Girls Basketball Parent Meeting RELENTLESS
We as a RELENTLESS coaching staff believe the combination of athletics and academics can be a tremendous experience in a young person s life. It should both complement and contribute to the overall educational process. For many students, it is the most effective climate for learning the lessons of integrity, determination, self-confidence, proper mental attitude, individual and group responsibility, and the desire to achieve high goals.
ATTITUDE THE FOUNDATION OF OUR PROGRAM Every member of our team must RELENTLESSLY work toward meeting our individual and team goals. We will not be out worked. We all share in the responsibility of making our program successful today and in the future. Accept and respect each person's role on the team. We will place a high value on the relentless pursuit of excellence. We will strive to help each teammate on this journey by vocal encouragement, character and skill development, and competitive play. We cannot tolerate those who might try to distract team members from our goals or who have behaviors that pull others away from our stated goals. We will not waste time with excuses. We will not offer excuses to explain our team play before or after games. We will take full responsibility for our actions. We will always have fun in our relentless pursuit of perfection!

EQUIPMENT INFORMATION YOUR DAUGTHER WILL BE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING: Two sets of practice clothes Varsity players will have their shoes provided. Sub varsity players will be able to purchase a team shoe. (Approximately $75.00) This equipment is property of MISD and must be returned. Your daughter will be required to replace any lost or damaged equipment per MISD policy
PRACTICE POLICY Players are expected to be at every practice. Do not miss practice unless it is an emergency. If you do have an emergency, you are expected to notify a coach PRIOR to the scheduled workout. Failure to notify a coach prior to the workout will result in one or more of the following : * An additional running assignment * Reduced playing time in the next game * Suspension from the next game * Suspension for the remainder of the season (if action becomes repetitive) Missing workout for any non-emergency situation will result in any or all of the above punishments. Be dressed in your full workout attire, taped if needed, etc., BEFORE the scheduled time. No talking while a coach is talking. Arrange all appointments (dentist, doctor, extra-curricular activities) around practice time, not during practice time.
ATHLETIC TRAINERS Athletes are expected to see the trainer if they become injured. If injured, athletes are expected to go to treatment before or after school. Once the extent of an injury is determined, it is up to the athlete to work with our trainers to complete their rehab so they can return to play.
TRAVEL POLICY If you miss the bus, you must be driven to the game by your parent to be eligible to play. You may or may not be allowed to play in the game. All athletes are expected to ride to and from away games with your teammates. Exceptions must be approved by the coach PRIOR to leaving for the game. You are expected to dress in designated travel attire. Listening to music on your cell phones are allowed on the bus as long as they do not become a distraction. No talking on cell phones once we are on the bus to travel to a game. If there is an emergency, ask for permission to use your phone. No moving around (standing up, switching seats, etc.) is allowed on the bus. You are to stay and sit together in the bleachers with your team while other teams from our school are playing. You are representing Midway High School and should act accordingly at all times. We leave places cleaner than we found them. This includes busses, bleachers, dressing rooms, etc.
Do not talk to the officials. GAME POLICY If you miss a game for any reason, you will EITHER sit the next game OR have a lengthy running assignment. Everyone is expected to participate in timeouts. When you substitute in the game, you are expected to hustle onto the floor. Furthermore, you are expected to give a high five to the person you are substituting for. When someone substitutes for you, you are expected to hustle off the floor. If you are on the bench when a substitution takes place the entire bench stands up and gives the girl coming out a high five. When you are on the floor, you are expected to play as hard as you can. When you are on the bench, you are expected to encourage your teammates. The three easiest ways to be taken out of the game: * You do not play hard and reacting like a pouty baby. * You do not know your assignment * You are looking in the stands at your parents, friends, boyfriend, instead of listening.
EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYERS Be on time in all situations. Go into every challenging situation expecting to win and be disappointed if you do not. Always keep a winning attitude. Play as hard as you can for as long as you can. Practice like you want to play. Know your role on the team, and execute it. Never be out-worked or out-competed!! Be responsible for the equipment issued to you. Always put the team goals over your personal goals. Treat the locker room as if it were your home away from home. Keep it neat and always pick up after yourself. Keep all conversations appropriate.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE COACHES We will work with relentless passion. We will ALWAYS put the team in front of one player. We will always listen to a player in the appropriate setting. We will never give up on you as a player or as a person. We will teach you life lessons through athletics. We will be organized and prepared for all practices.
PARENT/COACH RELATIONSHIPS AT MIDWAY Understanding and respecting the position of both parents and coaches will help enhance the athletic experience for our athletes.
Parent Code of Conduct 1. Love and support your child and the team, win or lose 2. Be realistic about your child s abilities 3. Be positive and encouraging at all times 4. Do not come to the court during a game to talk to your daughter 5. Respect the coach s decisions and encourage others to do the same 6. Realize that we are in this together!
Appropriate Concerns to Discuss with the Coach 1. The coach s interaction with your daughter 2. How the coach can help your daughter become a better student athlete 3. Concerns about your daughter s interactions with others
DISCRETION OF THE COACH 1. RELENTLESS Team Strategy. 2. Other athletes or other situations not involving your daughter. 3. Play calling. 4. PLAYING TIME Not equal
For a Conference Call the coach of your daughter s team to set up an appointment. Your daughter s attendance is expected. Conferences will include other coaches or administrators. Please do not attempt to confront a coach after a game or practice. Emotions are running too high and will not result in a positive resolution
Never count your minutes. Make your minutes count. BS Lindsay Go the extra mile. There are no traffic jams. -Zig Ziglar RELENTLESS
