3 Nov. 7 & 9 News and Notes All-Time vs. Central Florida The Huskies are 0-4 all-time against the Knights in a series that dates back to Earlier this season, UCF swept Connectciut in Orlando, holding the Huskies to a.079 team hitting percentage. All-Time vs. USF UConn sports a 7-5 record all-time against South Florida, which includes a 3-1 loss to the Bulls on Oct. 3. USF has won the last three match-ups, dating back to a 3-1 Husky win on Nov. 9, Last Time Out UConn split a pair of road weekend games against Cincinnati and Memphis. The Huskies snapped their eight-game conference losing streak against the Bearcats on Oct. 31, paced by a 15-kill, 16-dig performance from senior tri-captain Devon Maugle. Home Sweet Home The Huskies return home to Gampel Pavilion for just the third time since Oct. 13. This season, UConn holds a 5-6 mark on its home court. Over the last four seasons, the Huskies are at Gampel. Going for 1000/1000 Senior tri-captain Devon Maugle is attempting to become just the seventh player in Husky history to record at least 1000 career kills and 1000 career digs. The outside hitter current boasts 963 kills to go along with 917 digs. National Rankings Senior libero Brianna Datti checks in at No. 81 in the nation with 4.49 digs/set, while junior middle blocker Immanuella Anagu s.328 hitting percentage is good for 128th in the country. Force at the Net Junior captain Erika Thomas became just the seventh UConn player to record at least 300 career rejections. The Husky tri-captain sits at No. 8 in program history with 312 career blocks. Strawberry Rising Sophomore outside hitter Jade Strawberry has emerged as one of the Huskies most consistent players over the last four matches. Since Oct. 24, she is third on the team with 37 kills with a stellar 2.31 kills/set mark. Answering the Call Senior Sage Esposito has been thrust into setting duties this season after an injury to sophomore transfer Jessika Long. In 22 matches, Esposito has registered a career-bset 396 assists and also chipped in 20 service aces. She has appeared in 87 sets after playing in 67 all of last season. Re-Writing the History Books Senior tri-captain Brianna Datti became just the 11th Husky to record 1,000 career digs after scooping 12 against Columbia on Sept. 12. Currently, the Husky libero boasts 1,292 digs, which is good for ninth all-time. First Set is Key This season, UConn is 10-3 when winning the first set, compared to 0-10 when dropping the first frame. Conference Accolades Earlier this season, Anagu became the first player in the history of the American Athletic Conference to receive both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week accolade in the same season. She was tabbed as the Defensive POW on Sept. 1 and the Offensive POW on Sept. 29.
