Emeka Okafor s stellar 7-7 performance 2/6 vs. SAC helped him on his way to a season-high 19 points and marked the most free throws made in a game without a miss in his NBA career (almost 500 games at the time). CLOSE CALLS Although the record didn t accurately reflect it, the Hornets played competitively all season, exemplified by the fact that 44 of 66 games (66.7%) were decided by 10 points or fewer and had a better point differential than seven teams in the league despite having equal or fewer wins than five of them. Earlier this season, the Bees had three consecutive losses by just two points (the first game of the stretch 1/19 at HOU came in overtime) it was the first time in franchise history the Hornets had been involved in three straight games decided by two points or less. The team pushed three teams (Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers and Houston Rockets) to overtime early in the season, but lost all three of its first overtime contests. In the two games at home vs. the Spurs, the Hornets have lost by a combined five points, most recently a three-point loss on 3/24, New Orleans also lost to Detroit on 2/4 by two, the fifth game decided by less than three points this season. The Hornets were in games decided by 10 points or less. GREIVIS DISHES OUT DOUBLES Second-year point guard Greivis Vasquez has gone on a tear recently, recording double-doubles in three of four games from 4/4 vs. DEN to 4/9 vs. LAL starting the 12 games at point between 4/4 vs. DEN and 4/24 at GSW, he averaged 12.1 ppg, 7.5 apg, 3.3 rpg and 1.0 spg and had six double-doubles on the season 4/16 at CHA, Vasquez tied a career-high 20 points, while dishing out a game-high six assists. GV narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and nine assists (three steals) 4/15 vs. MEM. As one of three Hornets to record double-doubles 4/7 vs. MIN, Vasquez recorded 11 points and 10 assists while also contributing five rebounds in a crucial home win over the Timberwolves. Greivis stepped in for an injured Jarrett Jack 4/4 vs. DEN, and finished the game with 11 points and 10 assists while missing just one shot the entire game (4-5 FG, 1-1 3P, 2-2 FT). LOW SCORING VICTORIES Including the 4/16 win at CHA, the Hornets have won three other times in franchise history when scoring 75 points or less 12/21/10 vs. SAC, 75-71; 2/21/02 vs. HOU, 73-72; and 12/20/00 vs. MIA, CAREER NIGHT Forward Jason Smith set a new season and career high vs. the Timberwolves as he went from the floor with 26 points, 10 rebounds and three steals it was the first 20/10 game of his career and 3 rd career double-double In 36 minutes of play, Smith hit his first eight shots, going perfect in the first half. His first miss of the night (4/7) was at the 11:05 mark of the third quarter. STEALING THE SHOW New Orleans did an exemplary job forcing turnovers during the two game stretch 3/31 at LAL (14) and 4/1 at PHX (19) of the 33 turnovers, 21 were steals forced by the Hornets D forward Al-Farouq Aminu had seven steals in the two contests. RETURN OF J-SMITH In the 16 games (including starting the last 14 which he played) after returning 3/17 at NJN from missing 20 contests with a concussion, Jason Smith made his impact felt. In that time, Smith averaged 12.6 points and 6.2 rebounds with 13 blocks on 56.8% shooting. The fourth-year pro notched his 4 th double-double for the year 4/15 vs. MEM with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Smith tied a season high (at the time) with 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds 3/22 vs. LAC in his first start since returning 3/21 vs. GSW, Jason scored 12 points off the bench and grabbed seven rebounds (five offensive). Smitty logged just 6:11 4/6 at SAS after injuring himself falling into the stands after blocking a transition layup. BEST OF THE BENCH Al-Farouq Aminu s 15 points off the bench 3/26 at LAC were a team-best, marking the 12 th time this season a member of the bench has led the team in scoring it was the second time Aminu led the team in scoring this year, and contributed to the second unit (only five players strong) accounting for a season-high 54 of the team s 85 points Chris Johnson scored a career-high 11 points from the bench in the game on 4-6 shooting and grabbed a season-high six rebounds in the effort. All five available players (Aminu, Johnson, Carl Landry, Xavier Henry and Greivis Vasquez) played at least 20 minutes. NO DOUBTING THOMAS There was no doubt that rookie forward Lance Thomas, signed for the remainder of the season February 27 th after two 10- day contracts, was an NBA talent 3/9 at DEN Thomas scored a career-high 18 points while only taking six shots from the field (making three) the 18 points led the team, making Thomas the 11 th different Hornet to lead the squad in scoring this season. 12 of the rookie s points came from the free throw line (14 attempts) both numbers set the New Orleans individual high marks (at the time) in their respective categories for the year (previously 11 and 13, both by Carl Landry) the effort fell two makes and three attempts shy of the all-time franchise records, held by Brad Miller (5/5/99) and Chris Paul (1/21/06) in his previous 17 games, Thomas was from the line. The 2010 National Champion also played a career-high 30 minutes and grabbed a career-high four offensive rebounds.

