2 RESIDENCE: STATE RESIDENT QUALIFIERS: NOTE: 2017 New Mexico State USA Shooting AIR RIFLE Each competitor may claim residence in only one state and must declare the state of residence on the entry form. Residents are eligible for the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place USA Shooting State Champion medallions. Residency is defined as to where the competitor holds a current and valid driver s license. If the competitor does not have a drivers license, residency is then defined as to where the competitor s parents/guardians reside. Non-residents are not eligible for state awards. Non-residents may compete for invitations to the National Championship and are encouraged to do so. Only U.S. Citizens will be eligible for medals at both the state JOSC and the NJOSC. USA Shooting will issue official invitations to the 2017 National Junior Olympic Shooting Championships (NJOSC) for the high scoring male and high scoring female resident from each State JOSC, provided they fire a minimum qualifying score. Resident collegiate and/or military competitors are eligible for the state resident champion awards and are also eligible for resident state qualifier invitations. To qualify for a State Champion Invitation there must be at least 6 competitors in your discipline. If only 6 combined men and women than overall high score average, Score/Maximum Score, will receive a State Champion automatic invitation. If 6+ in each gender then both will receive an automatic invitation provided they meet the minimum score. ENTRY: Only scores from a registered State Junior Olympic match will count for invitation to the National Junior Olympic Championships. Shooters may not compete in more than one state JOSC. Juniors who fire in their own home state JOSC will not be allowed to shoot in another state. Juniors from states which are not holding a state JOSC, and those who cannot attend their own state JOSC, will be allowed to enter as a non-resident in another state. Non-residents should declare their home state at entry and are not eligible for state resident awards. Non-residents are only eligible for Automatic Invitations or Cutoff Score Invitations. 3 CATEGORIES: The following categories will be used for individual and team competition: (Age group based on athlete age in 2017) Junior (J1); age 18-20: competitors born from Intermediate Junior (J2); age 15-17: competitors born from Sub-Junior (J3); age 14 & under: competitors born in 2003 or later. RULES: 2016 USA Shooting Rules Will Govern the QUALIFIERS USA Shooting will remain with whole ring (integer) scoring in the 10 meter events. Copies of the USA Shooting Rulebook may be found on the USA Shooting Website Competitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to know and conform to these rules. ( COURSE OF FIRE: Men 60 shots at 10m. Women 40 shots at 10m. Note: Women will be allowed to fire 60 shots for collegiate coach notification, but only the first 40 shots will be reported for State JOSC qualification TARGETS: TIME LIMIT: EQUIPMENT: SIGHTS: COACHING: SCORING PROTESTS: TIES: PARTICIPATION PINS: ORION-5/10 Targets will be used Electronically Scored Men 1hour & 30 Minutes (90 minutes) Women 60 Minutes (90 min if firing 60 shots) Ear & EyeProtection is recommended. EYE PROTECTION REQUIRED at SJWF Range All Rifles and other equipment must conform to the USA Shooting Rifle Rules, except as noted above. Sights must conform to section of the USA Shooting Rules Coaching is not permitted after the preparation/sighter period begins. A scoring protest fee of $5.00 per shot will be charged. USA Shooting EST scoring protest rules will apply. All ties will be broken in accordance with current USA Shooting Rules A Junior Olympic participation pin provided by USA Shooting will be given to each competitor. Page 3

4 AWARDS: MAKE ENTRY: Provided by USA Shooting USA Shooting will provide a gold medallion for the top resident individual, silver medallion for the 2nd place resident individual and a bronze medallion for the 3rd place resident individual. Relay slots should be reserved by calling the appropriate match contact at: REQUIRED FOR ADVANCED ENTRY: 1. Name 2. Current USA Shooting Membership Number (as of date of match) It is suggested that the athlete completely & legibly fill out and bring the entry form enclosed with this program. A current USA Shooting Membership number is required. A VALID (legible) address is required. Invitations to the 2017 JOs will only be done by DOUBLE CHECK the legibility and correctness of the address. Coaches & Parents: Make copies of the entry form as necessary. ENTRY FEE: $15.00 per USA Shooting member for advanced entry. PLUS $60.00 for new or renewing members if done at the match ENTRIES CLOSE: Advance entries will close Dec 7, Entries will be accepted to range capacity. Relays not reserved or requested by Dec 7, 2016 may be cancelled by the match host with no notification. Every effort will be made to accept all competitors who enter before the closing date. LATE ENTRIES: Entries made after the closing date will be accepted only up to available range capacity CANCELLATIONS:Cancellations received by December 7, 2016 will receive a full refund minus USA Shooting membership fees. 5 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: Lanes will be assigned by lottery/draw at check in. Multiple relays will be fired to accommodate all pre-entered competitors. Competitors checking in after the designated relay time are late competitors and may be accommodated in a later relay up to range capacity. The entry fee will not be refunded if there are no later lanes available for late competitors. DIRECTIONS TO RANGES: Each relay will consist of: - A safety & match procedures review will be held - A 15 minute period will be given to hang 2 targets and competitors to bring equipment to the line and setup. All rifles must be brought to the line in a case. When removed from the case the rifle will be made safe, and an Clear Barrel Indicator (CBI) is to be inserted. CBI s are mandatory - A 15 minute preparation/sighting period will be given - The 1 hour- 30 minute firing stage. (60 minutes for Women) There is 1 stage of25 min and 2 stages of 30 minutes each for each 2 target set. At stages 2&3 sighters are included in the firing time. At the end of their firing stage or stepping away from their rifle, the competitor must make their rifle safe and insert their CBI. Only one warning (yellow card) will be given, a second violation will be safety disqualified. - After all competitors have completed firing, a minute equipment teardown period will be given. 6 RANGE ACCESS NOTES : 2017 New Mexico State USA Shooting AIR RIFLE ZIA R&P and SJWF are a private ranges. You must be a member of the club to get thru the access gate by yourself. Non-members must be escorted at all times. At one hour before each Relay Start Time (above), a club member will arrive at the gate to unlock and escort the competitors to the range house. The access gate will only be attended at that time. It is the responsibility of the competitor to be at the club gate AT LEAST one hour before the Relay Start Time to meet the escort. Competitors arriving late and not checking in by the Relay Start Time will be deemed Late Competitors. OTHER INFORMATION: There is no food or water at Zia, so make sure you bring some food and plenty of water. STATE & AUTOMATIC QUALIFYING SCORES: All state Junior Olympic air rifle matches must be conducted using USA Shooting Rules. o The course of fire for men is 60 shots at 10m. o The course of fire for women is 40 shots at 10m. Automatic invitations are issued to all who fire above the Automatic Invite score. One male and one female State Qualifier will be invited per state provided they fire above the minimum required State Qualifier score. Remaining at-large competitors will be ranked by age category and score and Invitations will be issued based off of ranked cut-off scores up to range capacity.
