Wilson Graduated From USC Played basketball For his outstanding play at Wilson, Named Morning News Player of the Year He was named All State He was AAA Player Of The Year in South Carolina Runner up Gatorade Player of the Year in South Carolina. Led Wilson to the AAA State Championship Played on the US National Team in the Albert Schweitzer Games in Germany 2011 All SEC Defensive Team 2011 SEC Defensive Player of the Year (only in school history) 2011 Lefty Drisell Defensive Team All American 2011 Had a triple double game against Vanderbilt 16 points, 14 rebounds, 10 blocked shots USC school record for blocked shots In a game (10) USC school record for career blocked shots (275) Led team in block shots three times Led team in rebounding two times Led team in field goal percentage one time After college, played professionally in Europe and is playing there this year. Carlos Powell Graduated from Wilson Graduated from USC Outstanding Basketball player in high school and college
4 Known for his hustle and enthusiasm for the game on the court Named Region 6 AAA Player of the Year He was named to the All State AAA basketball team Named AAA Basketball State Runner-up Player of the Year All SEC NIT Most Outstanding Player Frank McGuire MVP SEC Good Works Team Among USC Career Leaders in eight categories including: Steals in a season Games played in a season Career games played in a season Minutes played in a season Minutes played in a Career Career points scored Career field goals attempted Career field goals made Field goal Percentage Led team in scoring Soph, Junior, and Senior years He was the first player picked in the NBA Developmental Draft. Camped that same year with Golden State Warriors and played in the NBA Developmental League. Later, he played with teams in Europe, Middle East, Israel, China, New Zealand, and South Korea. He is playing in South Korea at this time. Bob Schuster West Florence- USC- - Participated in three sports, basketball, football, and track Football- Two Way Player As a Junior, he was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Morning News As a Senior, he was named Offensive player of the Week by the Morning News In track, he excelled. Batting champion with an average of.429 as well as pitching for the team Junior In , he played for Spartanburg Methodist He was drafted in the 4 th round in 1981 by the Atlanta Braves He did not sign. Transferred to Francis Marion in 1981 where he lettered in baseball and cross country He was a starting pitcher for Francis Marion from 1983 thru 1985 and became the ace of the staff In the summer of 1983, he pitched in the Shenadoah Valley League. In 1984, he played with the Athletes In Action Summer Baseball Team After graduation from college, he served 10 years in the Marines and since has worked in the medical field and volunteered with many organization.
