Conversely, Evansville, which recorded a record of in pre-conference play, is now 2-0 in the league, with wins against Drake and UNI. PRE-SEASON POLL 1. Yet on the slate are non-league tilts against Kansas State (Missouri State and Illinois State), Iowa State (Drake and UNI). League teams are 2-0 in matches against the Wildcats this year. In addition to the league s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week selections, several conference players had notable performances, and they include: OFFENSE JBess Ruby, Evansville JBess Ruby has started six consecutive matches for the Aces, and she picked up her first career goal in Sunday s 3-1 win over UNI. She fired home the match s second goal from beyond the 18-yard box, and just four minutes later, she d set up Mikayla Harvey for her first career goal. It was also the first assist of the season for Ruby. Sarah Brandt, UNI Brandt scored the lone goal for the Panthers in the 3-1 loss at Evansville; it was her team-leading fifth of the year. Madison Kimball, Loyola Kimball scored the first goal of her collegiate career as Loyola picked up a 2-0 win in its MVC opener at Missouri State. She found the back of the net off of a free kick with just over seven minutes gone in the first half to give the Ramblers a lead that they would not relinquish. Abby Basler, Illinois State Basler achieved her first hat trick in Saturday s match at Chicago State, with goals in the 28th, 84th, and 85th minutes of the 10-0 victory. She now has four goals on the season and has played in all 13 games. Brooke Salisbury, Drake Salisbury scored Drake s first goal Friday at Indiana State and she followed that with 80 solid minutes in Drake s 1-0 win over Kansas State on Sunday. She nearly had another goal off a header as her attempt late in the first half hit the crossbar. DEFENSE Kasey Hurt, Drake Hurt recorded her second two-assist game of the season Friday at Indiana State. Hurt leads the team and is tied for first in the conference with six assists this season. For her career, she has 13 to rank tied for sixth all-time in program history. Sara Stankoskey, Illinois State Stankoskey was the anchor of the Redbird defense Saturday, holding Chicago State to only eight shots in the 10-0 victory for the Redbirds. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., product added one save as the Maroon & Gold posted its second consecutive clean sheet. Brittany San Roman, Indiana State San Roman has played nearly every minute of 2016 in goal for the Sycamores. The senior keeper has made a total of 80 saves with a.769 save percentage. San Roman recorded five saves in Indiana State s win over Drake and another 12 in their 2 to 1 overtime loss to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Assist You Junior Kasey Hurt recorded her second two-assist game of the season Friday at Indiana State. Hurt tallied the assist on each of Drake s first two goals against the Sycamores. She sent a corner kick in that Brooke Salisbury headed in for the first goal and followed that with a cross to freshman Cassie Rohan for the Bulldogs second goal. Hurt leads the team and is tied for first in the conference with six assists this season. For her career, she has 13 to rank tied for sixth all-time in program history. Add Another One Drake finished with its eighth shutout of the season with the 1-0 win over Kansas State on Sunday. The Bulldogs have allowed just nine goals this season, which is tied with Illinois State for the lowest total in the Missouri Valley Conference Drake Bulldogs Schedule EVANSVILLE (3-9-1, MVC) Ruby Finds the Net After spending her first two seasons in Evansville as a reserve, JBess Ruby has become an important part of the Aces midfield this season. The junior out of Birmingham, Mich., has started six consecutive matches, and she picked up her first career goal in Sunday s 3-1 win over UNI. She fired home the match s second goal from beyond the 18-yard box, and just four minutes later, she d set up Mikayla Harvey for her first career goal. It was also the first assist of the season for Ruby. Picking Up Steam After a difficult non-conference slate, the Purple Aces have picked up steam in Missouri Valley Conference play. Last week s 1-0 victory at Drake ended a nine-match winless streak, and after an impressive 3-1 victory over UNI on Sunday, the Aces find themselves atop the league standings with a record. It s the first start for the Aces since 2013, and overall, the Aces have enjoyed perfect two-match starts on seven occasions. Boswell Notches Key Assist Bronwyn Boswell, who started the year with five goals and an assist in the first seven matches, finally got back in the box score in Sunday s win over Northern Iowa. This would also be the first time that Indiana State would go into overtime so far in Conference Conquest Indiana State beat Drake for their first conference win of the season on Sept. 30, 3-2. Down 2-0 late in the match, Maddie Orf scored a header off of a Katie Wells corner kick to start the comeback in the 69th minute. Ten minutes later Wells got the equalizer off of a long ball from Katie Sullivan that bounced and she was able to head over top of the Drake keeper. Kayla Schrubb notched the game winner and her first goal of the season when a shot rebounded off a Drake defender from the top of the 18 yard box to slot the ball into the upper right corner putting the Sycamores up 3-2, marking the first time since 2013 that Indiana State beat Drake. Wonderful Wells Sophomore Katie Wells has had an impressive season so far in Wells is leading point scorer with 16 where she has racked up a team high of six assists. Wells has also tallied five goals of her own to tie for the team lead. Wells put together another great weekend of play for the Sycamores. Sophomores Madison Kimball and Jenna Szczesny found the back of the net in the victory for the Maroon & Gold. Hanging Up a Zero After only recording one shutout through the season s opening 10 games, Loyola has posted clean sheets in each of its last two. MISSOURI STATE (3-7-2, MVC) Mighty Millie Besides goalkeeper Evan Stamp, senior Millie Kingsbury was the only Bear to play the entirety of MSU s match against Loyola on Sunday. Kingsbury and company helped keep Loyola out of the homehalf of the pitch in the second half on Sunday, limiting the Ramblers to just a single shot. Leader of the Bear Pack Mary Disidore tallied three shots in a single match for the second time on Sunday in MSU s 2-0 loss to Loyola. Two of her three shots came within three minutes of each other, sending the ball just wide of the goal both times. The junior surpassed her shot total from last season (10), and leads the team in the category with 14 on the season so far. Searching for Points The Bears look to win their first conference match at Illinois State on Sunday (Oct. 9).
