This year s team is highlighted by the first full seasons for Delonte West, Ben Wallace and Wally Szczerbiak, the additions of Mo Williams, Tarence Kinsey, Lorenzen Wright and Jawad Williams along with the drafting of rookie forwards J.J. Hickson and Darnell Jackson. Hickson was drafted with the 19th pick overall in the 2008 Draft and Darnell Jackson s draft rights were acquired from Miami. Hickson earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference in his only season at North Carolina State, playing in 31 games (26 starts) and averaged 14.8 points on a conference-best.591 shooting and a conference second-best 8.5 rebounds per game. Jackson played all four seasons at Kansas and averaged 6.8 points on.580 shooting and 4.9 rebounds in 125 games (39 starts) while helping lead Kansas to four straight Big 12 regular-season titles and the 2008 NCAA title. Later in the summer, the team signed free agent guard Tarence Kinsey who played in 11 games with the Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 3.6 points on.421 shooting and 1.1 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game. Days later, the Cavs acquired Mo Williams from Milwaukee in exchange for Damon Jones and Joe Smith while Milwaukee acquired Luke Ridnour and Adrian Griffin from Oklahoma City for Smith and Desmond Mason. The team wasn t done, signing free agent big man Lorenzen Wright, who has averaged 8.1 points and 6.5 rebounds over his 12-year career. In addition, training camp invitee Jawad Williams, a member of the 2005 NCAA champion team from the University of North Carolina, made the team. FINDING PLAYOFF SUCCESS: Over the past three postseasons, Cleveland has tallied a record of (.565). Only San Antonio and Detroit have more playoffs wins during that stretch than Cleveland. AMONG THE BEST: The Cavaliers have been one of the premiere teams in the NBA from Dating back to the season, Cleveland has a record of (.589) which is the sixth-best record in the NBA during that time. Only Dallas, Detroit, Phoenix, San Antonio and Utah have posted better records than Cleveland. In addition, the Cavaliers are one of just eight teams in the NBA that have qualified for the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. The other teams are Eastern Conference foes Detroit and Washington while Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix and San Antonio have appeared in the Western Conference playoffs. WINNING WAYS: With their 45 wins this season, the Cavaliers have now won 45 or more games in each of their last three seasons. It marks just the second time in team history ( to ) that Cleveland reached that mark in three straight seasons. The only other teams with 45 or more wins in each of the last three seasons are Dallas, Detroit, Phoenix and San Antonio. OSCAR WORTHY: LeBron James finished the 2008 playoffs with averages of 28.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game. He joined Oscar Robertson as the only player in NBA playoff history to average at least those numbers. Robertson did it three times in his career (1962, 1963 and 1964). REACHING NEW HEIGHTS: Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas had one of the finest seasons of his career during the campaign. Ilgauskas averaged 14.1 points on.474 shooting, a career-high 9.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.6 blocks per game. On March 26 versus New Orleans, he grabbed his 5,000 th career rebound. In that game, he posted a season-high 29 points on shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds. He became just the second Cavalier in history to reach 5,000 rebounds trailing only Brad Daugherty who holds the franchise record with 5,227 rebounds. Ilgauskas already holds the franchise record for offensive rebounds (2,065) and ranks second in blocked shots (1,135) behind only John Hot Rod Williams (1,200). Ilgauskas was one of only six players in the NBA last season to post at least 1,000 points, 675 rebounds, 100 assists and 100 blocked shots joining Amare Stoudemire, Al Jefferson, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan and Andrew Bogut.
