1 I<lNGS RIVER GAZETTE Volume 10, Issue 4 The official publication of the Kings RiveiRegulators April2005 Kings River Kid Shines Like the Sun by Slick Rock Rooster, Mayor What a great day for a good shoot. The match was the first written by the Kings River Kid. I hope he will take the time and initiative to write more in the future. Great iob Cowboy! The Posse leaders consisting of Wildcat John and Snakebite, Major Gregor, Ramrod, and Talon Hawke led the great tumout through the course of fue. Wildcat John and Snakebite had to be called on to fill in for the missing Tucson Smith at the last minute. Thank you cowboys. Everyone seemed to have a great time. This was th!! fust shoot in a long time that had the temperature above seventy degrees. It was nice to have a little good weather for a change. We did not have to light the fire, there was no mud or dust. It was just about perfect. We had a five shot reload, two shotgun knockdowns with flyers that gave everyone a challenge. My only criticism of the stages as written would be not to end with a rifle. Rifle shots are difficult for the timer to register. The turnout of fifty-four shooters was great to see. A terrific group from Manteca came down to shoot with us. Madam Yaya, Greezy Me Nasty, Blaze N Sted, Red River Road Agent, Lefty Vaquero, Cherokee Knight, Shelby, Sassy Steph, Shakey Dick, Tabasco Jack and Frank Bruce along with Sonora Fast Eddie made the trip to play with us. We had two new shooters join us for the fust time Big "0" Pistolas aka Oscar Martinez and Shakey Dick aka Richard McCaslin. I believe they both had a good time. Oscar had to leave a little early and will plan better next month. A Kings River founder that we have been missing turned up and showed he can still shoot pretty dam well. Welcome back Hank! On the cover ofthis month's (April2005) Cowboy Chronicle is our Territorial Governor Snakebite. If you look at this picture you can see the smoke and flames coming out of his rifle. If you look reeel close you can see the same coming out of his restaged shotgun sitting on the hay bale. Great picture of a great cowboy. Also in the Chronicle is a good article by Quick Cal on spotters. I encourage everyone to read and reread this article. Cal does a great job with his articles on range officers. Sierra has scheduled May 7th as a work party day. We will be doing spring cleanup and putting up some structure at the corral. Bring your weed whackers, shovels, rakes hoes etc. Chuck Wagon Diva is concocting some fme food for lunch to be served. See you there at 8:00 am. The flyers and registration forms for Fort Miller are out and available. Sign up soon. We are happy to announce that Hodgdon Powder Co. will again be our sponsor. Thank you HODGDON! Snakebite and Little Fawn are offto End of Trail at the end of the month. I don't know if they are still betting candy bars but the best of luck to all KRR participants at End of Trail and to those who will shoot at Bakersfield that same weekend. - SRR This group ofkrr shooters represented us well at the...