10 INGREDIENTS 4 SUCCESS In the Hornets 21 wins this season, there were some common factors: In the first 10 wins this season, the Hornets outshot their opponent, forced 12+ turnovers and led at halftime all 21 wins have come when outshooting the opponent. In the 11 th and 12 th wins of the season (3/17 at NJ and 3/22 vs. LAC) the Hornets did much of the same outshooting NJ and LAC however the Bees trailed at halftime and entering the final period and came back to win, marking the first times to overcome a second half deficit and the 2 nd and 3 rd times to win when down entering the fourth quarter the Bees also overcame halftime deficits 4/4 vs. DEN and 4/19 vs. HOU. In 16 of the 20 wins, the opponent scored 90 points or fewer. Five of the 20 New Orleans wins have come in commanding fashion, by 11+ points. GOOD GREIVIS Second-year man Greivis Vasquez played his best stretch as a pro beginning 1/29 vs. ATL In all, Vasquez led the team in assists 37 times this season (nine ties), in scoring four times and in rebounding twice (both ties). GV Notched a double-double with 11 assists and 15 points 2/17 at NYK. 2/10 vs. POR, Vasquez set a career high with five steals and followed it up with three steals 2/13 vs. UTA Vasquez tied his career high with 20 points (6-9 FG) 2/6 vs. SAC and led the team with nine assists In the second start of his career (first as a Hornet) 2/2 at SAS, Vasquez tied his career high with seven made field goals on just 14 attempts (50.0%) and tied for the team lead with five assists and two steals he played a career-high 34 minutes in the game as well. In 28 minutes 2/1 vs. PHX Vasquez has his best game as a pro, scoring a career high 20 points, dishing a career high 12 assists and grabbing a career-high tying six rebounds he also tied a career high with seven made field goals His outing against the Suns marked the first time in franchise history that a reserve scored at least 20 points and had at least 10 assists in a game it was Greivis first double-double of his career his 12 assists 2/1 were a New Orleans individual high for the season. SCRAPPY SECOND UNIT As the only four healthy reserves during the back-to-back 3/2 vs. defending World Champion Dallas and 3/3 vs. IND, the cast of a player on a 10-day contract (Solomon Jones), a player who spent unaffiliated time in the D-League this year (Lance Thomas) and two secondyear players acquired prior to the season (Xavier Henry and Greivis Vasquez) had an immense impact off the bench. Henry scored a career high 19 points on 8-12 shooting with two assists and a team-best two steals 3/2 and poured in nine points with six rebounds the following night. Vasquez led the team with seven assists against the Mavericks in just 19 minutes in the game and also grabbed six rebounds in that time with a steal and a block. Jones had a season-high 11 points on 5-9 shooting against Dallas, including a pair of clutch 4 th quarter jumpers and grabbed five rebounds.he followed up that performance with a 12 point/nine rebound effort, one rebound and two points shy of matching his career high numbers. In only seven minutes, Thomas was able to collect four rebounds 3/2 and scored eight points with three boards in 14 minutes against the Pacers. Starters Emeka Okafor, Jason Smith, Trevor Ariza, Eric Gordon and sixth-man Carl Landry all missed the games due to injury or illness this marked the third and fourth games this season the Hornets only had nine healthy bodies for a game due to a rash of injuries and New Orleans is a respectable 2-2 in those games. SABOR INTERNACIONAL = INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR Vazquez, a rookie last season, joined Carl Herrera ( ) and Oscar Torres ( ) as the only Venezuelan-born players. Early season pickup Xavier Henry was born in Belgium, and is one of only two players in the NBA (joining Tony Parker) to be born in that country. F Al-Farouq Aminu is of Nigerian descent and plans to compete with his national team this summer. COMPACT CAMPAIGN The shortened season featured 66 games over the course of only 120 days (not including the three day All-Star Break). Here are some notes that the peculiar schedule produced: January was the toughest month in terms of games played for the Hornets, with 18 contests (including 10 home dates), an average of a game every 1.72 days! This marks the fourth time in franchise history the Bees have had 18 games in a single month, joining March and April 1999 (also a post-work stoppage season) and in March of 1990 the last time the Hornets had 10 home games in a month was in January 2007, when they played host to 11 games. The Hornets played a back-to-back-to-back February 20 th 22 nd in Oklahoma City, Indiana and Cleveland, respectively, only the second time in franchise history the team has had such a stretch of games. The schedule featured 15 sets of back-to-back games there were three sets of home back-to-backs, all in the first three weeks of March (2 nd /3 rd, 14 th /15 th and 21 st /22 nd ). February 11 th and 12 th was the first time the team had consecutive days off without a game. YOUTH MOVEMENT The average age of the three players the Hornets received from the Clippers in the December 14 th trade (Al-Farouq Aminu, Eric Gordon and Chris Kaman) was 24 years old Aminu (21) was the fourth-youngest player in the entire NBA last season. To begin the season, the Hornets had three rookies on the roster and three more players who had less than 82 games of NBA experience in fact, the Hornets ranked 3 rd in the NBA in least average experience with only 3.2 seasons of service per player coming into the year.
